I'm sorry this thread has devolved into this sort of inane back and forth snark. It's the sort of thing we've tried to weed out for years here.

Not cherry picking.....not that I need to explain my statement again....but I have been looking for Bermuda for the past 5 years....mostly looking at Royal..it has NEVER been that cheap..drinks or not.
 
Also..MSC, its not a one off promo..there are multiple dates and prices even cheaper.. 
 
As for the drink promo...sure it is..but at the end of the day, that's what it costs. Its like Royals math with 60% off second guest and kids sail free....all that matters really is the cost at the end of the day..no matter how they try to spin it or make it look like.
 
So as originally stated....Royal is getting only 1/3 of my business this year..based on their high prices for both their cruises AND their drinks. Fact.
 
When someone shows me ANY cruise with Royal that is even just double....sign me up!.
Royals drink package...on sale or not is more than my whole cruise and drinks and wifi port/fees taxes etc....
 
That's a fact..not opinion.. Whether or not its as good as Royal or whether I I will enjoy it or not or whether  the drink package as good as Royals, those are opinions.
 
 

Yes - the no-show's package would be refunded if purchased pre-cruise. If you know for sure that the 2nd passenger isn't going, you could call RC to get the DBP for Passenger 1 and the Refreshment package for the no-show. (Significantly) less money tied up that way.

I've sailed both, and I love both (even with Allure not being amplified).  That being said, if water slides are something that you want to  have on your ship, Navigator is  your girl.  And with the savings of not having to fly? I'd be all over that.

The Drink(s) of Day on my Sept Radiance sailing definitely weren't $8. I want to say around $11 or so.

I would keep checking to see if people cancel the backup excursion, or check once onboard at the shore excursion desk.

I would be very unhappy, as Solariums are where we spend much of our time onboard.  
 
That being said, I wonder what happened to have the whole place shut down.  I would imagine it’s not a decision that was made lightly.  I’d rather have the Solarium shut down than have someone get injured due to an unsafe condition. 
 
I may be different than a lot people, but I wouldn’t let one incident such as this deter me from patronizing a business that I had been pleased with in the past.  
 
I’d also inquire at Guest Services as to the reason why.  Did you do that, and if so, what was the explanation given?  Or did you just want to complain to a bunch of strangers. 

We pay only cash on board. We bring a set amount of money and that is all we spend. We put it on the account on day one and that is it. That keeps us from over spending. We usually don't spend the full amount either. 

This! I'm about 90% sure that any stamps in a passport that are not official government stamps can invalidate the passport.

Or it's too early and they haven't contracted with the local vendors yet

@smokeybanditand @KJonesmake a good point on the drink tipping  - we drink very little and our D+ vouchers are far more than sufficient for our daily use (with plenty to spare 😂). So when we do drink, we are either using a voucher or getting a free drink in the suite’s lounge and that is why I said that we always tip for every drink (as there is no auto 18% gratuity). Thanks for pointing that out.

I believe they'll swipe your card after each drink, which will include the auto 18%. If you want to tip extra, you can do that at that time or at the end.

My cabinet looks like a pantry at the beginning of my cruises

Well Sharla worked her magic and has 3 cabins for our group of 3 couples in April. She got us a group rate. Our balcony cabin (brand new shiny Diamond Plus) is only $3280 with refundable deposit! That’s $800 LESS than our Wonder back in March. Excited to explore this ship and really hoping it’s a good experience for all cruisers and not just families

I posted this question two weeks ago, and have been signing into the Cruise Planner and re-checking daily. Just today, several more specialty dining options suddenly appeared as being available to reserve—including Chef’s Table (which the phone rep had assured me “filled up a long time ago”). Many thanks to all the experienced posters on here for the advice to not give up and keep checking 😀
