  1. I really don't see it this way at all. He's said all along that they have a team of people (including medical and epidemiologists) working on how they will handle the on-board and pre-board experience. American Queen can start sailing much sooner because they don't have to wait for foreign ports to open up. They may not even be subject to much CDC scrutiny. Royal knows they really can't start sailing yet (CDC hasn't indicated that they will lift the "no sail" order early), so they may as well use the time and figure out their strategy. They have the time to try to get it right the first time back.
  2. It might be comparing apples to oranges here in many ways, but it's interesting to see how some companies will be dealing with passengers and spaces once they get sailing again. https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/22987-american-queen-announces-health-protocols.html?fbclid=IwAR3E_1qR-lIv4eCC4qbi2T7laDferhFIoLjoC1SaX7sP6ghcCnRN7pa7Z8Q
  3. Some companies are not even offering refunds at this time, but rather only FCC , so imagine their frustration.
  4. I think they meant once Harmony is in the Med (which probably isn't happening this year anyway).
  5. The smoking area was port on Ovation, too, and I'm almost certain on Navigator and Mariner (which is why I typically only walk the starboard side of the ship when I'm up on the pool deck).
  6. I think that it's almost a given that they will start doing this.
  7. If you didn't prepay your gratuities it can be used towards that at the end of the cruise.
  8. The over 70 rule was rescinded in April. I can't comment on what your government says about travel. "We know that our 70+ guests and those with chronic conditions are especially eager to understand what cruising will look like in the future. While subject to change, via the Cruise Lines International Association, we have confirmed that the previous restrictions were lifted in early April after cruise lines suspended service."
  9. Had I known that on Monday I certainly wouldn't have bothered posting the article.
  10. Good to know, now I don't have to call them (honestly, I wasn't planning to, I know they are swamped). ?
  11. It dropped down to $12.99/day for my Oct cruise (I snagged it at $16.99 about 6 months ago). I should cancel and rebook but I'm still waiting for my money to come back from something I canceled two weeks ago (not long, I know, but I kind of only want to do one at a time so I can keep track of them, lol).
  12. I don't think that they have any intention of making the WJ space a paid-food space. I think they just want to make it safer. I'd be ok with the food court concept. I might actually eat there then!
  13. Interesting that the last person was allowed to L&S to a sailing that was not the same number of days ("the cruise was an extra night"). I inquired (or rather, Michelle did) about L&S from an 8-night down to a 7-night and they said no. I wonder if it is because they are Britains (based on the currency type quoted).
  14. He posted it immediately. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2020/05/20/royal-caribbean-will-cancel-all-sailings-through-july-31-due-coronavirus
  15. She was, but that was only because of the new Royal Caribbean terminal that was going to be built. That's been delayed, so now Allure likely can't come (the current terminal isn't capable of accommodating an Oasis class ship).
  16. Isn't @michelle just the best? Congrats on snagging that room. I looked at some Royal Class suites on that sailing when Raye mentioned it, too. If I didn't already have the RCBlog group cruise to Norway in July 2021 and the RCBlog GC in November 2021 I would have jumped on it (since I'd have ALL that extra money, lol) If I can't get the time off for the Thanksgiving sailing I may still crash the Allure party.
  17. I respectfully disagree. The nights weren't sailed, the room wasn't paid for. The points weren't earned. It's not their fault that this virus exists. It's not like they're making bank off of this fiasco.
  18. Matt indicated that there would be another Cruise Planner sale starting on Friday (so they'll show up Thursday, probably).
  19. Like other tourism-dependent locations, the islands of The Bahamas have taken a major economic hit in recent months. But Bahamian prime minister Hubert Minnis says that things could slowly be changing. While addressing his constituency on Sunday, the politician said, “Our resorts, our airports and our seaports are finalizing the health and safety protocols that will be necessary for us to provide for a re-opening.” He then acknowledged that the plan was to try and re-open the country on or before July 1. https://cruiseradio.net/bahamas-could-welcome-cruise-ships-back-july-1st/
  20. There has to be tons to do without actually going into Paris, nearly 2 1/2 hours away from the port, though.
