We have a two bedroom Grand Suite for our Quantum sailing. Sleeps up to 8. There will be four of us.

I would recommend a loft on deck 17 of any Oasis class ship. With that being said, It looks like prices are going up so the hope of actually getting a better deal and upgrading to a suite doesn’t seem realistic at the moment. Lots of website activity with people scoping future cruises impacting the pricing algorithms?

I agree with you, but I am still in the camp that this is just their out of the gate numbers to test waters.  The OPs cruise is May 2021.  400 days a way. or IOWS 13 months.  I can understand buying the bev package if it was the OMG $18 oops sale.  However, even if it was at $65.  I probably would not pull the trigger.  I have OBC and a credit card with 0% int., yet why would I use that this far out.  My expectation is that it will probably drop to 70 or so, which would be on par with a 10% inc.
We always buy the package, and never bring on board our allowable wine.  If it stays at that price I would bring on wine.  I would look into how much they are selling a bottle of alcohol to be delivered to your room, and call it a day with just the classic soda package plus the coffee card.  The only way I would still be swayed is our cruise stops at both Labadee and Coco Cay.
I have seen many companies that go under just because they think by rising prices they will make up their losses.  In this industry, it will also come down to see if Carnival, NCL and Princess follow suit.  They may all join the bandwagon, or they may stay put and gain past Loyal to Royal clients due to this faulty business model.
The only thing I will be pulling the trigger way early is still not showing up.  Coco Beach Club pass.  I doubt that will show up for 3 more months.  I too have a sailing 403 days away.
Here is one thought of why they have it so high as of right now.  The 125% FCC.  Maybe they are hoping those receiving the credit will pull the trigger thinking that, heck it is 25% free money.  However, what I have read the sailings are costing more, so I am not sure that works.  My cruise is up 1K for my cabin.

Baked Alaska reacted to twangster in CDC's RECOMMENDATION- NO COMMERCIAL AIR?
CDC guidelines don't have an end date on them so they apply to the situation right now.  That makes it difficult to forecast what the guidelines might be 30, 60 or 90 days from now.
May 29 is 53 days from today.  I'm not sure anyone including the CDC knows where we will be 53 days from now.  Hopefully the peak will be behind us and we will be in a much better place but that is pure hope and speculation on my part.
I fear that even if we have moved past the peak infection count that life won't be fully back to normal by June 1st.
That doesn't really answer your question.  I don't think anyone can answer your question today including the top experts.
We will live the next several months at the mercy of the virus, it is in control of the timeline, we are not.

There is no way that we would pay more than $50 PP/PD for a drink package. We just don’t drink enough.  Paying as we go would make more sense.  We got the DBP for $48 for the Oct Brilliance group cruise but even at that I don’t think it’s probably financially beneficial. I did it for the convenience.  I’ll never pay more than $50.

My sailing is 28 June 2020 and my final payment was due a few days ago. (Harmony) I also paid it in the hopes that the mitigation works and we get a good handle on this pandemic. If RCCL cancels I have instructed Sharla (MEI) I would take the 125% FCC and apply it to my Thanksgiving 2020 sailing (Odyssey)  if that doesn't go then apply to my summer 2021 (Allure) or my newly booked Thanksgiving 2021 (Oasis) where I believe I found an amazing price for that sailing.  I am staying away from the cruise planner for now as my prices there have just sky rocketed.
I know in my heart that RCCL will only sail if it is safe for their passengers and crew, I expect a much more thorough screening before embarkation but if they don't sail I feel just as safe with Sharla advocating for me and my FCC.  Be safe & good health to you all.

Baked Alaska reacted to princevaliantus in RC must put HEPA FILTERS on its ships
Per The New England Journal of Medicine,  Airborne transmission is “plausible,” but the researchers concluded that whether the coronavirus can suggests that it can be aerosolized are ONLY preliminary, finding that no aerosolized coronavirus particles were found in hospital rooms of Covid-19 patients. At this point, no one really knows until a definitive scientific proof or test results are provided.

It most certainly IS airborne. Otherwise, there would be no need for filtering N-95 respirators (commonly incorrectly called "masks").

Smoking should be banned altogether. Fire at sea is too dangerous an issue.

HEPA purifiers can capture the COVID-19 virus. But that's a moot point, because it's not airborne.

Royal has taken out about $4 billion through its available lines of credit to shore up liquidity and “cash on hand”. That’s for short-term / near-term use, so yes, they will be able to continue issuing refunds if they do more cancellations.

I'm of the type who wants to go once it's up and running ( after a small grace period to make sure they dont take 3 steps back). But my husband does keep mentioning what scares him is being quarantined because 1 person is sick of 6000 passengers.
Juat want this all to be over.
Work in healthcare and I'm getting more depressed by the day...
