We learned about Lava Flows from this forum and it was our first drink on our first cruise, so it's our tradition to officially start each cruise with a Lava Flow.  And they are mighty refreshing also.

Not very light packers so we usually have a large roller and a folding garment suitcase and sometimes a mid size roller that I leave the the porters, we always have a small carry on and electronics/camera backpack that stays with us.  Boarding the ship I hand them off to the porters and give them $1-2 per bag; once I used a porter help me thru customs and out to the rental car shuttle so I gave him $20.  As Matt said that $20 was the best money I've spent.

Harmony of the Seas – February 16 to February 23 – Semi Live Review
I have always enjoyed reading the cruise reviews for their information and entertainment value.  They also make the time between cruises a bit more bearable.  I have done three post cruise reviews, but this will be my first attempt at a live review.  In fact this is my first time with the internet on the ship, not sure how it will go but I will try my best to post in between enjoying the cruise.  I’ll also try and answer anyone’s questions that they may have.  I fancy myself as an amateur photographer so there will be lots of pics.
We are a mid-60s couple, and I would describe ourselves as pretty easy to please and we are more inclined to roll with the flow.  On our past cruises dining has been in the MDR, café promenade/compass deli and the windjammer in that order.  The buffet would be my least favorite place to eat.  We don’t spend a great deal of time in our cabin and the only thing I expect from our room steward is to make the bed, replace the towels and fill the ice bucket in the evenings.   We enjoy listening to music and attending the various shows and lounging in the sun/hot tub during sea days.  On port days, we like to do a bit of sightseeing.
Background:  We booked this cruise three days into our very first cruise on Oasis of the Seas in April 2018.  I retired in November 2017 and after hearing about Royal Caribbean cruises from a co-worker I decided to finally take my DW on a cruise, something she had wanted to try for a long time.  To say that we fell in love with cruising is an understatement.  In addition to this cruise we have three others booked.
Harmony is our fourth cruise, with Oasis, Grandeur and Majesty being number 1, 2 and 3.  All have been great experiences.  We have an ocean view balcony, and first seating Traditional Dining.  We are not foodies and the MDR and other included venues have been fine with us in the past.  The only specialty dining we have experienced so far was Chops Brunch on Grandeur of the Seas and we were not that impressed with that one.  But because we wanted to experience Wonderland, I purchased the three night dining package for this cruise, when it went on sale for $99pp.  Our plans are to eat at Chops, Wonderland and 150 Central Park.  We were also lucky enough to get the great UBP glitch of 2019, so there will be no problem breaking even on this cruise.  I have the digital photo package so we will be jumping in front of a ship’s photographer as much as I can.  At the last minute, we purchased The Key as prices went down, so I will try to do a somewhat live review this time.
The Plan:  We started taking ballroom dance lessons this past September and hope to find opportunities to dance the night away.  The pre-cruise events starts off with a formal Sweetheart Dance on February 14 put on by our local dance studio.  With only a few hours of sleep we fly from DC to Orlando Saturday Morning.  So here is our itinerary for this cruise.
Pre-Cruise Day -2:  Final packing and attending the Sweetheart Formal Dance.
Pre-Cruise Day -1:  Flight to Orlando, spend the day checking out Disney Springs and/or Universal City Walk before checking into Country Inn & Suites by Radisson.
Cruise Day 1:  Kraken Lava Flow, specialty dinner reservations and then Chops lunch in the MDR.
Cruise Day 2:  Coco Cay-this is our second time at Coco Cay, but the first time at Perfect Day.  Plans are for a relaxing beach day with time in the pool, beach and exploring the island taking photographs.
Cruise Day 3:  Sea Day-this is a do nothing but enjoy the ship day.
Cruise Day 4:  Puerto Costa Maya-this is our second time here.  On our first visit we took a Royal excursion to the Mayan ruins at Kohunlich and Dizbanche, this time the plans are to explore the port and visit the Aviary.
Cruise Day 5:  Roatan, Honduras- we will be doing the adults only Sol y Mar Beach Club.
Cruise Day 6:  Cozumel, Mexico-this will be our third time here, previously we did the Mayan Ruins at San Gervasio and Chocolate Factory Tour and explored downtown San Miguel.  This time we have Trikes Cozumel reserved for a tour around the island, followed by some time downtown before heading back to the ship.
Cruise Day 7:  Final Sea Day-hoping to enjoy the ship and drink our sorrows away as this cruise comes to an end.
Cruise Day 8:  Will be dragged off the ship kicking and screaming, once the shock wears off we’ll be off to explore Cocoa Beach area.  DW does not like rushing off the ship to the airport so we will spend another night in Florida before heading home.
Post-Cruise Day:  It’s back to the cruel cold winter with a flight from MCO to IAD.

I dropped my luggage off around 9 and returned the car, the shuttle driver said we were to early but we jumped on along with another family and he took us to the terminal.  They hadn't opened the doors yet but there was already a line forming so we got inline and they opened the doors about 9:45.  Maybe 15 minutes thru security and checking in then we sat in the terminal until boarding began, we were onboard with drink in hand by 11:15.

DandA got a reaction from J_Keeble in Are Dubai 2019-2020 cruises going to be cancelled?
Traveling in the Mideast has been dangerous since well since the Crusades; recently sailing the gulf has had threats from Somalia pirates and the Iranian Navy.  There are dangers anytime we leave our houses, we have to stay aware of our surroundings and everyone has to make decisions based on their own comfort level.  Frankly the gulf was dangerous before the last situation and while it may have increased a bit, the US Navy will be even more vigilant in protecting the sea lanes.  I'm positive Royal doesn't want to lose a ship and will make a decision as soon as they have the information they need.
As I type this Iran has launched missiles at military  bases in Iraq and I full expect a swift response to this.  This latest action may cancel some cruises.

Ghassem Soleimani was responsible for hundreds of U.S. service members deaths as the leader of Qods Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom of which I deployed five times so if he met his very untimely death I won’t miss a night of sleep. If this situation  wrecks some cruises because of larger global issues than so be it. I personally lost people because of this guy so forgive me if I don’t blame the U.S president.  This is a raw subject for me so excuse me if I come off too strong.

I too am a relatively new cruiser and have only been to Nassau once, I read many of the negative reviews and how many stay on the ship.  It all depends on your interest, seems most either go to Atlantis or to Junkanoo Beach or one of the other beaches/resorts near the port.  We chartered a taxi thru Cheryl's Bahamas Taxi for a three hour tour; I wanted to see three forts ( Fort Montagu, Fort Fincastle and Fort Charlotte) and the Queen's Staircase.  We only made it to Fort Montagu and the Queen's Staircase; was disappointed that we didn't get to the other two forts but all in all it was a good tour.  He took us to "The Cloisters", Atlantis, a dock where they cleaned conch and sold conch salad, a rum cake bakery, chocolate factory; wine tasting place and John Wattling's Distillery.  I could have done without the bakery, chocolate factory and wine tasting, he also offered to take us to a cigar place but i declined that one.
After our 3 hours I had him drop us off at the Pirates Museum and we went there it was interesting and fun, from there we walked back to the ship.  On the way there was an interesting church we did't linger there as it looked like they were having a service, stopped at the Pompey Slave Museum it was enlightening mostly stuff to read.and strolled back to the ship.  It was pretty hot that day so went back to the ship and didn't go thru the straw market.  I will say I didn't feel like I wasn't safe, just stay in the main tourist areas and be aware of your surrounding and travel using the buddy plan.

DandA got a reaction from ChessE4 in Belize Cave Tubing
We did the Jaguar Cave Tubing and Jungle Trek this past April, we had the lunch before the tubing (this varies), it consisted of chicken and rice.  Was pretty good for a picnic style lunch.  We had about 1/4 mile trek through the jungle on mostly level hard pack path.  There was a wooden stairs going down and up from the river that we had to cross, be careful climbing them after crossing the river as they were wet.  Wear water shoes or old tennis shoes.  The tubing thru the cave was like slow drifting and being pulled by the guide, all the tubes were lashed together to keep the group together.  There is a place to purchase drinks before and after the tubing and a souvenir shop.  Our tour guide was Peter and he was great.  While the tubing was fun the best part was the commentary we got from our tour guide, he was funny and informative about all things Belize.
Can't comment on the Crystal Cave one, I'd recommend booking thru the ship as we got back late and had to catch the next to last tender to the ship, the bus about 5 minutes behind ours was the last tender before we set sail.

I definitely agree with @twangster, and I disagree with WAPO (I am not torn apart ... and I don't sense this is a big deal to many).  However ...
I dress for no one. Not at work (OK, maybe for customers), not at home, and not on a cruise. With one massive exception. I dress for my soulmate. Since I really can’t see what I am wearing, and I really could care less about what anyone else thinks, I dress for only one person ... the woman I fell in love with 40 years ago and the woman I want to make happy every single day of my life.
I also do not care what other people wear … I am looking at my soulmate, everyone else is the equivalent of “visual background noise” … Sorry if some of you are upset.
I see frequent requests for what is acceptable in the MDR, and on Formal nights. I understand these requests are sincere questions about what is normal and tolerated. My advice is ... Ask your soulmate. Ask the person who you are devoted to. Ask the only person on the earth that matters. You and they will be much happier as a result.
On a cruise (and many times at home), I wear what my soulmate wants.  She also asks me what I prefer that she wears, and I am honest and very appreciative when she responds. When we do this, almost always she says I “look sexy”, and I feel great (I also laugh a little). I think she is the most beautiful, engaging woman on the ship, and I would wear anything to make her happy.
I hope everyone can have this feeling when they go cruising.
    Curt from Canada.

As one of the Board of Directors for our local Junior League of Cotillions, I often am in situations or environments where everyone dresses like this (or fancier). We do it all. The white gloves including. We hold 2-3 Balls a year complete with orchestras and dancing. When I attend the evening events at my ballroom dance school, it is not unusual to see many ladies in full gown or gentlemen in tuxedos.... alongside younger "kids" in jeans and TOMs. Or the lady that always wears the most fantastic "cha cha" pants with ruffles from her ankles to her cooter!
I have a lovely wardrobe of gowns and dresses. We recently held a full Victorian Ball and every lady in attendance had a hoop skirt on!
I truly love taking a moment out of my day and spending time on myself to dress up. To do my hair. To put on a gown or dress that makes ME feel like a princess. It makes ME happy. I could prance off to Home Depot for light bulbs or meet friends at a dive diner for a chili dog (I have actually done this in a gown, long story) and at the end of the day, I have never once felt out of place or uncomfortable. When I dress up, it is about me and me alone. It's not for anyone else. Just me.
When I sail in April, I have not one but TWO gowns because I understand there will be two formal nights. I will also bring two dresses probably for 70s/White nights if they have them. When I board, I have a lovely dress and.... prepare to gasp... A HAT!
And not a ball cap, an actual HAT!
It's not as over the top as this one but I'd say it's "in the spirit of".

I plan to swan about and dress for dinner and be presentable for breakfast or coffee in the morning because that makes ME happy.
For all those who prefer to wear their pajamas to get coffee or shorts and a backwards ball cap in the Main Dining room?
You are always welcome to sit with me, next to me, or in my immediate field of vision. How you choose to dress does not affect ME (unless you are in full fetish gear and have that mask with the zipper on.... those kind of freak me out a little so I might politely excuse myself but really that's about the only time it might bother me a little but that's on me, not you so if I am uncomfortable, it's my responsibility to attend to removing myself POLITELY and GRACEFULLY from the situation, not yours for being there).
    ?
I have met some of the rudest nastiest people in the world who are wearing a tuxedo or gown. I have also met some of the most fabulously delightful warm wonderful people in the world who are dressed rather sparse or "sloppy". What a person chooses to pull out of their closet and drape on their body doesn't make them a good or kind or pleasant person. That only comes from the heart. And if you have a good heart then I could give a fig what you are wearing. If you are a mean spirited, ill tempered, nasty person than the most gorgeous most expensive designer gown won't fix that black void where your heart should be.
My two cents since everyone is tossing there's about! ?

Was just on Majesty in April for a 7 day, several days into the cruise we decided to purchase the photo package.  They had around 5-6 backdrops every evening, we took advantage of most of them each night and came away with over 100 photos.  My only complaint is that you were only able to get print photos and they are all 8x10.  And Majesty is a good ship, loved the Schooner Bar at night.
