It is completely possible to leave the ship with a $0 balance.  I've done it.  Once.  And it was on Grandeur !  Of course, we prepaid our gratuities so that was already taken care of.  But if you don't buy alcohol or other specialty beverages and don't eat in the "pay" restaurants then it's really pretty easy to do.  As long as you pay any additional tips in cash (but you're not required to do even that) then nothing will be added to your seapass account.  If you have a question about whether there is a charge for something just ask before you do it and they will tell you !  Don't feel obligated to pay for ANYthing that is optional.  Trust me, you will NOT go hungry and you will NOT be bored !  If someone asks for your seapass card just be sure and ask "Am I being charged ?".  Then, either decide to go ahead or decline to proceed.

Say a little thank you to the "Big Guy" of allowing me to be on vacation. And by Big Guy...I'm not talking about my husband...lol
We've had a rough year....cancer diagnoses for me, Major surgery, 12 chemo treatments, (finally finished), Hurricane Harvey flooding our home 2 weeks into my chemo.  I wasn't allowed any alcohol during my treatments......yea, I'm ready for a cruise...and a big ole Bloody Mary!  Come on May!!

Our nonstop Southwest flights out of BWI to SJU dropped from $303 pp/rt to $200 pp/rt on sale last week.  My wife gets emails from Southwest that notify her of sales and when she checked, we were pleasantly surprised with the C-note savings for each of us.  That's over $500 for our family group.  Maybe now we can afford to kiss a dolphin after all!

You sound like my husband!! You will sooooo enjoy retirement! At least he is. I'm hoping to hang it up in the next two years but I work from home, have great bosses so I'm not in a hurry!
When we see you on Adventure, he'll tell you all about it! LOL

I'm booked on Celebrity Silhouette from Ft. Lauderdale Nov 14th 8 night to ABC islands. Not sure if that interests you, it's sister company to RCCL. Great itinerary!

We loved our panoramic room on Freedom, and would book another one on another ship in a heartbeat...well, maybe two heartbeats, I have to convince my wife it's a good idea to book another cruise.  She gets annoyed when I talk about cruising too much...so I come here ?

I paid fedex office to print my luggage tags on a high quality glossy thick paper. Cot less than $2 for 4 copies. The even got wet and had no smearing or discoloration.

I'm also doing some preliminary research on this cruise.

My wife has been a good sport for our first three, all to the Caribbean (where I'd happily go every time!), but I think she would really love to see New England and Canada.
I'd love to go in the late summer, but with us living on the SC coast, I'm a little concerned about a hurricane heading this way and not being home.

That is cool and I am not sure how accurate...I live about 2.5 hrs inland from Halifax..and I would say out average temps in July and August are about 75-85 with some days topping out at 95.....while Halifax by the water would be cooler, I would think its normally in at least the high 70's during the summer mths......

I took a look back at 2017 with Accuweather...avg temps for July/August would be about 80..some days into the 90's, some into the 70s.....but in the 60's is defn not the norm in my 20+ years living in the Maritimes...

As for info about Saint John or Halifax......feel free to ask away. I am just over an hr away from Saint John, 2.5 from Halifax and 1.5 from Charlottetown which are all busy ports for the NE/Canada cruise schedules.

There's a decent contingency from the #RCPeriscopers.live group going on the Adventure 5/5 repo cruise from San Juan to Bayonne.  Make sure you scope!

I'm not tied into school schedules anymore, husband is retired, but I get where you are going with the biggest ships. I will sail on one of them in the future as @Sabrinaklai will force me into it, but for right now, the smaller ones are better for us.  Reading, a few cocktails, casino is about what we are looking for now..

That's maybe the only thing about the RCCL card that is frustrating.  The only thing you really have to confirm that the transaction has gone through is the email confirmation.  Up until just a few months ago you never had any idea whether your credit would show up or not.  Now, they have started allowing you to "spend" your OBC on precruise purchases,  you will know ahead of time that the OBC is in place.  Anecdotal information has shown that the Visa OBC will show up in your My Cruise Planner about 2 weeks - 1 month prior to your sail date.  Once you start seeing the "OBC BANNER" in My Cruise Planner you will know that all is well.
I do recommend that you print a copy of the email confirmation, however.  Only once have we ever had to produce the email "proof" to get the OBC applied once onboard but nothing else would have sufficed so it's important to have it, even if you do not need it.  In truth, they are very good at redeeming the points for OBC.

10,000 RC credit card  points = $100.)) OBC. 5,000 RC credit card points  = $50.00 OBC

I actually got the Celebrity CC (not the on that's $69.00 annual fee). It's with Bank of America. I got it because out of the 7 cruises I'm booked on 5 are Celebrity, however, when I go online to Bank of America to redeem my points which I will be doing for my upcoming Grandeur, there is a drop down box that gives the names of all 3 RCCL cruises (RC, Celebrity Azumara). I have enough for the grandeur for $250 OBC and then some so I really don't see how you can go wrong.
