I have a platinum Visa card and the only thing that opens is my wallet!

So far, being unvaccinated has been a “get-out-of-cruise-free” card….meaning unvaxxed could receive a 100% cash refund…however, that may not be the case in 2023.  If it were me and I didn’t intend to get vaccinated (and GOOD for them for making that choice !), I would definitely book with a refundable deposit.  Who knows what the situation will be, then. Hoping that the vax requirement is long gone by then, but nobody really knows.

I got an email to Royal up already in a suite but for 370.00 PP i can try for the Royal Suite or 210.00 PP for the Owners Suite 🙂  I don't think so.

I really don't like when this happens on this site. All too often, people join just to rant in absolute anger about getting "screwed over" because they had not done their due diligence.
Just as @smokeybandit said, this was going to be the outcome with any of the cruise lines when you book with a non-refundable deposit.
The truly sad part is that many of the "Join/Rant/Leave" members, as I like to call them, don't return after typing their vitriol to get what could actually be some useful advise.
i.e, Cruise With Confidence, only book refundable fares, travel insurance, etc.

We don't use a credit card except when traveling, and we pay it off in full as soon as we return home.  Doing this requires discipline in order to only spend what you have budgeted for vacation. 
We feel using a credit card rather than a debit card protects us...not only for the pending charges or "holds", but in the unlikely event that our card gets compromised. 
Random incident that happened last month in Miami....when we checked into our pre cruise hotel, the hold for incidentals was actually applied twice.  Since we used our credit card rather than our debit card, we didn't worry about it too much (yes, it went away when we checked out the next morning).
 

On the flip side, we use credit for EVERYTHING!  Better protections, no hands in my checking account, paid in full every month, maximum rewards.  

Edited to add everyone has their own financial plans and comfort levels.  just sharing my thoughts. 😁

I got three price drops on my current cruise coming up.

Call or everyone get together when check in opens and have everyone check in at the same time. 

If you have all of the reservation numbers and basic pertinent information, one person can do all the initial check ins when it opens.
The other option is to ignore the check in times for all but the latest time that somebody gets and show up together for that time. They won't let you board (much) earlier than your assigned time, but you can always be late.
