whitsmom
I have the deluxe drink package so if I get a glass of wine, what is the dollar limit that is still within the package?
tiny260
Pinging @JLMoran, even though I think it is the $12-13 like any other drink. I think in JL's blog he mentioned that there were some premium wines that were not included so they were extra.
Jason.H.
12 or 13 dollars on all drinks (except starbucks) depending on ship (quantum and oasis class are $13 cap). The selection is somewhat small on what is under that amount when it comes to wine but we had no issues with it. You can go under the menus tab on the top of the blogs home page and check out the different bar menus for the ship you will be traveling on. whitsmom
JLMoran
As others have noted, $13 for Oasis / Quantum ships, $12 everywhere else. Premium wines that go over the limit, you just pay the difference. 4 hours ago, Jason.H. said: The selection is somewhat small on what is under that amount when it comes to wine but we had no issues with it. In the MDR I saw only a few wines that went over the limit. Among the reds, it was the Marchesi de'Frescobaldi Chianti that I had most nights ($17); the Ravenswood Old Vine Zinfandel ($13, would be fully covered on Quantum / Oasis as long as the price held there),;and one crazy high-priced red I just couldn't muster the courage to spend the money on. Whites I didn't pay as close attention to, but I think there also it was mostly within the covered limit and just 3 or 4 that went over. Vintages is where it was almost impossible to find something appealing that would be fully covered; most of the wines I saw listed that were at or below $12 were ones I'd tried on land and really didn't like, or varietals that I just don't care for (Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir). I'm a robust red drinker, and all of the good chianti, sangiovese, and syrah on offer were anywhere between $4 over and no-way-in-hell-am-I-spending-that-much-on-a-glass territory. But I'd expect a venue that focuses on really good wine to be pricier, and those wines that were in the $4 to $7 over range were all really good and worth the extra few bucks, IMO. mom2mybugs
I found that we had many that were drinkable under the $12... and some that were definitely worth just the $1. The vintages bartenders were amazing at figuring out what we liked and steering is in the right direction. fonemanbob
Just wait the only available reds will be Boone`s Farm and Ripple. I`m kidding . We get the deluxe drink package and its worth it to have to pay the extra couple of dollars to get a premium bottle of wine. And have found buying the bottle is worth it as long as you know you will be having a few glasses of that brand. We order a glass first and then if it is really good we get a bottle. It helps bringing on two bottles of wine also. And if you want to go out on a limb talk to people getting on and if they don`t have wine, ask them to bring 2 extra bottles on and give them a tip for their effort. Been their done that once. It`s not like you are smuggling drugs or a weapon on board.
whitsmom
Definitely bringing two bottles of my favorite wine on board. It's from a winery in Indiana that is a couple of hours away from us. When we go, I usually get 3-4 cases. I lucked up a few months ago when I found out my niece was going to the casino in the same town as the winery. I gave her some money to bring me back 3 cases! hayley_bopp
I enjoyed several very nice wines both included and which I paid extra for on Navigator in 2016 in both MDR & Vintages. Can't WAIT to hit Vintages on Independence in July whitsmom
twangster
Wine is very personal. When I have the drink package I often spend a few extra bucks for a better glass of wine especially in a specialty restaurant. Sometimes when I don't have the drink package the cheap wine that is covered by the diamond happy hour tastes pretty darn good. whitsmom
ellcee
Best thing about the drink package is you can test out wines..start at the covered wines and only pay the difference if you are not happy with what is completely covered or if there is something you're dying to try. whitsmom and Lovetocruise2002
