Symphony’s direction upon leaving bayone today.

Watching Symphony leaving port today and for 20 minutes she was sailing north on the Hudson the opposite direction ships usually leave. Never saw that before? Then turned around to head south.

Most likely the Cap was giving the guests a Statue of Liberty sail-by.  Only had this happen to us once but it was awesome !

That’s exactly what he did. Have three cruises rom Bayonne in 2025 hopefully we get one sail by.

Anthem did this once for me.  It was really awesome sailing past Lady Liberty, Ellis Island and doing a turn around lower Manhattan.  

The Captain stated he had to request authorization from the port authority.  There is a lot of traffic in this area.  Large ships heading to ports, river barges, ferries, and sightseeing.

Was lucky enough to do this on Oasis a few years ago.  As a nearly life-long NJ resident, I've seen the Statue of Liberty dozens of times from up close, but being basically face-level with her was was absolutely wild.

Just got off the Symphony today. They are repositioning the ship to Miami. Crew only on the trip. They were pretty excited, waiter was saying they got use of the whole ship. Captain probably did it for crew appreciation

this warms my heart the crew work so hard — i hope they can relax and enjoy the sailing!!
