On Board Credit

Recommended Posts

I received on board credit by booking through a travel agent.   Can I use that credit to pay for the 3 night dining package or can I use the credit to pay for alcohol at the bars?  Trying to decide how to use the credit.

Thanks!

You can use the OBC for anything in the cruise planner when purchasing pre-cruise…so that would include dining pkg, drink pkg, internet, excursions , etc.  If you choose not to use it before your cruise…it will be on your onboard account.  That means if you do not purchase any type of drink pkg…the credit will be applied to whatever you purchase while on board.  You can use it in the casino as well.  It’s your money from your TA and you can use it as you please!  Enjoy!

I've had OBC given by travel agents that don't show up until the first or second day of the cruise.  So, in those cases, it's not available to use on the cruise planner.  However, once on board, it's just a credit on your which  would go against any purchases in the onboard shops.  Also, if you don't prepay gratuities, they would be charged each day and  the credit could/would be used against those.

That being said, the best OBC are the ones that do show up before the cruise and then you can use them in cruise planner (as discussed in earlier messages). If they do show up prior to your cruise and you don't use them on the cruise planner, they will not be lost and you can still use them while on board.

Hmmm although simple to do there are a lot of steps!  You can ask a casino worker to help you muddle through the process but simply once you insert your sea pass card into the slot machine you’ll see a window welcoming you by name.  I believe when you try to tap on account it asks for your PIN number.  This is your date of birth but just MMDD.  From there you first must change your PIN number.  Then you can access account.

I'm doing this strictly by memory so rather than provide incorrect info…I’ll defer to someone else or as I mentioned previously…ask the casino host or a worker to help.

Good luck…and happy cruising!

I've read that you can get 'cash' from the slots that can be taken from your OBC. How is that done? Please, very simple explanation as I'm can be 'slot machine challenged'. Thanks.

Follow the instructions @PPPJJ-GCVAB posted above to access your account. There will be a "personal banker" button (or something to that effect) and one of the options will be to charge an amount to your room. Just charge the amount of your OBC (or however much cash you want) to the machine and then cash it out.

Even if you don't have OBC, this also works as a way to get out cash without paying the ATM fees. You can charge an amount to your room and then cash it out instead of withdrawing cash from the ATM. (Not sure if/how much of a limit they have, but I've done this before for getting smaller amounts of cash as needed.)

The slot machines are my go-to ATM when I need cash on the trip.  As an added bonus, since it shows up as a room charge and not a cash advance on my credit card, I get the 3% cashback bonus too.  Just make sure you have cash in your bank account to pay off the credit card before it is due to avoid interest.

Cash withdrawals through the slot machine:

if 50% of funds transferred to the machine are not played at slots in the same day they were withdrawn they put a lock on your ability to withdraw additional $ through the slots.  Talk varies as to how long that lock remains in place.  Some say 24 hours  some say 48 hours, others say the remainder of the cruise.
