cedricmr
Dear Guest, Due to the ongoing geopolitical situation in Israel, and with your safety in mind, we’ve adjusted our itinerary. We’ll now visit Mykonos, Greece as well as Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey, and we’ll have an extra hour in Chania (Souda), Crete, Greece. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by these changes. The safety of our guests and crew remains our top priority, so rest assured we’ll continue to monitor this developing situation closely with our Global Security team. Nevertheless, we’re excited to sail away with you! Below, please find our revised Odyssey of the Seas May 5th, 2024 itinerary. You can walk narrow marble pathways laced with purple bougainvillea blooms or go cycling on two wheels past the off-the-path Ano Mera village. Your Day in Ephesus (Kusadasi) The UNESCO World Heritage ruins of Ephesus impress even those familiar with the world's other ancient cities. Check out the the Celsus Library – built in 117 A.D. – the site is made up of towering columns highlighted by the statue of the goddess of wisdom. Get a taste of Turkish life by strolling the seafront promenade and the bustling city center. Walk Marble Street, paved with actual marble slabs, which takes you from downtown to the Temple of Artemis – you can still see one lone remaining column from this wonder of the ancient world. Whatever you decide to do, we’re sure you’ll have a memorable time! texaskstar
Yeah we were supposed to go to Israel and Egypt on Voyager in late June, but they’ve canceled all our ports and now we’re going to Istanbul, Mykonos, Santorini, and Ephesus. While I’m disappointed we’ll miss Israel and Egypt, I am beyond excited to get to go to Istanbul and Ephesus. cedricmr and WAAAYTOOO
Traveler
Nice to see Royal already know what will be in the region almost one year ahead... Someone was very hurry to pull the trigger.

Also a pretty tough sell at the moment.
Xaa
The competition for open alternative ports would also increase as time goes by. texaskstar, TessFromFlorida and FloatyBoaty 1

Someone was very hurry to pull the trigger. It isn’t like finding a parking spot at the grocery store. These things get planned out years in advance typically. Honestly, they don’t have time to wait to see what happens. Once the fighting stops it will be 6 months to a year before ships return, but they will return. smokeybandit
They had to do be proactive here. Like the same reason they canceled Russia ports of call (and still haven't returned) when that war started. FloatyBoaty

No they don't know what's going to be happening in the region a year from now but at least they know but more importantly their guest know where their ships will be. Equally as important is their guest now have the information they need to either continue with the cruise, or cancel their cruise al together, and guest who've had their entire voyages canceled can decided what they want to do. The worst decision Royal or any cruise line for that matter can do right now is wait and see. Traveling from the US to Europe isn't cheap at all, I'm assuming most people if they book their airfare separately from the cruise line are probably just starting to look at prices. So yes now right now is the absolute time for Royal to cancel the 2024 season because waiting causes more problems. FloatyBoaty
Jill
So thankful we were able to do the Holy Land cruise last October. Truly an amazing experience. I hope everyone gets a chance at some point to visit Israel. cedricmr and 27th Lady

With this approach Royal need to cancel all cruises in the Caribbean from July to October as it might be cancel due to hurricane and you don't want to wait for the last minute to see there is a new hurricane . People are buying expensive flights and non refundable hotels ... michaelp1446 and WAAAYTOOO 1

What right minded person would get on line now and say, yes dear let's book a cruise in Israel in July next year. Hundreds of cruises sail the Carribbean in July each year, the likelihood of cancelling less than 1%.

Well as I think I know the geopolitics of the region July next year is far enough for thing to be much difference, but I might be wrong . At the end of the day RCL is a business.
