Bayonne Overnight

Recommended Posts

I think it depends on where you are flying in to, and what you want to see. If you are flying in to LGA or JFK, I personally would just stay in the city and have some time to explore, eat, and drink. If you are flying in to EWR, then going in to the city just to come back out may or may not be worth it...again, depending on what you want to do. If it's not worth it to you, Matt's link on area hotels is perfect.

If you want to see the city but also want convenience to the port, I recommend any of the hotels in the Jersey City/Newport area of NJ along the Hudson.  The subway-like PATH train has two stops in that area that can quickly and cheaply take you to midtown or downtown (ferries are also an option).  There is convenience shopping nearby in case you missed anything.  And it is only a quick 20 min (or less) drive/uber to the port.

Back in February we took Amtrak to Newark Penn Station and stayed at the Element-Harrison.  It was one stop up on the PATH train from (Newark) Penn Station.

It’s on par with every other Element/Aloft we’ve stayed in.  The staff was very friendly.  The breakfast was included, our room was clean and quiet, and it was an easy Lyft ride to the terminal.

Next February we are driving down instead of taking Amtrak and are doing a Park and Cruise package at the Springhill Suites Newark Airport.  We’ve never stayed at this specific one, but every Springhill Suites we’ve stayed in has been similar, so we’re assuming this one will follow suit.

We are flying in to EWR (October 19) and will be staying at the Springhill Suites Newark Airport.  If you are doing the Park and Cruise package - how are you getting to the cruise port?

Our plan right now is to take an Uber or Lyft.

Hi Folks. .we are cruising out of Bayonne, NJ but want to go down the day before.  Any recommendations for hotels?

Thanks!

We just stay in a hotel at the airport.  Use the free shuttle to the hotel, from the airport.  Then leave from there for the cruise port.  Hotels often have shuttles available to transfer passengers to cruise port.  Just easier for us as we always end up arriving in evening, as coming from west coast.  So just need a place to sleep.

Either Residence Inn Jersey City or Residence Inn Newark Airport/Elizabeth are great.  Included hot breakfast, good locations, easy trip to port. The Jersey City location is very convenient to NYC via public transport, the Newark location is right next to a huge mall and both are close to restaurants.

Am currently at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Newark Airport in Elizabeth. Free drink ticket per person in bar evening, hot breakfast included. We have a king 1 bedroom and the bed seems pretty comfy. Some aircraft noise but nowhere near the cacophony of the place I stayed when I was here for Anthem in January (home 2 suites airport-never again).

We also stayed at the Embassy Suites Newark Airport precruise.   There is a large mall and very nice multiplex theater reasonably close to the hotel.

Drove to the parking garage at Cape Liberty....does anyone know what that costs now?

@Teddy, for the stay and park package at the hotel, how much extra is the parking vs. regular hotel rate?

The lot at Cape Liberty is now $30 a night.

The rate without parking for the same date (Feb 2024) is $158.

$263 for the stay and 7 days parking after the first night.   Since we’re going on an 8-night cruise, there is an additional $17 a day parking.

It includes no fees for canceling up to 24 hours before.
