Fuzzywuzzy
We were on Labadee last Wednesday. I rented the Beach Lounger For 2 off the RC website months ago. I paid a hundred bucks for it. After properly checking in and getting a wristband at the excursion hut for this activity we went in and settled down. The area for the loungers was marked and roped off with a rope no more than 2 feet off the ground. I began to notice that people were nonchalantly walking past the hut to the far end, looking around and then stepping over the rope. They would then find an empty lounger and set up camp. There is no way to mistake this as a free amenity between the App, website and map. I found an employee walking around with a clipboard and told him. His reply was that yes, they knew what was happening but they were not allowed to confront people over things like that. I then asked him if this is the way things are done why did I have to pay $100 when you're telling me it's free to anyone stepping over the rope. He said he couldn't help me with that. I didn't lose anything, got exactly what was described and paid for, but seriously Royal?? Neesa, jbrinkm, RWDW1204 and 1 other
Pattycruise
I would believe they are trained to not confront. Sadly that’s the way things are. I agree, it sucks, because I would be the one paying too. Neesa, AHollyS and Fuzzywuzzy
ChessE4
Definitely an item for the post-cruise evaluation, but you might get a better response talking to staff on the ship. I find that when I write something down and give it to Customer Service, someone usually contacts me to discuss the issue. Swar
PatsFanBrian
I was on Labadee a few weeks ago in the same beach lounger area. It had occurred to me how easy it would for someone to just walk over the rope and grab a space. I did not recall seeing anyone doing that, but I'm not surprised that some will try it. It's disappointing that the staff is not trained to deal with this behavior other that to ignore it. Most people are honest, but all it takes is one to put a damper on things. Bowen
This happened to me years ago (probably 10 years ago) with renting some clamshell loungers on a beach, an RC excursion. I also never said anything, but it was a bit frustrating.
Fuzzywuzzy
Like I said, I got what I paid for, suffered no loss. Apparently this has gone on for years, with tacit approval from RC, so complaining further up the line would have been fruitless. But I think I have discovered a new excursion bonus. Grab a drink at the loungers bar and have a seat at one of the benches across the way and watch the rope jumping show! twangster
Some people shoplift despite it being both illegal and immoral. Just because some people do it doesn't justify it. You did the right thing paying for something that you know requires a payment. Bean79, Moby Dick, CrimsonCruiser and 2 others

This ^^^ Laws/rules/regulations are only as good as the people who choose to follow them, whether on a cruise ship, highway, retail establishment, etc. Moby Dick and CrimsonCruiser
Moby Dick
When I was in Barefoot Beach people were climbing over the rock/concrete wall to get in. The good news, the employees were very responsive and escorted those individuals out of the exclusive beach. Man the people that got caught weren't happy at all. A few of the authorized guests within Barefoot Beach were applauding the employees actions, me included. Fuzzywuzzy
