brooke1999 Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 Im a cruise newbee and trying to book two adults and an infant. I noticed that booking double occupancy suite is more expensive than booking a solo suite and solo inside room. Even if we dont end up utilizing the inside room it seems to be a better option. Can this be done? Any downside to booking two seperate rooms vs one on a double occupancy? Quote
AshleyDillo Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 You may have different muster stations. Not likely if you're booking in close proximity but something to keep in mind. Also the room steward in the suite will only be getting the suites rate for gratuity for 1 person if you book solo but they will have to do the cleaning for 3. Keep this in mind when considering extra gratuity for the suite steward. Only the person booked in the suite will have the suite privileges, so depending on the ship and suite category this could be significant or not significant. ChessE4 1 Quote
smokeybandit Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 That seems odd that a double occupancy suite would be more expensive than a solo suite plus another room WAAAYTOOO and Pattycruise 2 Quote

You need to book for 3 passengers. edit: also since this is your first cruise, be aware that there are minimum ages for infants to sail, 6 months, unless 3 or more sea days in a row, then minimum age is 1 year. what ship and sailing are you considering? FionaMG Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 It sounds like you're not counting the infant as an occupant, but you have to. Cruise ships are not like hotels where infants are not classed as occupants and you need to count every person (souls). So you need to be looking for a triple occupancy suite or a double occupancy plus a solo. Quote
BrianB Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 Curious why would a solo in a suite be that much less? Solos in a suite still have to pay double occupancy. Just taxes and port fees are for one person. And a solo in an inside also has to pay double occupancy. WAAAYTOOO and Pattycruise 2 Quote
WAAAYTOOO Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 I agree that something doesn't add up with this pricing scenario. I have real trouble believing that single occupancy in a suite (which would be priced at double occupancy unless the cruiser is >340 points and even then it would still be 1.5 occupancy) would be less than double occupancy in a suite. I think there is a mistake in this, somewhere. Allen2, BrianB and AspiringCruisePlanner 2 1 Quote
twangster Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 Once in a while a sail date doesn't have a single supplement. Earlier today I was looking at a Quantum sailing that had 0% single supplement but now, a few hours later it's gone. They are pretty rare so if you see something populate back into the system don't spend a lot of time thinking about it. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
