Any reason NOT to disembark with own luggage?

Going on our first cruise 8/23 for 55th Anniv. and both my wife and I have mobility issues. I use a scooter and wife uses a cane. I figure we will set our bags out the night before keep a small carry bag for meds etc, and just chill in the public areas till the crowds thin out. We live 40 min. from Port Canaveral and Daughter is picking us up so no hurry.

I suppose it depends we usually have two pretty full cases with slacks, suit, toiletries but we always go on 7 day cruises with 2-3 days either before or after so need the supplies, we don't want to be walking around with sweat stained t-shirts on day 5 lol

I moved my luggage through the ship once and the carpets make it tough going so I prefer to let someone else do  the heavy lifting after the cruise.

My fellow vacationers are lucky I pack even the most basic clothes. If I could stroll on with a garbage bag full of just shorts and t-shirts, I would.

It's very important you only disembark with your own luggage. Royal Caribbean and the port authority tend to frown upon those who also take other's luggage with them home from a cruise.

As a suite member for our last cruise on Enchantment of the Seas which ended today, we were escorted to the main dining room upper floor starboard side and waited with the Pinaccle loyalty members to be the first group off the ship. We disembarked the ship at 8 AM.

At the Baltimore port, they will kindly remind you that the passport book is technically not a legal document until you endorse it with your signature.

We always carry off our luggage.  No hassle the night before.  And you can debark whenever you want. And we like to leave ship as late as possible.   Also saves time in the terminal.   I also have had luggage taken by other passengers.  Not fun.  We do not think taking the luggage to breakfast is much of an ordeal, and then can relax and have longer breakfast.  We do not book early flights home, and often stay 1 night after cruise before flying home.

You're looking at 8:45-9:00 in most cases. As the count of passengers gets smaller and smaller, the number of announcements that all luggage tags have been called gets more frequent.
