HOTS Genie

Hello all!

 

I've been following a ton of feeds, but just need to ask a simple question.  We are in a 2-bedroom aqua for the Oct 20 sailing. 41 days out!! My concern is when to expect the genie to reach out vs when I should reach out to give them a little push..When is a good timeline to start panicking? ha!

You will be sent an email a week or two before the cruise.

The 2BR ATS is my favorite cabin that I've ever sailed in.  You will have a blast!

It has been my experience that the Genie will probably contact you by email around 30 days prior to your cruise.  I seem to recall the generic questionnaire coming at about 2 months out but maybe it wasn't that far in advance.  My guess is that the questionnaire will be coming VERY soon.  Check your spam folder AND your garbage !  Many direct mailings from RCCL go directly to my trash can for reasons I have never understood.

The Genie will correspond with you by email until about 1 week prior to sail date and at that time he/she will send you a link to the Loop app (assuming they are still using that app....it's kinda worthless, TBH).  Once you get on board your fastest and most dependable way to reach the Genie is by phone.  The Genie will give you their personal cell phone number and you can get ahold of them at any time.

Congratulations on the ATS.  It is an amazing suite !  It's a bit of a walk to get there but so worth it.  Which deck ?  We've been on 8 (twice) and 9 once - all on Harmony.

People who have had Sebastian have said great things about him.  The general consensus is that he is not great with pre-cruise communication but once on board, he takes great care of you.  We met him on Harmony back in March, he wasn't our Genie but he is good friends with our Genie.  He's a very funny guy.  @WAAAYTOOO had him before.  I'm sure she can shed some light.

That is wonderful to hear! I'm so excited! It's been almost 2 years since I've been in SC so, I can't remember much about pre-cruise business.😋 We have been on smaller ships without SC since. I can't wait to be back on Oasis Class (my favorite)! There's no comparison when it comes to suite perks! 18 days!! HOS here we come!😍

Yes, we had Sebastian as our Genie a few years ago on Harmony.  Is he still on Harmony ?  He’s a very laid back Genie...so different from Reyno, who was our Genie the first 2 times.  He’s a bit like Yen in that he will do precisely what you ask of him but does not anticipate much.  Perhaps that’s a good thing. No sense in wasting time and effort doing something that you family may not want.  Charlie was the best at anticipating though....he just has a natural knack for it.

Sebastian does have a great sense of humor once you get to know him.  That was back in our Aqua Theater Suite days (I think we did 4 in a row !) and when he would come to our suite for something he would always pretend he was out of breath from all the walking.  It was very cute.  He is a strapping and healthy young lad so there is no way that walk would put HIM out of breath !  Me, yep.  Him....nah.

He is very very efficient and he doesn’t mess around when he’s solving a problem. On that particular cruise we had a problem with our credit card.  So ironic seeing as how our CC is a Royal Caribbean Visa card but for some reason, THAT time they questioned our charges.  It never occurred to us to let them know we were going on a cruise (we do now !) and when we started racking up the casino bucks they threw up the red flag.  Sebastian set up a personal meeting immediately with the head of the ship’s revenue department to get it all squared away.  He went straight to the top dog and did not leave until the problem was rectified.  Period. The lady (and I can’t remember her name, of course) gave us her card and her personal phone number and said that if we had ANY more issues to call her immediately.  It was very reassuring and we were grateful that Sebastian knew exactly how to handle it.

I am somewhat surprised that you are hearing from your Genie so late.  Maybe they’ve changed their MO for first contact.  I’m certain that Yen contacted us well before Sebastian seems to have contacted you and that was only 7 months ago.  Anyway..glad your are on the glide path now.

I felt the same way! Te only reason I gave him a little extra time is because of the extended hurricane cruise. But 2 1/2 weeks out is NOT a good way to start with me. I will give him the benefit of the doubt & start fresh with him. If I don't think he's doing a good job I will speak with his boss quickly.😉

As an update, we found out there was somehow NO email on file for us..which explains why we've received ZERO communication!  So I've since received an introduction email for the Genie, explaining to book shore excursions/spa things, etc.  Our genie is Andrei..not sure if anyone knows her.  I'm curious to see what the next piece of communication is, I'm sure we've missed the survey window.  We shall see what happens.

Wow, that’s hard to believe !  I’m glad you finally got some comm going though.  Late is better than never !  Oh well...you didn’t miss anything with that dumb survey.  

I have not heard of Andrei before so she must be newish.

My bad..Andrei is male. Not sure if anyone knows HIM lol

Hi! We have Sebastian on 10/6... let me know how he is please! He has been awful with communication, I ended up calling Royal after not getting a response for 12 days about cabanas and other reservations. He responded last night, reviews seem good for him and excited to meet him. Would be good to know a little more about him before our cruise.

We leave in a week and never received anything other than a generic welcome email from our genie a month ago.  I’ve asked a few questions and received responses quickly originally but not anymore and no questions about preferences.  Kinda disappointing...
