It would be interesting to add menu options, or complete Dining Options that are more localized based upon where the ship is coming from ...
 
For Example .... For Grandeur out of Baltimore --- a good "Maryland Style" Seafood Restaurant .... Plenty of Blue Crabs, Crab Cakes, etc.... use a local (Baltimore) supplier, or even better, local restaurant, such as Phillips to bring the flavor of the Chesapeake on the ship .... Being a native, I find myself bringing a container of Old Bay on board .... It goes good on EVERYTHING!!!

How about a good and I mean good deli. Corned beef and pastrami, bagels and lox? I worked in a deli years ago and we baked fresh bagels everyday, from frozen dough, and they were great. It's not that hard. This might be an easy concept that could be used for late hours. Who doesn't love a good Rueben at 1am?

As long as RC doesn't become the Oldsmobile or Pontiac. Or Yugo or AMC. :D 

In some ships, they do have a poolside BBQ.
 
BBQ does seem to be making its rounds through the industry, though. Carnival has added Guy Fierri BBQ restraunts to most of its ships and Princess is added a surcharge BBQ restraunt to its Caribbean Princess which is in dry dock right now.
 
Personally, I'd like to see a French restraunt. I'd be okay with BBQ, but I'd want an international BBQ restraunt where they had traditional, Hawaiian, Korean, etc. That I think would be cool, unique, and eclectic and more importantly different from the rest.

I blame high speed internet. I think we should go back to 300 baud dialup modems so we can really appreciate delayed gratification. While we're at it, we should bring back rotary phones; that should slow things down.

I saw them in use on Navigator in February and haven't read about any restrictions yet.  I know Disney parks prohibit them.  While I don't own a selfie stick, I can't think of a time they've impeded my ability to have a good and safe time, though the same could be said for shorts in the main dining room ;-)  [drops match and walks away]

If any of the above items mentioned, improve, then it will be worth the $7.95 charge, maybe. I'm going to give room service a try in Oct. I won't know if it's better than before, never having cruised before, but I will give my honest opinion about quality of food and service.

It's the instant gratification generation. I want it and I want it now. People don't want to wait for anything now. I blame microwave popcorn and instant rice! ;)  They even sell microwave instant rice! :blink: 

How early do you have to arrive to save pool chairs for a group of 8? ;) 

With the current industry trend to continue to build bigger ships, any chance they will build new smaller ships?
I think, at least with a lot of people here, some of their favorite ships are the smaller ones.
At some point, you can only retrofit the smaller ships to a point to keep them updated with the newest amenities.

So I know that you can have beds pushed together to form a king size bed.
Do then they just make it as one bed, with one sheet and comforter? Still two separate mattresses, yes?
Anybody ever have any issues about the bed separating?
I know that people say there are no silly questions, but this might be the first.

I usually cruise with a pair of sandals and one pair of "dress" shoes for formal nights. Don't need much of a shoe organizer for that. Of course, I do take a ration of you know what from she-who-mus- be- obeyed about my footwear.

Your package includes drinks, up to $12. So anything over $12, you are responsible for the extra $. From what I've read, a general rule of thumb, is that you will need to consume about six drinks a day to make it worth the package price. If I'm wrong, somebody will correct me.

I would imagine, since it's been so long since you've cruised, it will be like cruising for the first time again. Seeing how far ships have come and changed, in just the last ten years, or so. Good luck and enjoy!

We just booked our first family cruise on the Harmony for May 2018 and super excited :D .  This is our first cruise as a family with my last cruise back in the mid 90s in my teens, my wife's in the early 2000s and our 3 kids (will be 7,6 and 5 at time of cruise) first all together. Western Caribbean itinerary, 2 boardwalk balcony rooms since we will have my mom and brother with us also. My previous cruise was back on the old Norwegian ship the SS Norway so this will be quite a different experience for me. Im sure ill have tons of questions before then so will post here when the time comes.

Just a shout out to you for starting this thread!
It really continues to have people really thinking and expressing their thoughts and opinions.

I agree with what everybody has said about etiquette. It goes beyond just the elevators of course. The world would be a much better place if everybody just cared half as much for each other, as they care about themselves. A little goes a long way.

Interesting. I saw some folks do a little "tweaking" and though it different. I don't find it strong but rather very flavorful.

I heard about a senior citizen who insisted that the microwave in his room did not work. When the maintenance man showed up, he pointed out that the "microwave" was actually the safe. So, no, there are no microwaves.

My complaint is when an elevator shows up, and you have to walk to the other end of the lobby to get it, someone onboard presses the close doors button as soon as the doors open so you have no chance to catch it.  Once again, not following good elevator etiquette.

This makes sense, even with more limited offerings. I don't think they need to run a full menu after regular hours, just give people an alternative to just sandwiches. Although there are those people who feel like not offering a full menu after a certain hour would be another included perk being removed. But as always, you are not going to please everyone.
