After speaking with RC about Perfect Day, while they would not talk of what's next, it does seem that the success of CocoCay has increased the drive to get the other islands (including Labadee) moving perhaps faster than before. That was my take on what I was hearing.

We did an adult cousins cruise on Anthem, a group of 10.  4 people in the party never sailed on RCL.  They kept asking what is this show...we just kept saying, just go with the flow and you will have fun, nobody told them anything about the show.  1 cousin who never saw this before could not stop laughing throughout the entire show.  He went on Anthem again 6 months later with his wife's family that never sailed Royal.  He did the same thing, would not tell them what it was about, only to go with the flow.  They laughed just as much.
One thing I would say is that show usually ends up standing room only, so make sure you get there early enough if you are traveling as a group so you can seats together.

    @Mathew Jones
Many of repeat RCL cruisers know they will ask for a thong item.  You know repeat cruisers because they wear flip flops and hand them.  YES, flip flops count because it is considered a thong.
I dress appropriately for that show.  I wear a strapless bra and, flip flops.  We have won on those 2 because we were the fastest and I never showed anything.
I agree Quest is not for the faint of heart.  The 1st time we attended one woman took off her top to take her bra off.  She never put it back on for the rest of the show.
Most people that have attended the Quest keep what happens quiet just to see the shock value on the faces of 1st time Quest guests.
I have never heard them ask for pasties.
I also thought that guests must be 18 or older.

Has anyone taken part in one of the onboard shows called Crazy Quest?  If you have the ability to go to that show I highly recommend it.  It is very much an interactive/ audience participation show that is only for people over the age of 17.  If you like to participate in the show be close to the stage or on the end of an aisle that goes directly down to the stage.
If you wonder what it is I will give you a quick breakdown.  It is basically a scavenger hunt type game for items in the crowd.  For example one of the items was someone from your team had to have a drivers license with an Austin, TX address on the license.  This was on the mild side.  It went adult very fast.  VERY FAST.
If you are wondering how adult it gets here is an first hand example:  I saw a passenger run on stage only in pasties and a thong.  YES, you read that correct only PASTIES and a THONG.  For ones that may not know pasties are similar to stickers that go over a females nipples.  And thong is referring to underwear.

In case you missed Matt's day at Coco Cay someone while he was doing his video asked for his autograph  His reaction was funny.  Another person approached him on Chill Island.  Again, he was in shock
Matt is becoming the RCL Rock Star!
OBTW Matt I am sailing in July and already have 1 magnet for my cabin door, (Adventure) along with others in our group.  I would def. buy a Matt signature magnet if the price was right.  Think about it for the group cruise.    MATT APPROVED with your signature might be fun!

An interesting twist to the drive that'll put you further south than 528.....
Get on 417 East as if you're going to MCO ..... (You'll have a couple of tolls of $1.75 each)
Right after the Airport and Lake Nona Exits ..... take the exit for Narcoossee south towards St. Cloud.  What's nice about this is that you avoid all the lights in Kissimmee AND St. Cloud (Narcoossee is on the east side of SC).....
It'll be a few miles down Narcoossee (past Lake Nona and that whole area) ..... then turn left onto 192 East towards Melbourne ..... you'll pass by the Harmony Golf Preserve.  It takes a little over a 1/2 hour to get to I-95 once you're on 192 ..... be warned.... the road is BORING..... long straight stretches of nothing.
Going this route will put you well below 528 and all the Space Center/Port Canaveral traffic.

When we drove down to Lauderdale from the Orlando, that's the exact route we took, because of this reason ..... it went flawless.
Question..... when you rent the car, are you headed straight to Miami?  If not, where in the Orlando area will you be?  I know, if you're in the Kissimmee/St. Cloud .... it's actually quicker to go 192 east towards Melbourne .... it'll shave some time off the drive, and, no tolls at all.

It's very interesting that you say this....
Many years ago, when we were still very new to cruising, we met a couple of cruising veterans in San Juan and spent an entire afternoon chatting.  They told us that one day we would no longer be "in love" with cruising in the Caribbean and we would need to branch out and start doing other kinds of itineraries.  At first glance, this seems like a very Captain Obvious kind of statement but it's taken us a while to actually get there.  We truly have evolved in our cruising style(s).  We no longer get off the ship in many of the Caribbean ports.  We are no longer satisfied with the MDR meals.  While we still LOVE cruising, we really are getting tired of cruising in the Caribbean !  Since we are still working, it is difficult for us to do the longer and more exotic itineraries, but once we retire I can see a big change to the way we cruise.  I think this happens to most long term cruisers.  You see it with the Pinnacles.  Of course they still cruise in the Caribbean from time-to-time but they definitely favor the longer and more "unusual" itineraries.  I can't WAIT until we can do some Baltic states and Persian Gulf and Pacific Island and Australia and New Zealand and Far East cruises - all back-to-back !  ?

You're right about Galveston politics @twangster. It's been a crazy political climate with a thriving "good ole' boy (and girl)" network since the pirate Jean Lafitte arrived on the island in the early 19th century.  It continued through the gambling and prostitution of the first half of the 20th century, and is alive and well today.
Up until now the Port of Galveston has invested in improving the cruise terminal assets on a shoestring budget with local funding.  Early this year the Port hired new Port Director Rodger Rees (the Deputy Executive Director and CFO at Port Canaveral).  He's brought an outside perspective and knowledge of how to run a large cruise port.  I think his leadership was key to Royal agreeing to build and pay for the terminal instead of the Port building and paying for it.  Of course the Port being many months late on expanding Terminal 2 for Liberty of the Seas a couple years ago probably helped Royal decide they need to control the Terminal 3 project.  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

What we use when we were traveling internationally was  Across the Body bags especially designed for travelers. They have steel reinforced shoulder straps, RFID pockets, room enough for a point and shoot camera, and most have a water bottle holder.
Wife has a BeSafeBag by Daymakers and I have a Travelon Anti Thief Classic Bag. Both on Amazon. Mine is a bit larger than hers and can hold a 10" tablet to her 8".

My husband and I have nicknames for each other.  You can see my moniker is PIMA.  He gave me that nickname 25 yrs ago during a fight.  I called him anal, he responded if I am, than you are a Pain in My A...
Not only does my husband have blue folders for everything in our life, but different blue folders for each aspect.  1 for our monthly bills due, 1 for paid, 1 for tax deductions, 1 for our DDs wedding, 1 for our cruise (planner to be left with our son while we are away), 1 for cruise docs (excursions pd., etc).  I blame this addiction on the Air Force

First, it is called a cabin and a deck. Now you can sound like an experienced cruiser. ? We always pay additional gratuities (you prepaid the gratuities, right?) toward the end. Tipping up front, is like tipping your waitress at your restaurant at home, is soon as you sit down. Makes no sense to me. Some people like to do it that way, any that is fine. We have not seen any lack of service with our cabin steward by tipping at the end. Unfortunately, we have not been able to tip any of the MDR staff extra. We usually find bar staff that deserve extra, though.
    Enjoy your cruise!
