When we walked off between 8:30am and 9am for Anthem in March, it was fast.  No waiting.  And we always carry off all our luggage.  Ship to curb was about 15min. I found Cape Liberty to be the speediest embarkation/disembarkation ever compared to any other port.

Not what I said nor implied. I am simply using peoples justification for banning straws here, and  applying the same reasoning to cruising. ......
Here's some info on Harmony of the Seas :(one of the worlds "cleanest" cruise ships)
-burns as much as 66,000 gallons of the most polluting diesel fuel a day
-emits more sulfur than 2 million cars
-more particulate emissions than thousands of city busses

Air pollution from shipping(all kinds) accounts for about 50,000 premature deaths in Europe alone........so yeah, tell me again about how banning those straws on your next cruise is really helping the environment....doesn't anyone else see the irony of this??! It shouldn't be even a discussion or debated.

    I rest my case....point made!

First they came for my straws, and I said nothing.
Then they came for my plastic cups, and I said nothing.
Then they came for my ocean cruises, but by then the internet had also been shut off to save electricity so I could say nothing.

How about we all stop taking cruises.......if your going to talk the walk, walk the walk.

That would be doing the right thing......so very PC.....all it would take would getting a couple celebrities to endorse it and a couple "studies" by environmental groups and we would have  a world wide campaign to boycott cruising.

Imagine how much we would save then...ur basically paying money to pollute the oceans when you cruise. Think of the tremendous energy and pollution that's used to power each cruise.....so lets all try and do our part to reduce the amount of cruises we take....

Seems crazy doesn't it...but then again so did banning straws 5 years ago...

There is a system. If I see an unattended lounger for 30 minutes while I am waiting for one, the stuff gets moved, by me. They can take it up with me when they return. SImple. ?

Thanks for the replies, guys.  Seriously considering reserving one. If only the bungalows came with an attendant to grab drinks to avoid the lines at the bars!! I would be all over it!! Lol Last time at Labadee it was pretty bad.  Just got off the Oasis and there was great improvement on the number of bar servers on the pool deck and in the theater.  In my observation, since the start of drink packages, that services declined big time.  Much, much better this time.  Hope it carries over to the private islands.

Witholding judgment until I see it/try it but I cringe every time I see the pictures ... what used to be a beautiful peaceful island looks like a kids playground exploded all over it ... if it truly is peaceful and relaxing on the backside still then it probably wont ruin it for me to walk through it but I have a hard time envisioning the floating tiki bar area being the same after the redo.

Nickel and dime? No, it's more like 50s and 100s.
Yet another reason to select itineraries that don't include this stop or to spend the day on the ship with minimized crowds.

I will be interested to see how many ppl get off the ship vs. who stays on. In my opinion a lot more will be staying on the ship...all these changes and costs will only  appeal to a small demographic.....I don't think Coco Cay will any longer be a relaxing or quiet beach day...even if you are staying at the "free" section of the island.

I agree.  I enjoy the laid back vibe and kinda do whatever I want of Coco Cay,  I more than likely wouldn't pay for the extras but for those who want that I don't have to pay for theirs.  Fine with me

Personally I love sea days for the relaxation they offer.  I don't need a cruise director loading up the schedule with hairy chest or belly flop contests to keep me occupied.  Give me sea air and a sunny day - I'm all set.
Homework, hanging out in the pool, rock climbing, maybe some trivia, bring a book book to sink into.  Quality family time without bumper cars or a flow rider.  But only you know you, and you are not me.  Nothing wrong with that.  Research the ship, if you are concerned it isn't right for you, listen to your gut.  Not every ship is right for every person.

IMHO I think that RC took the development of CC too far. I was excited for the new dock and not having to tender but not so much anymore. The Thanksgiving itinerary for Anthem is Bayonne, Port Canaveral, Nassau and Coco Cay. Canaveral/Cocoa Beach isn't a great port if you have been there more than once. Nassau is not worth getting off the ship for (discussed here many times in multiple threads) and with the changes at Coco Cay I don't think we will be getting off the ship for the whole cruise which is a bummer. I wonder how many more people will be staying on board.....so much for "quiet" days in port and being able to take advantage of the spa specials.....

So for your typical family of 4, it will be $156 for a half day and $176 for a full!  If you're @melski94, then it's even more!
We'll be staying on the ship to enjoy the "free" pool. lol

We did have a little trouble hooking up at the FLL pier (All the traffic), he was about 15 minutes late, so I was starting to panic, getting ready to go to every limo and asking them who they were supposed to pick up, but about the time I panicked the driver called, it was nothing more than a Ford Excursion, but nice, plus I think he probably contracted out, because I saw a Uber and/or Lyft sticker on the windshield also.

whenismynextcruise reacted to Joe01 in What are your opinions on sailing from certain homeports?
Sure. Maybe I am being a bit harsh on it as Baltimore was my first cruise outside of Europe (actually my first visit to the United States), but right away when we arrived in Washington, the first thing we saw was a "Welcome Home All Americans" banner and those who were non American were completely ignored. That sort of set the tone.
So as for cruising from Baltimore, I mainly mean that it attracts a much more mature clientele than what I usually sail with. Even during the summer, it didn't seem to attract much of a young crowd, and it was pretty much made up of only Americans. They didn't seem to try and cater for non American guests on that sailing, and Baltimore is too much of a pain to get to anyway. I would go to New Jersey and sail on AD or AN if I wanted to do those itineraries again (which I do).
Then again, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the East Coast.

I've been keeping my mouth shut, but I really feel like I need to chime in. You say you want to be a CD and that you'd do such a great job of it, and then you make a comment like this.
I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about what goes into being a "great" CD, but I would imagine that having an incredible sense of tact and knowing at a near-instinctive level what topics to avoid talking about so as not to piss off your audience and sour their experience have to be two of the qualifications. As a citizen of the US, I was flat-out insulted and offended by that comment, and no amount of subsequent backtracking or clarifying from you is going to change that.

whenismynextcruise reacted to twangster in “Suite Lounge” ........
I think Junior Suites should be given access to suite lounge.  Maybe they can set up kid tables in the corner of suite lounge so that everyone can see "those are the junior suite people" sitting in smaller chairs at a low table.
Seriously - all that money for JS and what do you get?  A walk in closet and double points.  On a handful of ships you get Coastal kitchen dinner.  RCI needs to throw the JS people a bone.

I think any Suite level above JS should enjoy exclusive perks that are separate from what the Pinnacle folks receive. One is based on Ststus and the other is based on spending more money to have a more exclusive experience. It’s great that you have achieved Pinnacle but if you didn’t book a suite for a particular cruise then you shouldn’t have business in the Suite Lounge. Just my opinion.

My concern with the person who has been dealing with illness is that everyone has to fill out and sign a questionnaire that asks about recent illness.  If you are ill and sign this document stating that you are not sick, then try and see the ships doctor for an ongoing illness, there could be ramifications.  Now, I fully understand that the ship is screening for communicable types of illnesses, not sinus infections but I don’t think I would chance it.  If someone is sick now, I would recommend that they see a physician NOW and get medicine to try and knock it out before boarding.  If for no other reason, seeing the ships doctor is very pricey and seeing a doctor beforehand would certainly be less expensive than seeing one on board.
