Carlos A. got a reaction from mk-ultra in What happened to RC service?
I was bitting my tongue to not address this kind of comments but couldn't do it.
Calling Costa Maya a slums and a Junk port seems harsh and uninformed. The dock could be called "Costa Maya" but really is the town of Mahahual what you're visiting when you're there. It's a shame you didn't gave yourself the chance to know the place.

Costa Maya is a great port….if you know what you are doing there and have it planned out in advance. I actually look for itineraries with this port. If you go without a plan, that’s on you.

Wow! While it is fair to criticize Royal, please don't blame Costa Maya and Roatan. Each port can offer amazing experiences. Cruisers see poverty wherever they travel, even in the US. Post Covid we've all had to adjust our travel expectations. Give Royal your feedback, both positive and negative. We've all had at least one disappointing trip. PS. Agree with you on the spa....

Carlos A. reacted to twangster in Starlink Internet could be coming to Royal Caribbean
During the Icon preview tour posted by Matt I caught a glimpse of an access point in an Icon cabin they toured.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arcmBdCs6lk
It appears Icon will have access points in each cabin. They appear to be Cisco 9501AXW access points.

In a way you can purchase status: book a suite
Just you have to give the status back when you leave.

It means you've got a longer thread going on a website with the initials CC where you've gotten plenty of feedback.

Carlos A. got a reaction from CrimsonCruiser in Perfect Day Beach bed rental
In my case I received a phone call to my cabin a day or two days before getting there asking how many people would be in the beach bed. Then I received a letter with my beach bed number already assigned and the instructions to check in on the beds desk.

WOW. NO THANKS on the complete lack of compassion here. "Forgetting" (in quotes?) What is that supposed to mean?
My friend has 3 kids, one of which is graduating from high school in 2 weeks, so there are many activities with the soon to be grad. All 3 kids are in sports, and music/theater, so she has been to 9 arts performances and 5 games in the past week. Oh, and she WORKS. And is a youth group leader at her church. She also has health issues, including Type 1 diabetes. She is one of the most organized and giving people I know. A reminder arrived and she just missed it. She's amazing, but human.
I asked for ADVICE, not judgement. Screw you.

Revenue mgmt - "We have 100 cabins of type X. We'll sell 100 cabins at $1,000, then keep selling them at $1,500. If we sell any of them at $1,500 we'll just cancel the ones we sold at $1,000".

$69 for transportation to St. John and back. At least those folks won't get left behind if the transport is late getting back.

Yea... I think the days of claiming it's an IT glitch are long gone. At this point, it's a feature... not a bug.

Carlos A. reacted to Leroyr55 in Here's a good example why medivacs are a last resort for cruise ships
What’s missed here is how lucky we are to have people in the Coast Guard doing their job every day. Also the risks they endure doing their job.

Carlos A. reacted to mk-ultra in Here's a good example why medivacs are a last resort for cruise ships
A helo can get in to all kinds of icky stuff like vortex ring state sucking up it's own rotor wash. WX like that sucks, and as an airline pilot one of the suckiest things I've ever experienced around thunderstorms is a micro down-burst. You can be at 100% power trying to climb out of it and still be shoved downward. Not fun. Only experienced it once going into to Sacramento, and glad that was the only time.
I don't know enough about flying rotary wing, but heck ya the pilot did the right thing about noping out of that. Not safe for the patient or the aircraft.

Carlos A. reacted to osok in Now They Did It To Kids Menu
My post was really a tougue in cheek post about a senior not able to order banana split from kid's menu. Please know that a kid or senior can still order all the ice cream they desire with toppings, just bring your banana from somewhere else on the ship. lol

"Not that hard"
Are you serious? It's incredibly complex to build a new port on the West coast. The terrain and geography just don't lend itself and the risk of the cartel wrecking it all is very real. Mexico is the last place cruise lines are going to invest $200 million only to see it lost with one cartel event.

Carlos A. reacted to CPCruiser4Life in Insane price difference....
We're on the oasis of the seas.
Booked two rooms, 11th deck forward. We couldn't get connecting staterooms for the same price. Just for giggles, I wanted to find out how much more it would move to the two cabins, directly NEXT to us on the ship that are still available, but connecting.
You might want to sit down for this. We're talking INTERIOR staterooms. All four rooms are IDENTICAL in the location, just one pair happens to have a connecting door to both staterooms. You ready for this?!?!!?
They wanted nearly $4000 to 'upgrade' us to connecting staterooms. I felt like it would be cheaper to bring a hammer, do it myself, and pay the repair bills after the cruise.
Really?!?!?! $4000 to get a door between staterooms....wowowowow.

Carlos A. got a reaction from CrimsonCruiser in Taking drinks off ship.
They sometimes have a cooler with drinks right before the gangway and you can take them unopened off the ship so its doable.
