tonyfsu21 got a reaction from PPPJJ-GCVAB in COVID - Allure of the Seas
It’s the new normal. You probably will get it during a week of cruising. I’m sailing Freedom this weekend and there’s a strong possibility that I will get home feeling sick as well. Hopefully you are healthy w/o a compromised immune system and Covid will be a non issue for you and whoever you are sailing with. It’s a risk vs reward type scenario and personally I will take my chances given the fact that you could get Covid walking through the supermarket just as easy.

It's not a line jumper if the bartender serves you next. People at busy bars basically jockey for position and try to get the bartenders attention to get a drink. If you take care of a bartender anywhere, you better believe they're going to "notice" you much quicker than the person who hasn't left a dime the last few rounds.

I bet it would. It wouldn’t matter if it was in Europe or Pakistan because the universal line jumper is always money.

Regarding whether or not a staff member actually keeps the cash tips or puts them into a combined fund...I have finally decided that it isn't my business and I don't really worry about it. I leave the tip I'm going to leave and what happens to it after it leaves my hand is irrelevant to me. Sure, I would rather have the person who provided me the service get the money, but the tip sharing policy is not something that I have any control over. The only thing I can control is whether or not I leave a tip, so I do.
I follow this "rule" whether it's a bartender or a meal server. I tip at every meal whether I eat at a specialty restaurant or the Windjammer. 99% of the time I leave my tip on the table and depart the pattern. What happens to that money after I leave is, and will always remain, a mystery. It's simply none of my business.

Yes, being a generous tipper to the bartenders is not only the right thing to do but also can garner some nice perks. I could stand 4 deep at the casino bar and it’s guaranteed my red stripe beer is going to be handed to me first.

Check this thread, the question was answered above. The answer is “yes” and pack the air wrap in your carry on do not check it with porters.

Drinks - $1/drink if you get great service.
Specialty dining - cash or seapass. 18% included but we normally tip extra ($10-$20) for excellent service.
Coastal Kitchen - depending on how many times you eat there but maybe average $5-$10 per meal
Room service - $3-$5
Stateroom - my young kids make a mess. I tip $100-$200 in addition to the pre paid gratuities.
Do you tip at any of the quick service places? No
Do you tip anyone at lunch and breakfast? No

It’s much less of a hassle to just call an Uber or Lyft.

We had Mason Jar brunch today. So.Much.Food. Good but perhaps a bit disappointing after all the hype. That’s usually the case with a new venue that is highly hyped. Good enough to go back ? Yes.

The great mystery. It depends on how often the dealer and the pit boss decide to throw you a bone and note your play. I’m not a huge table game fan for this reason because there are too many variables regarding the points calculation and this is NOT Vegas. Slot machines seem to be a better fit for earning points.

Please let me know how to get 6500 points with $2000 because that seems like a pipe dream. The math just doesn’t work out.

This is a good point re: cash for the bartenders and baristas. I’m glad to see that I’m not alone tipping “hundreds” during the span of a 7 day voyage because there are some people on this thread that consider that excessive for whatever reason. I need to bring more singles because they don’t last long enough and I eventually start tipping on the seapass receipt which gets thrown into the tip pool.

I believe there are still generous people out there (especially on vacation). What is the point of spewing BS to a bunch of random people on a forum like this? Also what does “tip hundreds of dollars” mean (like at once or over a 7 day period)? I guess I am in the 10% of people that will “tip hundreds of dollars” over a 7 day cruise and I am not full of BS. These crew members work very hard and I don’t mind tipping well at all.

I agree. My post on page one of this thread reflects just that. The additional tipping should be at the discretion of the individual and not dictated by the opinion of a random person on this thread. If you ask the question though, you are going to get a range of answers that you may not agree with and that’s fine.
