  1. I am the opposite, I prefer the later time and grab a snack from the Windjammer around 5 pm to hold me until 8 pm.
  2. Will you share the proportions for a martini please? Many thanks.
  3. I thought it was a good question and was able to become educated with the responses. Thanks for asking. I was always told by my teachers that there is no such thing as a silly question.
  4. I will be Allure in under 2 weeks. I have signed up for Taste of Royal. It was not my cup of tea but since most in my group, I figure I rather go than miss some time with my family. We also will be doing the wine pairing for an extra $19.99. I will let you know how it is. I did see this on the RC website about Taste of Royal: Substitutions are available in case of dietary preferences or allergens. Please inform the Restaurant Manager onboard the day before your reservation.
  5. This is funny - the discussion about boat vs ships. During my boating course I took in NH, the class was asked why does the classification for boats only go up to 65 feet. Since I have been on ships and HAVE BEEN correct for calling the ship a boat, I knew the answer. The instructor was surprise I knew the answer since I had told him that I knew next to nothing about boating. But I knew the difference between a boat and a ship. LOL!
  6. I am a fanny pack fan. I wear it in the front. My kids always tease me but I love the convent. Cross body bags are uncomfortable for me.
  7. Costa Maya - but since then, I have heard of ships going both before my date and after my date. That was one port I had really wanted to see. It was replaced with Nassau, which I have been to. Oh well. It is still a cruise and a vacation for me.
  8. I don't care because when I book, I plan on going. I purchase travel insurance just in case I can't.
  9. I like it to test out the waters. With the shore excursions, I can just get a taste of what a country is like. If I enjoyed my time, I will look into doing a land vacation in that country. But I relax better on a cruise than anywhere else. No worries!
  10. I will be on Allure in just 2 weeks. (YEAH!) We were originally schedule to be at Coco Cay with 2 other ships. But 2 months ago, they switched our itinerary around. We will now be at Coco Cay with just one other ship. They also switched ports because of the cartel in Mexico.
  11. Its royal so why not some royal names: King of the Sea Queen of the Sea Prince of the Sea Princess of the Sea - oh wait, has that one been taken? LOL
  12. I was thinking the same thing. But we all tested negative, including the grandchild's parents. Go figure. So, now that I am within 2 weeks of the cruise, my fingers and toes are cross. NO COVID!!!
  13. Who is in favor of bringing the Roman numerals back into use? I for one.
  14. June 29th is your first available testing date. You can get the rapid test, which will only take 15 minutes. You can also do emed proctor by phone. You will need to have a camera for the proctor to watch your test strip. Again, only 15 minutes. Good luck.
  15. Oh goodness - I am experiencing this RIGHT NOW!! Fortunately I am 2.5 weeks out but last night my son called telling me his son (my grandson) just tested positive for COVID. Yes, we had them over for Memorial Weekend. Now everyone in the family is scrambling for a PCR test since our home tests have been showing negative. At least if I do have COVID, I should be well enough to cruise on June 19th. Fingers and toes are crossed.
  16. Except when it is out of date. I am on the Allure. Originally the ship was going to Coco Cay on Monday, June 20th. It is now going to Coco Cay on Thursday, June 23rd. The CruiseMapper is still showing Allure coming in on Monday even though our schedule was changed back in early April.
  17. I know for a fact that when an item is sold out, the button turns gray. However, the item should have a small banner at the top left saying 'Sold Out'. My June 19th cruise cabanas on CocoCay were sold out in March. I got one of the last two. I am now trying to get an extra jet ski. I keep looking daily. Fingers are cross that someone can't make the cruise and need to cancel their reservations.
  18. What is the size of the keycards? I am wondering if I can use my work lanyard with a dual plastic holder. It holds my ID on one side and a credit card on the other side.
  19. Now that I know what Savory Bites are, I can tell you as a bread maker that the type of flour does matter. I have tried switching flours in recipes before and it was a disaster. I also know at the beginning of the pandemic, King Arthur Bakery was having such a hard time filling their flour orders that they created a new size: 3 lbs. This was instead of their traditional 5 lb bag. This was to help meet the demand for specialty flours. I bet you never thought you would learn so much about flour on a cruise blog. LOL!
  20. What do you call a person who tells Dad jokes who is not a dad? A faux pa
  21. It is possible to lose weight while cruising. I lost a pound on a 2 week cruise. The advice I was given is you can have A dessert or A drink at dinner. I also used fitness trainer (on another cruise line) on my sea days. This time, I purchased the unlimited fitness classes. I hope to get one class in a day. (I don't do well when my exercise is not structured). I like the idea of no bread on the table. I usually stay away from the carbs and nibble at buffets - take just enough to get a taste of something. Good luck. Let me know if you actually lost weight or stayed the same.
  22. The cold has been running rampant all over the place. I am in New England. I got over one head/chest cold last week. I am now working on cold #2 - thanks to my granddaughter. Both times I have tested negative and my granddaughter has tested negative. I would not panic. You can go on the cruise with a cold - just be kind to others and keep that facemask on. I would recommend trying to distance yourself from your spouse by sleeping in another room and eating at a different table and taking care of your kids yourself. Use disinfectant on surfaces your spouse could have touched. And have your spouse where a facemask in house. Yeah, you may still come down with a cold but at least you can't say that you did not try. Good luck!
  23. What are Savory Bites? Do you order them in the MDR? Are they on other ships?
  24. I know that RC will schedule Chops for either night 1 or 2. But can't you change the date once you are on board?
  25. It took almost a month when I entered my data back in March.
