Thanks all. The rest of us have dodged it (vaccines work sometimes at least). He is doing fine. Fever for 1 day and a pretty good cough. Just booked Oasis out of Miami in April as a replacement 😉 Much better stops and excursion options...kids have to wait a bit longer but will have a great time eventually!  Hopefully this wave dies down by then.  Sail safe friends. 

For reference, when I won my Royal Up to a Junior Suite it wasn't confirmed until 2 days prior to sailing. There is some variation here, but that is the typical experience.

Our Aqua 80s and Cats shows on Oasis have been canceled.  I'm fine with that. Not a Cats fan and there will be other opportunities for Aqua 80s (HELLO DEC 2022 WONDER RCG GROUP CRUISE!) 

I imagine this will be similar for us at the end of January with the status of both San Juan and Labadee. Maybe I'll just book some extra time in the spa instead. 🤪

Received the email last night regarding our cruise on Anthem leaving Friday. San Juan is cancelled. They extended our time in port in St. Thomas until 8pm. Nine day cruise went from three ports to two. I don’t mind….I’m cruising!

I don't foresee this being something that the cruise lines adjust to - this would require testing everyone in the middle of the cruise if San Juan is a stop, which also means they would have to consistently have enough kits and personnel to carry this out for every single passenger and crew member. 
I suspect that this would ultimately mean cancellations to San Juan for a few weeks.

I think this sentiment is only applicable for the foreseeable future. Trying to visit the ABC island in 2023, I really wouldn't be accepting of port cancellations. But currently......to cruise is to have patience. 
The ports that get cruised to the most are not as medically or structurally advanced as America, Canada and some countries in the EU. Our M.O in life should always be "do no harm." Most places in the ABCs would not be able to handle thousands of positive cases, so they close ports to keep the citizens safe. The truth of the matter is people are sick and dying still, a vacation is a luxury and privilege. We should, at this point in time, appreciate the fact we can cruise, fly, visit theme parks, eat in restaurants, and just live freely in general. 

Same, honestly. Time has flown. 

Actually going to add on a question here - any idea if NA beers could be included as Diamond drinks or available in the Diamond lounge?

While it is more contagious, it is also reportedly more mild. The main purpose of the vaccines is to keep you out of the hospital and keep those who are vaccinated from overwhelming the hospital system (or, the on board medical center). 
The concern remains that the virus will continue to mutate and we'll see a variant that is both more contagious and deadly, but for the reasons I stated above I don't think that we will shut down. We are much better equipped to understand this now than we were in March of 2020. The only thing we can do is control our own actions (and, continue to work to help keep others safe where we can).
