  1. We had this exact thing happen. Royal up'd to Star the morning of sailing. Genie refunded back to the payment method we gave her.  If I remember correctly, we did have to call to get our dining package refunded per the genie's instructions. Done in 5 min call and the refund came in about a week. But that was right at restart so things may have changed.  Just for funsies, we had a lot of non-refundable obc from the the travel agency we used. The unused portion was refunded to the card attached to our account by the genie at final invoice. It was a great surprise. We've received this non-refundable credit cash refund twice since. YMMV.

  2. Does anyone have any experience with this? We reached out to Customer Service and they said it is $523.99 per person. It seems we'd be renting FlowRider for one hour so number of people is irrelevant. RCI said nope, per person. Anyone have any actual field experience with this? It is 65 pp for a private lesson. Seems silly to spend 1500 for three people

  3. I'd say it depends on how active you want to be with your booking. We have used big online companies, local and MEI. We are very active in our bookings, checking pricing for the cruises, excursions, beverages, dining etc. on a regular basis. It is part of the fun for us. in the end, we found big online the best for our ndividial needs. They have few discounts from what Royal provides directly but the most OBC. A lot more obc. We used the big onlines during covid with rebooks, cancellations etc and had no issues. To us, the obc is worth is being a little more involved. But local and MEI have also been great.

  4. The best advice we can give is be up front with your genie with your wants/needs. As others have said, each are different. We've loved every genie we've had. We've had a couple that we weren't thrilled with until we realized we weren't communicating our preferences. Turns out, they are good at what they do but unfortunately can't read minds so we started being more up front. Once we did that, they knocked it out of the park. Shout out to Shane, Leticia, Augustina and Smitha. They've all been all-stars!

  5. Prices are crazy high but... we'd been watching our June Harmony sailing hoping a Star cabin would open. We searched everyday and doing this, we saw reductions in our CLS twice in 2 weeks resulting in a $3800 reduction. We cant explain it, our TA couldn't either. CLS's were almost complety booked. We didn't care why, we repriced both times and saved the money. I guess you never know.

btw...Star Loft came available at about $9k pp. no thanks. We'll enjoy our much cheaper CLS.

  6. We've never had a genie meet us after an excursion but we were "pier runners" once and our genie sent a golf cart to come get us (communicated off shore via whatsapp). It was comical. All the pier runners for 2 ships piled on. As for breakfast, usually it comes from room service but we've asked a genie for ck. No problem, delivered hot and fresh. I believe the opening time of ck has a lot to do with it.

  7. My opinion is going to be unpopular but I'll let it fly. Budget for paying for bags. It is an Alaskan cruise. Weather is unpredictable. We traveled in August. Some ports were warm (seattle 90s). Some were rainy, some were cold. Also, give thought to excursions. We had hiking boots we wouldn't normally take on a cruise. We did glaciers and bear watching. Those boots and rain gear were worth it. Even just a quick run to Tracy's Crab Shack, it poured. Plan accordingly.
