  1. It is funny that this came up, as I was at the pharmacy yesterday getting my last vax shot and overheard a group of people from Mexico City who were visiting Texas and getting vaccinations.
  2. The most frustrating thing to me is trying to book Handicapped cabins. There never seem to be enough of them. If I cruise with the entire family we have to have a handicapped room, and to get any chance of a cabin I have to book at least a year or 18 months in advance. I am grateful that they actually allow you to book the handicapped cabins on their website, as with NCL you have to call in to do so.
  3. This is normal. Port fees and taxes always depend on the going rate. Sometimes they are more, sometimes they are less money. My Alaska L&S port fees and taxes ended up being $40 more per person. Not a big deal.
  4. Looks a lot like the bunkrooms that my son stayed on while aboard the USS Lexington Aircraft carrier for an overnight visit.
  5. Yes, what everyone else has said is a good idea. For my June Alaska sailing I had my TA put a hold on the room I wanted (JS) a few months ago. Once June cruises were canceled I called my TA and let her know that it was time to L&S. She was able to get it done in about two days. We then had to wait for the new invoice to be generated and updated with my OBC, included gratuities, etc.. That took about three days and now everything is settled and my TA has sent me my new invoice. Good luck getting the room you want!
  6. @Reigert2008Can you screenshot the Set Sail Pass? They have to scan the individual QR/bar codes from each pass. It may just make it easier on you to have the others get their own accounts. Plus, if the app is used for eMuster and contact tracing, like it has been in Singapore they are all going to need the app anyway.
  7. Hoping and praying it goes well today! Here's to your surgeon's steady hands, and a swift recovery!
  8. Cruised on Thanksgiving 3 years ago. Good fun! delicious meals.
  9. My advice is to wear sturdy water shoes and bring plenty of money. My son and I went last time we were in the Caribbean. It was a fabulous experience, we interacted with the dolphins, fed them, rubbed their backs and they swam around us, but we did not "swim with the dolphins". The photos were expensive. The DVD was even more costly, but preserving the memories of my then 8 year old son with his absolute favorite mammal was priceless!
  10. @SpeedNoodles I'm excited for you! Yay! Are your friends the type who hold grudges? At this point, on a ship with reduced capacity, vaccination, distancing and other measures a whole ship quarantine is very unlikely.
  11. It's official, My June cruise to Alaska is toast. We are L&S to Royal Caribbean Ovation June 10 2022.
  12. I'm not saying that at all. I am just saying that is one of the reasons why companies and some people believe we should still be wearing masks. I would happily go without a mask, as I have had covid and have antibodies, however some are uncomfortable with risk (I am not one of them).
  13. You simply need to book an accessible room, then fill out the "Special Needs at Sea" form detailing what help you may need. This form covers everything from handicapped roll in shower, CPAP machines, oxygen, wheelchairs, scooters, shower chairs, braille menus, sharps container, special dietary needs and more. As part of the form you will also sign an affidavit that you require an accessible room due to a need for accessibility features (i.e. handicapped accessible toilet). You only have to sign that part if you are booked in an accessible room. When I travel with my mother, I simply fill out the Special Needs form for a sharps container in room and Gluten-Free menu. She doesn't require the Accessible room, but she is diabetic and gluten intolerant.
  14. @Jill and the award for the most ludicrous comment ever goes to - 'The mayor said she was "impressed by the director's knowledge of the industry and her empathy to the economic hardships that the loss of this business has caused."' IF the Director had any knowledge or empathy her comments during the meeting with Senator Murkowski would have been entirely different. I would go as far to say that any regular user on the Royal Caribbean Blog has more knowledge about the Cruise Industry.
  15. I will need to learn more about this! I love archery ?
  16. @johnt83 I am afraid to believe it. I think I will stick with disbelief until I hear it restated on April 2.
  17. Everything @twangster said. My husband uses a wheelchair or scooter full time. The one time we sailed in a regular balcony stateroom we had difficulty getting it over the door threshold, difficulty finding a handy outlet to charge it, and difficulty walking around the scooter while it was "stored" or "charging". When I say we that was me and my then 8 year old son. Definitely get on waitlist for a disabled cabin. It is well worth it. Also in the regular balcony room it is near to impossible to get a scooter over the higher threshold and out onto the balcony. The lack of and scarcity of disabled cabins on ships is one reason why we book two years out. If you book far enough out- then you can have some chance of getting a disabled room.
  18. That is one reason, the other reason is because no vaccine has 100% efficacy. 95% efficacy does substantially cut down your risk of contracting the virus...but there is always that 5%.
