How will crews be reconstituted for the various classes of ships in these restart days? With RCG committing to vaccinated crews, you to select from countries that have easier access to vaccinate, or does the line re-assemble crews with experience on their "home" ships and take on the task of contracting with one of the pharma companies? We know RCL will have 2 Q class sailing and a Vision class. Others to be announced we hope.

Think you're right, especially if they have to add crew vaccinations with wait times. I don't know the cost difference between the different vaccines, but would guess they'll have to weigh that along with the availability in the region they're going to perform vaccinations. (1 dose versions vs 2 dose versions)

Best Bionic Bar Cocktail / Drink

Can't remember what it was other than being red. Only ordered 1 and deemed the wait not worth it. Thought the humans did a better and faster job. -
A thought guess - we still haven't seen test cruises yet (or the specs from the CDC delivered to the lines). If we see that before May, and crew movements occur - perhaps a chance. Depends upon what ship and which embarkation port. The fleet is not all going to start sailing at the same time so folks will need to select ships that are the highest priority for the lines to bring back to operations. How do we guess and pick the right ones for early start? We know 2 Q class are going to be sailing over the summer - what's next in the queue, from a ship and embarkation port/region?

Flushed the B2B June '21 Infinity cruises from Venice/Rome and picked up a Reflection cruise for June '22. -
Just announced RCL is selling the Azamara brand!

Does RCG have any financial interest in Sycamore Partners? Could they still have some financial ties to the line? -
Call It: First Cruise Sails.......????
cruisellama replied to CJS2766's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If we see crew movements and port turn-ons in May, July makes sense. It will only be a couple of ships, we're looking at a year for full fleets after start. So cabin supply will be tight for that period of time. -
Saw that issue on mine this morning, but now the site appears fixed. Could see balance due and make a payment.

Not sure what is even right anymore with billing
cruisellama replied to Matt V's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Use a TA most of the time, but have 2 direct bookings which I prefer to pay down balances. Tried to make payments, but my cruise planner is telling me I have no balance due. I've made payments in the past. Is this a common occurrence on direct bookings? -
I like it for international as it tends to assemble reasonable connections and they'll reroute you if something is delayed. I fly from DFW, a major hub. I find for domestic, they do not open up non-stops until much closer to the cruise departure which corresponds to a higher cost than if you book the non-stop directly with the airline as soon as the flights are available. Direct/non-stops for domestic is one of my requirements. But, it's nice that you can defer payment until final cruise payment. Another plus.

When is your next Celebrity/Azamara Cruise?
cruisellama replied to BrianAlt's topic in Celebrity & SilverSea
May is not showing up on the site - also read a number of people were cancelled out. -
Everyone is waiting for a test cruise announcement to occur and for many, an opportunity to participate. Do you think the line will randomly select volunteers, or select with consideration to immunity (previously infected)/vaccination status? Would it really be a valid test cruise if you had a 100% high immunity passengers manifest? Or do you select a compliment of unvaccinated passengers - really tests robustness of protocols? Or a random pool of both - blind sample? (If all the guests and crew are vaccinated, seems you're not really testing potency of protocols.)

So what’s the deal with May cruises?
cruisellama replied to Jill's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Cozumel does not have embarkation terminal infrastructure (including supply logistics) to start up there. One could argue - airport and transportation infrastructure would also require amped up. Still all the crew needs to be vaccinated (per RCL), unlikely that will happen in Mexico. Long term, with lots of investment, Cozumel could become an embarkation port, but that's a multi-year prep, not something that can happen in the remainder of a year. -
allure returns in 2026 All Things Galveston
cruisellama replied to Galveston Steve's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Hotel rates are high if you stay close - we drive and stay about an hour away from the port. Gives us a more leisurely drive embarkation day. Looking forward to the new terminal - booked on Allure ( our first Galveston Allure booking was cancelled when the terminal upgrade paused.)- 971 replies

So what’s the deal with May cruises?
cruisellama replied to Jill's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
We're told that the CDC sailing specs will be delivered to the cruise lines any day. So given that, if the balloon goes up, how long does the logistics supply train (include crew vaccinations and movement) to get to their ship? But there will need to be some test cruises too - how long for that? So what's the timeline from balloon up and real cruises? 2-4 months? Our seasoned admins probably know folks who know those calendar set backs. Its almost mid-March - so May's out, high probability June is too. Guessing. -
I agree - which is why it seems odd with that many shorties - Could be a marketing method to renew trust in sailing. Was hoping we would be past the "test" phase by November.
-
Seeing a plethora of 2-4 day sailings marketing in Nov '21 - Feb '22. Wondering if these could these be test cruises? Celebrity typically does not carry very many "shorties". Late in '21 for test cruises, if the case.
