hail73 got a reaction from jessicamlewis518 in Help Choosing Next Ship? (Feb 2021)
I absolutely loved both the Allure and the Oasis. Even though they hold A LOT of people, it's so large most of the time you don't even notice. In my personal opinion I think the Allure is perfect how it is (however it's been a couple years since I cruised on it)! But, I can't wait to see what they do when they do decided to amp her up! I am cruising on the Harmony this upcoming September (fingers crossed it's still a go) and can't wait. I watched a virtual walk-through of the ship on youtube and it looks amazing! This guy shows you everything, even his cabin. I am sure that they have other video walk-throughs of the other Oasis class ships as well. Good luck and have fun with whatever ship you choose!

Hi everyone, I know we get heated debating which dessert is the best one to order, or if a balcony room is worth it, but let's keep these basic rules in mind when chatting here.

LOL. I was doing March on the EOS, and it was scrubbed. Now, I am doing Key West, Nassau, and Coco Cay in late September.........Guess it will be an adventure!

We sailed the Western Caribbean itinerary September 2019 right after the hurricane. Weather was fine. Just make sure you have some type of travel insurance. It's impossible to predict in advance what weather will be like and where/when a hurricane will strike.

Take the gamble. We cruise multiple times a year during hurricane season and have never had a single cancellation. It’s a great time to cruise.

Feel differently than most: we, in the past, cruised the Caribbean during hurricane season. Over several cruises, we experienced ports skipped, hours shortened in ports, arrival delays upon returning, plus a ship that followed bad advice and turned into a hurricane. Decks closed, all glassware in gift shops broken, people thrown from beds during the night. Obviously the last was an exception, but we no longer cruise the Caribbean during hurricane season - there are too many other choices, including rivers, the Great Lakes, Europe.

The peak of hurricane season is Sept 10 with a secondary peak Oct 10. The ships for the most part can adjust to avoid storms. Sometimes your Eastern Caribbean itinerary will become a Western Caribbean itinerary. As long as you are ok with that you should be fine.
The only usual real problem is a hurricane that hits the home port on change over day. Can't avoid that.

I agree, like I'm perfect for hurricane season because to me the ship is the destination. I'm flexible and don't care where I end up.
The only reason that doesn't work for me is going to Bermuda because it's one stop and you need time to explore otherwise it's really a loss because that's the only place you are going to. If you don't get time there then there really is nothing.

September is a great time of year because of the lower crowds and lower prices.

Pros, cost is less, fewer kids, bars don't have long waits ?
Cons - be prepared to not go on the itinerary you chose because it may get changed, may have less days than originally scheduled, may get more days than originally scheduled ?
If you are flexible and dont get stressed over worrying if your cruise will happen, Sept is good time to cruise.

We sail almost always in Sept and hurricane season because of that price and they run kids sail free in those times of the year. You really need to be flexible and just go with the flow. Last 2 times to Bermuda on Anthem and NCL Breakaway we were cut short. Breakaway was 3 days in Bermuda and we only left like 4 hours early. Anthem on the other hand we were supposed to have like 18 hours and it ended up being like 6 hours so that was a total loss. We then made the decision to try Spring this year outside of hurricane season so we booked Oasis in early May. Well that was cancelled on us so we are back to Sept on Oasis.

I am hoping to cruise sometime in September, since my April cruise was cancelled. I know this is hurricane season for the Caribbean and just wanted some input from others who have cruised during this time.
Would you recommended cruising during this time? What are some pros and cons for cruises in September?
Thanks in advance!

Any recommendations on TA's? Don't know if I want to handle all the FCC stuff on my own...
Thanks in advance!
And thanks to everyone in the forums for all the instant, up-to-date, and VERY helpful information. Cruising for the first time has been made so much easier...well kinda...
I feel like after this whole virus thing is over I'll be an expert on all things RC

hail73 got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in April 12 Liberty Cruise Cancelled
Well folks,
It seems as if they are taking preemptive measures regardless of how much money they will lose. That's a good thing I guess. Super bummed.
If anyone wants to input any knowledge on the FCC that would be great!
Will definitely be re-booking for later in the year though. But will probably have to pay deposits and fees out of pocket☹️ Sad day.

Can't really speculate on what will happen as this situation evolves.
I will stress that currently if you cancel today, you will get the same 100% FCC as you would if you wait and cancel on April 9. However, if Royal cancels the cruise for you there is the possibility of a larger sum of FCC or a 100% cash refund. Basically you don't need to make a decision until April 9 as to whether or not you feel comfortable still going. You may find that Royal or the situation makes the decision for you.

The dates of the current policy are more likely to change than not. Wait and see is hard but right now patience is the best strategy to navigating this entire situation both an land and at sea ?

I you want to change it, you should be able to. If you want to sail as planned, I would watch for notifications and closely monitor this board. The good people here know things before they happen sometimes.
