In 1954, Darrell Huff wrote "How to lie with Statistics", it remains readily available and I found it highly entertaining. It must be required reading for those in the media today. While we are being constantly fed dire predictions and frightening graphs, there are other recent studies that show the infection rate to be as much as 85 times higher than reported. This would mean that the survival rate would be approaching 99.9%. Of course, virtually no reporting exists for these studies ?

My problem is that we do not have good numbers for a survival rate as there was not widespread testing early enough.  Also, what is classified as a COVID-19 death is questionable at times.  What frustrates me is that I cannot make good decisions when all I have is junky, inconsistent information....

A number of people with influence are waking to the thought that the numbers really does not justify continuing these lockdown policies; yet alone, the shutdown of the Global Economy. More & more are speaking against lockdown measures & no doubt, a growing number of regular everyday citizens have as well.

My guess is that there will be a card to scan and an attendant to get a beverage.  This will also make sharing the cups with the non-beverage package person even harder....

7/27 is basically right after the end of the CDC's current 100-day moratorium on cruising. Says to me that the CDC has no intention of lifting that before scheduled expiration, and not really anything more. Well, I guess one other thing...
We can expect every other big cruise line to give an equivalent announcement some time in the next day to a week.

This may indicate a possible late July / early August start for most cruising in the US....Disney Cruise Lines suspends all sailings through 7/27....

Thank you for the information.  I booked a reservation at the beach club (no cabana) and will keep that until we make a final decision.  It was on sale at a decent discount for our sailing.  I will probably end up not keeping it, as my kids will probably be like your daughter.  But.....I like the security of an item I can cancel.

I was in an overwater cabana. The entire beach club area was great, had a nice upscale feeling to the whole area. It was private and quiet. My only complaint is that I was there Feb 1st (it was only open for a day or so) and you could tell some of the finishing touches werent done. Like i said in my other post  it wasn't super fun for my daughter, though i think she would have had a better time if it were warmer. It was super windy and cold making the water too rough and chilly. Some friends we were sailing with said the water was warm and didnt even notice the wind on the other side of the island.

I walked through some of the other areas on my way out, each area had its own feel from upscale, to theme park, to island fun. I'll be there again in September (hopefully!!) and I'm looking forward to my daughter enjoying herself more in the kids area and pools.

If you havent seen it through searching i did a post with a ton of pics.

I would say neither would be ideal in your situation but I'd side with the beach club.

The thrill park cabana's main draw is the water park tickets, but the actual water park seems a bit too extreme for how you described your kids. You also aren't going to very close to the beach here and the main kids areas are outside of the waterpark

Beach club does not have a lot of offerings for the little ones in terms of activities, and the food is  more upscale (they still have offerings for kids but the food is one of those things you are paying for). It will be a quiet spot and has access to the beach, so if you really value a more peaceful spot this would be it.  My 9 year old wasn't thrilled with this area as it felt like a more geared towards adults.

As for crowds, i didnt leave the beach club much on my only visit to Cococay but i have heard multiple other posters say that there are plenty of spots around the island so you wont be fighting for loungers if you decide to just do a no cost beach / kids area /pool day. I'd look into the breezy bay area, not close to the main kids play area but they have a small activities section that would have some fun stuff for kids.

I think Carnival's statement that they aren't starting until after the "no sail" order expires around the end of July tells us all we need to know.  Royal is just canceling in waves to keep their cash flow a bit better.  They are making trips to Asia to drop off crew.  They wouldn't do that if they just have to pick them back up two weeks later.

My wife and I just booked our cruise for December 2020 and we could not be more excited!! While I was looking over the cruise planner I saw the price of the "Refreshment Package" for drinks. I am not sure if I can justify paying the price they have set for that specific drink package... I am wondering if anyone on here knows the price Royal charges for their mocktails, fresh squeezed juices, and bottled water.

Thanks!  The British Colonial Hilton sounds nice because we do not have to wait for ferry/boat rides.  Plus, my kids are super please to just have water and sand.  Matt's review on this site made it look pretty good.

The aquarium at Atlantis is really nice though it is a little expensive. ¨Bottle of water was 10.00 last Dec¨ The walking tour is great. Queens staircase and the fort are amazing. Craft market is right there, all ready to deal. Junkanoo Beach is nice and free. Have fun we will be right behind you in December.

Nassau has been described in a derogatory manner by a lot of people...personally, I like Nassau for a place with lots of options if you know where to go. I have been to Atlantis and think it is over rated and too expensive...Blue Lagoon looks ok (I have not been there), but the prices I have seen seem high to me when there are other experiences...here are some ideas...I think you can have a great time there without buying the cruise line's excursions.
Free Beach Day -- Junkanoo Beach -- about a ten minute walk from the pier on the other side of the British Colonial Hilton, just turn right and keep going until you see a public beach. There's a bar and food and it's kind of fun. -- https://goo.gl/maps/KBazN46Cj48q4cuYA
Walk Around Nassau -- here is a google link of a way to go from the pier -- https://goo.gl/maps/XsYwF3wCpxrfCUs2A
it takes you to the Queen's Staircase which is really beautiful and important to the history of the Bahamas Fort Fincastle back through town it goes near Graycliff Hotel where there is a chocolatier, a restaurant and the possibility of paying for access to the pool -- I think it's $20 -- I'm not sure if there is a drink or food minimum -- https://goo.gl/maps/LnEVBWFeEQ66BnQS9 the route will end up around the British Colonial and you can circle back to Bay Street or Woodes Rogers Walk where there are lots of shops, restaurants, bars and the Straw Market if you want that experience. Thee is a brewyery called Pirate Republic that I enjoy as well as a lot of people on this forum British Colonial Hilton -- you can book a day there on shoreexcursioneer.com where you have access to facilities and it covers part of your drinks and food. It has a really nice pool and beach with a great view of the ships docked in front of you and to the right.
Baha Mar -- you can take a ten minute cab or bus there and get a great beach day just a little west of Nassau, I have not been there, but a lot on this forum have and it gets great reviews.
The links and descriptions other than Baha Mar are things I have done, and I think for what Nassau is, are good options for someone who hasn't been there.
Watch for pick pockets walking around, and people coming up to you to sell you something. While there is a sketchiness to it, there is a nice appeal and atmosphere there that I really like. Within a small footprint, you can find things to look at, good food and the traditional touristy stuff.

Try looking up Marvelous Tours. They have several different Nassau tours available. We did the Bahama Bonanza tour last year and it was great.
