Celebrity has said they are training staff to spot fakes and will pull guest aside for a deeper review should a fake be suspected.
We won't know what that means until we see it in action.

Vaccine ✅ mask ✅ booster vaccine ✅ another booster (if necessary) sign me up! ?

We are fully vaxxed up and are used to wearing a mask while moving about in public spaces already. Since we don't spend too much time catching the rays on crowded poolside chairs, we can deal with wearing a mask here and there if that what it takes to get back to cruising on our late Sep/Oct B2B on Symphony.

One unvaccinated person infected on a ship will blow up in the media and end up costing cruise lines hundreds of millions should the CDC step back in and declare them closed again.  Just the bad press from a claim of an infection from a cruise will cost all cruise lines a hit to stock prices and a drop in bookings.  That's a direct hit to their bottom line.
The absolute last thing any cruise line can afford is a case or claim of a case aboard a ship.
I respect everyone's individual choice for or against getting a vaccine.  I also respect a business having the ability to establish policy to protect itself from a crazed media eager to see it fail.
To that end I hope cruise lines establish a vaccine requirement.  They need to do so to protect themselves.
I'd really like to see a common sense policy of 100% vaccinated crew and guests with masks only required until you step your first foot onboard the ship.  At that point the mask comes off and the party begins.
I understand this will impact families with members that can't or choose not to vaccinate.  Unfortunately until this virus has moved past society that is an unfortunate outcome.  Once protocols are no longer used anywhere on land they can be removed from ships as well.  At that point all are welcome back on board just as they will be everywhere on land.
Cruising is NOT a constitutional right and businesses must be free to take whatever steps are necessary to operate and protect their brand.
For those that choose not to vaccinate, including friends I have, that choice comes with consequences like not being to enjoy a cruise.  That is your right to choose, don't take this personal, it's not meant to be an attack but I'm ready to cruise and the safest way to make that happen as quickly as possible is to require a vaccine.

If one has the cash to do only 1 glacier viewing plane excursion, would you do a flight in Denali, Kenai Forjds NP, or Mendenhall Glacier?  The entire trip will cost an arm and a leg. We will have to pick and choose. Which flight would you pick and why?

Ships use stabilizers very frequently, nearly everyday in open waters.  However stabilizers only work for side to side roll, they do nothing for forward/aft pitching.
It's impossible to predict what weather will be like on any day of a cruise.  I've sailed those waters on five different cruises and only once experienced motion.
Ships are inherently more stable compared to boats and their much smaller counterparts - ferries.  I have a child who does terrible in the backseat of a car on the highway often feeling motion sickness even now as an adult.  They've never had a problem on a cruise ship and have done several now.
The best course of action would be discuss it with a doctor and try different motion sickness remedies before going on a ship.  Some have side effects like drowsiness.    By trying them on land and in consultation with a doctor you can find the best approach that is compatible with any other medication they may be taking.
Often, once armed with motion sickness remedies people find no or little motion impact on a cruise.  Being prepared with remedies available often settles nerves and removes or reduces the focus on motion.
Picking a cabin location midship on a lower deck can reduce motion impact and also have a mental benefit of knowing you are taking steps to reduce the possibility.
No one can predict what motion might be like anywhere on any ocean.  It's like asking if it will be sunny or cloudy months into the future.  By taking steps to be prepared for the worst case it's not unusual for people to find themselves relieved to discover it isn't as bad as they thought it would be.

SteelersNationVA reacted to SpeedNoodles in Do you think RC will force passengers to take the vaccine in order to cruise?
I object to the use of the term "force".  "Require" is a much better term.  Since cruising is a voluntary activity, nobody's ever "forced" to do anything.

Just wondering how anyone can say it was a success like nothing in history when we as a country are 90% short of the goal of 20 million.  If y performance evaluation was at 10%, my boss and I would have a serious conversation.  10% on a test in school is an F.

The 1st step was approval of the vaccine.  Now we need as a country and world to distribute it and get it into our arms.  The federal government's goal was 20M doses administered by year end.  As of today 2.1M have been administered or 0.6% of the population.  At this rate it will take years.  As a country we are at 10% of the YE goal.  A score of 10% on any exam in school is an F.  A CEO of a public company would be fired for achieving 10% of the key financial goals.
The new administration is taking a different approach. Instead of leaving the logistics to the states, they will use the powers of the federal government to make it happen.  It has to work.  It will be a huge effort that.  It will take everybody's effort.  Why can't cruise lines have their medical staff help administer the vaccines?  It has to work.
But the vaccine also has to be rolled out in Canada, the UK, Germany, China, India, Egypt and Morocco for it to be safe to travel globally.  On a cruise ship, a plane, train or theatre or neighborhood restaurant there are people from all over the world.  If they were not vaccinated, you are not safe.
It will take leadership.  The US  has traditionally provided that leadership.
The buck stops on the President's desk.
My guess is that it is way to early to say when it will be safe to travel.  In the meantime, wear a mask, social distance, stay home, be smart and watch videos of past vacations.

The federal government has a policy that once the vaccine is approved, distribution and delivery is up to all 50 states + DC.  They had a goal of 20 million , but delivered 2.1 million.  The new administration will take a more active role, setting guidelines, use the powers of the federal government to ensure supplies are manufactured and the vaccines are delivered to those at risk.

I'm going to preface this by saying this is a very naive comment and I definitely know the answer is $$$$. But I can't help by think that considering this is a world wide pandemic and people are dying everywhere...shouldn't Pfizer etc give labs around the world the formula and pump it out like crazy. If it was a cure for something small I can understand wanting to make it a monopoly. But considering it could get the world back on track to normalcy im sad it doesn't work like that...

It is actually 2.1 million doses delivered.  These people will require a 2nd dose.  There are 331 million Americans.  0.6% of the population is not good enough to relax.  According to experts it will take 10 years to vaccinate the public at the current pace.  Just saying

I agree regarding the second shot and only time will tell (I understand that currently under 1m people have received the first dose and I have no idea how many of them have subsequently become infected).
Given the sharp increase in cases and associated hospital admissions here there is a real concern that the health service could soon become overwhelmed and I believe the idea is to give as many vulnerable people as possible the chance to build up some protection, thereby allowing health professionals to focus their attention on those who unfortunately have not had that chance.

Why is the cruise industry being vilified, while airlines do no testing and people who maybe infected go to the crowded airport without having to show any test results?  Why do restaurants (even with social distancing) not even take your temperature?  Why can you go to the grocery store or a big box store and there is no temperature check?  Why do some demand that schools reopen without providing PPEs for teachers.  But it is the cruise industry that is the villian.

I think that cruising in 2021 is optimistic. The administration had no plan to roll out the vaccine in the US. They will not achieve targets by end of the 1st quarter. The holiday surge will set the country even farther behind.

before they can roll out the vaccines, they need the equipment needed to dose the vaccine , PPEs and a way to transport it to remote areas where there are no CVS and Walgreens. Federal government had no plan. Not being political, just stating the fact that we will not be safe until 2022 at the earliest.

I understand that.  But the media is only focused on the emotions and not scientific facts.  When a passenger knowingly went to the airport and got on a flight even though they showed COVID-19 symptoms, the story was berried. But a passenger on Quantum of the Seas had a false positive test and the ship implemented their protocol, front page.
Cruise lines should put their medical advisors n front of the science/medical reporters and not just the travel reporters.
