People have been known to go through the check in security line a person or two in between and get away with it. But....doing so will apparently cause the cruise lines to go bankrupt if they can't get their 500% markup on sodas.  RULES are RULES dammit,  no cheating allowed.  RCL only had revenue of $3 billion in the 3rd quarter.

I bought RCL stock this summer.  I copied the  Sept statement, blacked out everything but my name and the line showing I owned RCL stock and the date of the statement and submitted it for my late November and Feb cruises. Got notification in 4 days that it was accepted.
Now only 36 more cruises to do before I break even.😁

I'll be that guy...In the past an un-activated/unused cup could be activated and used on future cruises. It worked about 5 years ago. Not sure if that is still the case.
Regarding whether it is "right" is open for debate. There are things that are wrong morally and things that are simply regulated. Violating a rule that is imposed simply to make more profit is not morally wrong IMO. Besides if you paid for soft drinks and never drank any, here's your chance to get your money's worth.

Cru Con is who we use. They generally have real good prices, sometimes kick in OBC and other perks, plus they have a $50 loyalty discount.  They handled everything for multiple bookings. We have a cruise in Feb with my two brothers and their wives. They coordinated all the bookings.

Ever hear the old saying caveat emptor  "buyer be aware"?
I always enjoy looking at the Invicta watches when on board. Some are really cool looking but I would never buy one as I know the prices are highly inflated.  Besides, my wife bought me a Pulsar Solar watch as an anniversary gift 35+ years ago. It's never needed to be wound and still runs fine. I wear it all the time even while diving. It's scratched, worn and pretty beat up now.  It's my forever watch.
As for buying booze on board. I've found that you can buy 1 liter bottles of bourbon/scotch on board for what .75 Liter go for at home. I would guess that is because of the taxes at home.   Sometimes the liter bottles go for 2/$50 or 2/$60 and is a good deal when the small bottles typically run $27-37 ea at home. You do have to know what your looking at however.

It kinda depends on what your intention is. I bought 100 shares this summer because A...I thought it was likely to go up in value if/when the cruise industry bounces back and B...for the onboard credit.
I also bought Carnival stock because it was dirt cheap and A..above and B...same OBC deal as RCL. And even though I am unlikely to sail Carnival, I may sail on Princess or Holland America or even Cunard in the future.

I've pretty much gone minimalist for cruises. A carry on and a small backpack. The key is to get things that do double duty, are lightweight, fast drying and sink/shower washable.  I usually pack 3 pair of nylon underwear which are washable. One pair of light weight, nylon zip off pants which are convertible from long pants to shorts and are washable. One pair of socks (just in case). I wear a pair of low hiking shoes and pack a pair of toed sandals (Keens) which I pretty much wear all the time on the ship including to dinner.  A pair of nylon, fast drying lightweight shorts (called river shorts) that double as a bathing suit or work out clothes.  Long and short sleeve sun shirts, are fast drying and washable. The short sleeve one doubles as a work out shirt and/or undershirt.  A long and short sleeve button down, light weight nylon, fast drying, washable shirts (think fishing shirts) for everyday wear.
Most everything I wear during the day gets sink/shower washed and hung up to dry. That works better if you have a balcony cabin but you can usually find upper deck chairs to lay stuff out discretely.
I also bring a pair of dockers, button down shirt and sports coat for dress up night.  If flying I will sometimes wear the dockers and sport coat on the plane so I don't have to pack it.  Pretty much wear the dockers and sport coat once but have been on longer cruises where I wore it twice. Probably don't need the sport coat but the dining room is sometimes chilly in the evening and we like to dress up once in a while.
Not to mention, shaving kit and personal stuff which go in my backpack and carried on board.

On our next cruise the drink package cost more than the cruise.  Going to have to pass.  Who'd a thunk that we'd be paying over $1,100 on booze to drink for a week and think that normal?

I was going to say, how do they make sweet tea? Add sugar. There you go, you're welcome.😉

BTW, I like their regular iced tea. Pretty much that and coffee and water is all I drink on a cruise. Occasionally I will add a touch of lemonade to the iced tea to spice it up.

I thought the less than stellar dinner service on the R&R cruise was due to the fact that in order to feed everyone they split the attendees into two groups Silver and Gold. Silver ate while the gold was at the feature concert and vice versa.  Of course that's normal on a cruise, early and late dinners/shows.  The cruise was sold out, the ship packed. The dining room was very crowded and we never sat in the same place twice. Service was rushed, food sometimes cold. The staff was scrambling.  But we met another couple and started hanging out and going to dinner together so it was tolerable. Go with the flow.

Don't know about the Luminae dining room but we saw no difference in dress in the MDR between Royal and X. People wear what they want to on both. There is no real dress code on either anymore.  We had dinner one of the specialty dining rooms to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The middle aged guy at the next table was in shorts, t-shirt and flip flops.🙄

We've been on the Reflection and the Equinox a couple times. And of course the Connie and the Summit.
We're heading back to Royal for our next two cruises. Wasn't very impressed with X on the 3 cruises we did this year. Service and food weren't really up to standard on the 2 Summit cruises. That was understandable on the Rock and Romance cruise, last February with it being a charter, not acceptable on the 12 night out of Iceland we did in August.   The 12 night Equinox cruise in March was better but lacking. Again service and food weren't really up to par. Or maybe it's just 12 nights is too long on a ship.  Don't know if this is a post Covid thing with them trying to get staff and supplies or it's the new standard.
Anyway, have fun on your Jazz cruise.

Interesting....we've never had any interest in the Edge class ships. We tend to book a cruise based on itinerary not on ship type.  One of our favorite X ships is the Constellation. We had one great cruise on her once and would do her again in a heart beat but they've moved her to Europe mostly.
Having said that, I am sure there are some big differences between Edge and Summit but you'll be so busy with your Jazz thing you won't notice or care.
