  1. To me, it matters how important it is to advance to Diamond (which is the 1st rank where the perks have any real value). If you are planning to make many future cruises, then I think a good argument could be made to spend the extra money. A few things I would consider 1. Is a JS something you would like to try anyway? If it is, and the price is right - this may be a good time since they are giving away double points. It is a bigger room, with a tub. 2. You would need to take 2 future cruises to gain the same points during "normal" times. Again this may matter if you know now that you want to continue to cruise Royal into the future.
  2. This was my experience with Costco and also Expedia - Everything was fine until there was a problem - then it became a big problem. I switched to MEI for those reasons.
  3. Costco is definitely not a traditional TA - It will be harder to do anything regarding your cruise through them vs booking directly through the cruise line. You will have to call them for any dealings with your cruise - Royal will not talk to you. I switched to a TA for this reason after having to spend hours dealing with cancelled cruises during covid but I would have been better calling the cruise line directly.
  4. I would think that Covid concerns would promt some to take the full refund option. That may loosen things up a little.
  5. 9/22 was the date is was to START happening. The move are supposed to be completed by Oct 13th and we have until Oct 20th to cancel if we don't like the changes.
  6. Still says Oct 7th for my Thanksgiving cruise. We had already checked in so hopefully it will all be as it was when it reopens.
  7. I would be interested in what you had to go through to bring the 14 year old daughter's friend along.
  8. In October you will be pretty safe with mostly shorts. NJ can be cold in mid Oct but its not exactly winter yet. You will be pretty far south by the time you wake up for day 2, same on the way back. I would bring 1 or 2 fall weather items like a light jacket or sweater you could put on if needed. You will need something to board/disembark anyway and it may be cold that time of year in NJ.
  9. Given that some all of the upheaval over the past year and a half, there are plenty of reasons why people would cancel. I don't think they are cancelling the reservations of people who are willing and able to cruise. I agree that it would be interesting to see if they would if capacity were over a certain percentage.
  10. I was there pretty early in June. They definitely had coffee but I did not see anything else. Keep in mind that anything like that requires a server these days so its possible that they had them pre-covid and don't now.
  11. I suspect that the answer would be no - but it never hurts to ask. Maybe a few very nice tips would get it done.
  12. You will have to schedule times in Adventure Ocean - they will be limiting capacity so you won't be able to have the kids there as much as the pre covid days. You will be able to go into vaccinated areas as long as your children are not with you. You will receive a list of vaccinated/non vaccinated areas before you cruise - it may change between now and December. It will be fun even with the restrictions!
  13. You make a reservation for your meal when you check in and they have a sit down table area for your meal - It works like a specialty restaurant. They do have waiters serving drinks at the beach/pool - they may be able to bring you something to snack on. Worst case, you could always walk out to one of the free food areas.
  14. I went with 12648 on Oasis because the jacuzzi was more to the side. This was based on a few pictures. I will see it live Thanksgiving week and would be happy to report back.
  15. That week is spring break week for most Southern public schools and colleges. Flights will be more than usual.
  16. I just received an email canceling my June 2022 cruise out of Rome. We will automatically rebooked on the Wonder of the Seas on 9/22 or we can receive a full refund. Obviously, I am excited to be on the newest ship in the fleet!
  17. I got mine today also, there is a QR code on the front for the app.
  18. Question on shows for sky class suites. Do they have reserved seating?
  19. 14 + 28 new points = 42 points so you should be platinum.
  20. My family is on this same cruise, but starting in Rome on the the 2nd. I have booked a day tour through a company called Rome in Limo for Rome, Naples and Livorno. They will have a driver meet us at each port - the tours are customizable if you want to make changes. 3 Ports Package: Civitavecchia, Livorno and Naples - Packages - Rome In Limo If you prefer to tour on your own, a good guide book for Mediterranean ports is this one. 21. I ordered last week and received the "shipped" notice last night. It arrived this morning. It was originally supposed to be here on the 9th so it is a few days late. Expiration dates were 10/2/21 with a 90 day extension
  22. I submitted one in for my March 2022 cruise and its already there.
  23. He is definitely living the dream. I need to figure out how to "retire" to a job where I can work 4 to 5 hours a day while on a cruise ship pool deck. Great work on the interview @Matt
