Lilly got a reaction from Neesa in FCC for Teenagers
@WAAAYTOOO  I brought up the fact that they are minors because I believe I should have the ability to determine how the FCC is applied. The fact that they are not adults should come into play, as I believe the parent or person responsible for the bills as @deep1 (wishing you good luck and smooth sailings) said should have the final say on how/who should receive the FCC.
@bryresangel Thank you for the information on your experience.
Based on what you have all written, I will wait until I receive the FCC, call and see if I can have their FCC transferred to me.
I have read everyone’s posts for years but haven’t written. Thank you for your sound advice. Hope we are all back on the seas soon.

Yes, another FCC comment. Sorry everyone. I cancelled my Thanksgiving 2020 cruise today. I had two rooms booked. One for me and DH and one for two 17 year old kids.  I asked for the FCC for the teens to be put under my name since they will not be able to cruise in the next few years (starting college and have no idea of school schedules). I booked/paid for both rooms.  RC said the teens are considered adults since they will be 18 in November and must have FCC in their name and this FCC will be issued in one month. I then asked that when they receive their FCC next month if they can book a cruise for themselves without me being involved. Well, of course not.
My thinking is -they  are currently minors and can not legally be bound by a contract. And yet, they can be issued a FCC in their names to be used by them because they will turn 18 in November? And yet, they can not use this FCC without me being involved. So, why can their FCC not be issued to me?
So I will receive 4 FCC and two will never be used.  I was planning to take  the two teens  FCC and apply it to a cruise for 2021 with my DH.
I did not realize the policy for FCC and minors and am disappointed in RC’s policy.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
Apologies for my rant and ineloquent explanation. Just fuming a bit at the moment.

Exactly right WAAAYTOOO; had grand-children’s FCC issues in their names; ages ranging from 4-15; they won’t change it.

That's surprising. I had a similar question about our FCC when we went to rebook our cruise and had some extra. Less than a week ago my travel agent said that our 17-year old daughter's remaining FCC could be transferred to me since she was under 21. I would recommend calling again until you get a different answer.

I'm dealing with moderately similar...  The one paying the bills should have full fcc control.  If we use her FCC for the Nov1 trip that likely wont go we're all set. Since its not likely to go.  Next years trip she would have to take off from college to join us and at that not use  but about half for that trip...  I am hoping that something goes right soon...

Actually, I’m surprised that they even brought up the issue of the kids being (or not being) minors, as minorship (is that even a real word ?) has nothing to do with the rules governing FCC’s.

It is my understanding that some people have had success having FCC’s re-issued but it’s not the rule and I probably wouldn’t count on it.

As for the differences between the ships, they are really more alike than different.  The port actually would make the bigger difference in my opinion -- is Port Canaveral or Miami going to be easier for you?  If you are flying for the cruise leaving from Miami gives you two options for airports (FLL and MIA) which may give you more flight options.
I did Oasis for Thanksgiving last year:

The feeling of Thanksgiving week is hard to put into words. The ship is joyous, your fellow passengers are so happy and much family all folding into each other. It is the most beautiful sailing in my humble opinion of the year. Everyone seems to drum up the things they are grateful for to include crew members, if I could only sail once a year it would be this week each and every time. Better then Xmas, better then summer....we book a sailing every single year for this week now that we experienced it. We have one this year but the ship may not be ready so I am taking a page from the book of @Lovetocruise2002 and booking a second for the same week, just in case my initial is not sailing. The ONLY slightly positive thing about this sad time is the cancellation policy's are so much more flexible.....I do wish I would see some refunds though,  Do IT! Just so amazing it is hard to put into words, the experience will have all 30 of you booking the same week in 2022!

Not sure my reasons apply to everyone but a big one for me is I use two less vacation days because I already have Thanksgiving and Black Friday off.  Our oldest is home from college so we have a babysitter to leave our littles with also.  We live in Western PA and it is a great break for us before we get set into a cold and snowy winter.  Everyone is more friendly because they are gearing up for the holidays.  For big families it is great to have your whole family together on a ship so you can enjoy the time together.  It's a chance to make lasting memories with members of your family.  It gives you more to be thankful for; being together as a family , that you have family, that you all have the ability to afford a cruise, that you can discover new places (ports) together. No one has to cook or clean and instead can concentrate on those they are with.

2nd year in a row this year!
I loved it last year and want to make it a yearly tradition.  The wife, not so much...  Had to compromise and bring the kids with us this year.

We are scheduled to sail on the Odyssey 20 November 2020 out of Port Everglades. (8 nights) Was so looking forward to this trip but it is very possible she may not even be ready by then. If she sails we do plan to be on her. We have a Jr. suite with an over sized balcony, we were planning on spending additional time in the cabin. We LOVE sailing for Thanksgiving, what a wonderful vibe the ship has during this time! Everyone appears and articulates thanks and graciousness, a lovely experience.

I’m with you on this one. We had never done it before last year and now have cruises booked for the next two thanksgivings. It’s great as it still leaves vacation days for later on and only two days off of school for my daughter.

Thanks for the reassurance -- that's how it looked to me, but it's good to hear! And perfectly timed, too...my TA emailed me just now to double-check with me, noting the travel distance and potential time constraints. ?

Who's sailing for Turkey Day 2020?
Will be sailing (fingers, toes and anything else crossed for good luck) on the Indy B2B starting 11/19 (it's not my dream come true 3 Weeks on the Oasis that got cxl'd from COVID 19) .
Scored the corner aft 1400 for both cruises.

Oh, Anthem's still sailing; I just found out earlier this week that a work/school-related thing got moved from Dallas in August to Orlando in November, and it ends on 11/22 at noon and Harmony sails from Port Canaveral on 11/22 at 4:30, so... ?
