  1. You used to be able to do it online but I don't think you can anymore.  The one and only time we did it all online before boarding, we had to re-do it anyway as they had no record of our waivers.  I think you can still go sign waivers before you actually intend on doing the flow rider or whatever it is....so that you will have it over with but I don't think you can do it before you board anymore.

Assuming you still have to handle your luggage at the airport, the first thing you want to do when you get there is to run it through the agricultural scanners immediately to the right and left of the doors where you enter the airport.  Lots of people skip this, and then are turned back when they try to check in.  They'll put little stickers on your luggage to indicate they've been scanned.

    Guilty !

    but start going more International

It's very interesting that you say this....

Many years ago, when we were still very new to cruising, we met a couple of cruising veterans in San Juan and spent an entire afternoon chatting.  They told us that one day we would no longer be "in love" with cruising in the Caribbean and we would need to branch out and start doing other kinds of itineraries.  At first glance, this seems like a very Captain Obvious kind of statement but it's taken us a while to actually get there.  We truly have evolved in our cruising style(s).  We no longer get off the ship in many of the Caribbean ports.  We are no longer satisfied with the MDR meals.  While we still LOVE cruising, we really are getting tired of cruising in the Caribbean !  Since we are still working, it is difficult for us to do the longer and more exotic itineraries, but once we retire I can see a big change to the way we cruise.  I think this happens to most long term cruisers.  You see it with the Pinnacles.  Of course they still cruise in the Caribbean from time-to-time but they definitely favor the longer and more "unusual" itineraries.  I can't WAIT until we can do some Baltic states and Persian Gulf and Pacific Island and Australia and New Zealand and Far East cruises - all back-to-back !  ?

Miami is actually cheaper than FLL for me to fly into for some reason. I've been checking both, and I'm sure it's subject to change.

I have found this to be true, too, sometimes.  But for me, it isn't really about the cost.  We need to fly AA b/c we both have status with AA and in order to fly AA into FLL, we have to connect, which is a no-no for me, if it can be avoided.  So we just book DCA to MIA and deal with the "commute" if there is one.

  5. I hope you have a nice beach at Condado.  One of the times we stayed in Condado all we had was a rocky outcropping (it was beautiful though !).  We are leaving for SJ on April 27 and this time we are staying at the Sheraton Old San Juan.  It will be our first time to stay in OSJ.

I wouldn't worry about it.  If they tell you to book 3:30 or later and you are booked at 3:15 I would say you're golden !

My name is Mary and my husband Ben and I will be sailing on our first Royal Caribbean cruise 5/4-5/17! We are celebrating our 41st anniversary with this cruise on Radiance of the Seas around the Hawaiian Islands.  We have been on 3 other cruises in the Caribbean on other cruise lines.  We love to travel-and this trip is one of bucket list vacations.  Pulling out all the stops on this one!

VERY nice !   Welcome to the Blog and the Boards.

Just don't plug a hairdryer or curling iron into it.  Step daughter made that mistake once ?

Because I travel to Europe frequently I purchased a dual power hair dryer.  Problem is....it is so damn hard to change from 110 to 220 that I threw it in the trash !  I just use the <wholly inadequate> ones they have in the hotels over there.  I look like a scarecrow but at least I don't have trouble with the crows over there.

One tip I like giving is, bring a travel adapter.  That way you can make use of all of the plugs in the room.

This is an excellent tip....just remember (those who may be considering it) that your device must be dual power and be compatible with the European currents.  Using a US-only device in a European outlet is an easy way to burn up your hairdryer (or whatever else you have plugged in there).  Most cell phones/computers are already dual voltage so that's a good thing - just be sure before you plug it in.
