  1. We wondered if maybe they had moved the Key lunch to the MDR b/c we were there (UDP) and were surprised at the small number of people there for embarkation lunch.
  2. No. No liquor...just non-alcoholic beverages excepting the wine option.
  3. Have you checked airline prices yet ? Make sure you factor in airfare to SJ before you make any decision. Depending on what time of you year you are going, the airfare to SJ can be significant. The southern Caribbean is really beautiful and for a first cruise, I can't imagine a better itinerary. But I also agree with Matt that the amenities of the Oasis class ships are unmatched anywhere. You didn't mention whether or not there are children going on this trip. That could make a difference, depending on the ages. For teens, I would definitely recommend the Symphony with all of the activities.
  4. I agree with Lovetocruise2002. The activities where Star Class gives you priority are awesome on the Q Class ships. The only major restaurant that is missing on Q Class is 150 Central Park but I did miss it on Anthem. One big drawback on the Q Class is that all of the SC suites are a long walk aft. I missed deck 17 when I was on Anthem. The Coastal Kitchen on Anthem is far less impressive than on the O class ships but the food was just as good. Of course, the Q Class ships do not have a Suites Lounge at all and that’s a big negative.
  5. There are no limits on any food quantities or types for Star Class (with the single exception of Starbucks pastries). There have never been any limits on appetizers, sides or desserts for anybody.
  6. If she is going to the shipyard at Newport News, it is going to be very pricey !!
  7. Anytime you reprice your cruise it is essentially a cancellation and rebooking. That is why you cannot reprice after final payment. At that time, a cancellation penalty is invoked and it no longer becomes profitable to reprice. You can easily check the current prices by going to the RCCL (royalcaribbean.com) website and : Find a cruise Select the box for how many nights Select your ship Find the month of your sailing at "Leaving Any Date" Apply Find and select your sail date # of rooms - Continue # of people - Continue Cabin Type - Select Cabin Category - Select If you find that the current price is less than what you paid, and you have not yet reached final payment, ask either your agent or call RCCL and ask them to check to see if you can save any money with the current pricing. The only thing you have to be careful of is...you might lose onboard credit or some other perk that you had in your original booking if you want to take advantage of a current lower price. You should be able to price adjust whether you have refundable or non-refundable deposits. The only time the non-refundable issue comes up is if you decide you want to change the ship and/or sail date of your cruise. But for price adjustments it will not matter what kind of deposit you have.
  8. No one knows for sure, of course, but I strongly suspect that the Allure change of itinerary would have been due to the known propulsion problems with Allure. Roatan is a long way from south Florida. Of course, the chances of the cruise actually going to Nassau (if your cruise is coming up in the very near future) may be diminished as well...but I wouldn't think that they would re-schedule Roatan if the original itin was changed due to Allure's azipod issues.
  9. You realize that you will forfeit part of your deposit if you change the ship and/or sail date, right ? Since this is a full suite, there is a $100 per person penalty for cancelling a suite.
  10. This is probably just the Crown & Anchor loyalty reception. Sounds like they’re holding it in 270 so there will likely be a roboshow of some kind.
  11. I have a medium-sized pair of scissors with me and have never had an issue. They are certainly not SHEARS but they have about a 2" blade on them. No pointy tips though
  12. I'm only guessing, but I suspect they will expire each day.
  13. We have run across Mario a few times and he has always been very friendly an approachable.
  14. The only problem with opening the luggage is that it takes up twice the floor space but if you only have 1 suitcase it should be fine.
  15. Yes, once the new casino year started (1 April) the percentage discount for comped upgrades changed significantly. We used to pay about 40% of the discounted (BOGO or whatever offer they are pushing) rate but now we’re lucky to pay 70% of the discounted rate. Very disappointing.
  16. I think there is a way to directly purchase a cruise but we always just used the points for onboard credit.
  17. My experience is that there are plenty of table games that permit smoking. It doesn’t bother me unless smoke is wafting directly in my face but it does stink. No doubt.
  18. Enjoy your extended vacation and remember that you are now enjoying what should be someone else’s great vacation (through no fault of your own). Your good fortune is their disappointment. ??? I’m so glad to hear that Royal is doing the right thing for you !
