I think they are more inclined to make it Suite only and ban Pinnacles.  Or adopt a limit on Pinnacles like they do on elite heavy sailings, something like 2 visits max per week.  Problem solved.

The Royal Suite program generates a lot of revenue and is in place partly because of the competition.  Eliminating a suite restaurant would be a huge competitive disadvantage.

It's only been around since 2016 so it's new.  Three years is hardly a long time so they'll likely adapt it before getting rid of it.

You beat me to the “submit” button !

  2. They certainly could do that but the suites restaurant is kind of a standard suites amenity these days. I think it would be a step backward for Royal to eliminate a Suites restaurant. My hunch is that eventually the suites restaurant will be exclusive to suites guests the way it is on Celebrity and there will be other options for loyalty members much like what they’re doing on Allure next week.

Royal has put a lot of money and effort into upgrading their suites experience. I find it very hard to imagine that they would remove one of the stand-out amenities.

  3. As an aside, our M&M on LIB on Monday was one of the biggest I’ve been to.  Very well attended and enjoyable. It was followed immediately by the Suites reception and that was also well attended and enjoyable. We nearly always skip both of those events but we’re glad we went this time.

Would you be able to change your reservation time? or cancel and make a reservation for the following night?

As far as changing times, absolutely you can reschedule your reservation for another time, assuming there is availability. As far as changing days, the rule states that you have to use one of those meals on either the first or second night so there could be an issue with changing nights. In reality, they are probably unlikely to give you a hard time about changing dates unless the restaurants are really booked up.  They want you to good experience so unless there is a real reason to be strict about day 1 and 2, they would probably permit it. I’ve read of many people who have been allowed to slip their BOGO reservations past days 1 and 2.

Sounds like our day in Costa Maya will be a good day for JR. We've got drink packages, so hopefully shakes will be included. I see onion rings in my future!

I should have asked about the drinks package. I’m fairly confident that they are included for the UBP. It’s wheter they are included for the refreshments pkg that I’m not sure about.  If I get a minute I will run up there (well, most likely I will NOT run) and ask.

Not for most...We home school, and I'm a mean mom! ?

We start the week after the 4th of July, we do school for about 6 weeks, take a 1 week break, 6 weeks on, 1 week off, and repeat until about the first week of May when we start our summer which is about 8 weeks long. We take two weeks for our big spring break and about 2 ¹/² weeks at Christmas too. Our schedule makes it easy to get good cruise deals! ?

Oh....that explains it. Good for you !

  7. We have sailed on Grandeur during the holidays the past 2 years and we really love it.  It’s a small ship (compared to the monster ships) but we enjoyed it very much.  We were very disappointed to find that they have discontinued the combo Christmas +NY cruise that we have been taking.

There are no water slides or laser tag or bouncy things but it is more of a traditional cruise. There are 3 specialty restaurants- Chops, Giovanni’s and Izumi.  The food and service are very good so will not starve. Getting into and out of the port are easy. I highly recommend Grandeur. Just make sure you know what you’re getting....or more importantly, what you’re not getting.

  8. Today is COZ and as is our normal preference when we visit COZ, we stayed on the ship.  We have the UDP and decided to check out the ever-questionable policy on dining at Johnny Rocket, using the package.  The restaurant opened for business today (port day) at 1PM. We arrived shortly after 1:00 to find that the UDP on LIB covers all food as well as sodas. It does not (as we fully expected) cover the shakes...but they did give us BOGO shakes from our D+ coupon.  So we were able stuff our gullets to near the breaking point for $-0- with a total bill of $5.90 for 2 shakes.

We often forget about JR as a lunch option, which on port days, is extremely limited.  So remember that if you have the UDP and want a “specialty” lunch dining option on a port day, JR might be a good option - at least, on LIB.  I realize that different ships have different rules regarding JR.

  9. I think the must offer this on LIB as well.  On our last day we had to schedule our dinner a little later than we had originally planned (just 15 mins...no inconvenience).  They told us there was a “special event” taking place earlier.  I’m thinking guac Class.
