  1. United told me my direct flights that were changed to layovers and slight time difference didn't qualify for cash refund because it was less than 12 hours. I recall reading they changed that. Luckily one flight was points (redeposited) the other was just under $400 which was converted to a voucher. Paid upgrades refunded to credit card (with a pretty lengthy explanation and documents to support my request - if I sat tight, I would have lost over $600...) This entire thread makes me nervous for my upcoming final payment on the Oasis of the Seas given the state of NY/NJ.
  2. Not in the least. You should have been presented with options. Heck even United Airlines gave me options.
  3. While the cruise I want to change isn't eligible for 'lift & shift' (because of the cruise I'd replace it with) this is the reason I cancelled my Cruise Planner purchases first, once that's processed, I'll discuss options with my Travel Agent. I was concerned how it might be handled if we cancelled, or became one of the lucky ones who lifted & shifted to something completely different. While I do consider it money spent and paid my CC already ... but, I'd rather earn some (quickly declining) interest from Ally :).
  4. Edit: Never mind, google took me to the Australia site. Guess I'll leave the information for the Australia market. Not a bad idea ... https://www.royalcaribbean.com/aus/en/faq/questions/how-do-i-purchase-on-board-credit-
  5. I believe Splendor is a Carnival ship. I agree the authenticity is definitely at question. It seems to be sorted by date, and quick scan no two ships on the same date except for January 5th.
  6. I'm curious why credits are taking so long to process. Refunds I understand but not credits. I cancelled a United flight and received a credit right away. Refunds for paid upgrades is another story.
  7. I always think about this when in Vegas as people exit with a hotels glassware often - I get a lot of the hotels are under a larger parent company (MGM for example) but it must cause complications (and maybe money for always buying new glasses?).
  8. YES. We booked the GS on Anthem twice because we sailed it once previously and just couldn't go back to an Oceanview Stateroom. With friends and family on all three of those cruises, we didn't take advantage of any of the benefits or relax much in the room. Ugh, now I want to upgrade my next cruise LOL.
  9. Team Windjammer here too! When sailing with friends it's a great meeting spot. Also, there is a man with a beer cart who wants to be my friend.
  10. Yep. Same. I'm doing all the stuff as if it's a go. It does screw with planning next year. We are looking at the 9/19/21 Oasis sailing but if this is a go, we might not want to do the exact same cruise the following year. I'll half be surprised it's cancelled and half be surprised it's not. Of course there is the "what will onboard life be like less than 8 weeks after shutdown" question too.
  11. It would take me an hour to decide which one of those hot dogs to eat!
  12. Same. Mines too much to type, but I received the future travel credit, but not my points or paid upgrades. Ours was only one horrible layover in both directions with slight change in time, not enough for them to say we could get a refund. However, the destination was Las Vegas for Memorial Day weekend. Fingers cross, I'll dispute it if they refuse to refund paid upgrades, it's over $600 dollars.
  13. I've been to Circus, Circus twice. Once to check out the rides, that was in 2005. The second time was in 2018 for my friends bachelor party. We walked from from the Gold & Silver Pawn shop to the Stratosphere, in July because we hate ourselves. The plan was to check out the rides - well they were closed - bummer. So, we cooled off, and with time before having to clean up for night time non-sense, we decided to keep walking. Finally called it quits around Circus-Circus and to grab an Uber. Well, we decided to cool off again first and play a few slots. I got on the carousel of slot machines. When I got off, I was completely disoriented, had no idea where I was since I didn't know the layout and the casino floor is blah, I thought, this is how I die - trapped in the horrible casino! I'm good with that place! LOL
  14. Our favorite island! Even got married there! The people are so friendly. The island is beautiful and so much history. We have not even touched the surface on things to do in our 7 visits. Mainly because we do same thing... Get scooter, go to beach, go shopping in Hamilton, etc. We did do the caves one year and Swizzle Inn after. Totally recommend!
  15. We loved Magens Bay & Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas. We have also successfully snuck in Paradise Point on our visits. Going to miss that most of all on a cruise we are rescheduling. A bushwacker at Bushwackers and the greatest views! However, I did try my hand at a bushwacker...
  16. We have September 20th on Oasis and I'm not hopeful - looking at September 19th, 2021... As you previously stated, Oasis is still here next year and plenty of CocoCay cruises. I'm doing the same, I'll pay in full and see what announcements they make in the coming weeks.
  17. How about a little throwback to our first Royal Caribbean cruise in 2007 to Bermuda. It was our second cruise (first was a carnival 3-day themed a few months prior) and we fell in love with Royal Caribbean and Bermuda. We did the shipwreck tour and Horseshoe Bay.
  18. Doc would be upset you're using the time machine for financial gain :).
  19. As of current, we still are fingers crossed, will pay in full and wait for our September 20th sailing on Oasis... BUT, we are looking at cancelling and re-book our December Harmony cruise to September 19th, 2021 on Oasis... It'll be our 5th anniversary & a late celebration of the 11th anniversary of my wife's 29th birthday. If we get the crowd to join us that we'd like, I'm apologizing now :).
  20. I am so anti-debit card just from the fact it exposes your checking account. You're at the banks mercy to release funds that might be tied up due to fraudulent activity.
  21. I think that's as low as you'll see too. September cruise (Oasis, NJ) is $44 and December cruise (Harmony, Orlando) is $49 with the 40% deals that have been popping up. If memory serves me, these feel like 2016 prices.
  22. Not recently, but on April 22nd I canceled and re-booked a spa treatment, the refund posted on April 26th.
  23. This! Never rely on yourself. Wife took a trip last year with her ambulance core she volunteers with for EMS week. Our scale batteries were dead. I said, don't worry I am not struggling at all, you're under 50 pounds (when carrying to her car). Well, turns out she wasn't and her friends just made fun while she was scrambling (it was only a pound or two, think she moved a pair of jeans or something). I did take the blame later of course ?. In hindsight I should have at least used our bathroom scale with the weigh without and with trick. Oh well.
  24. This will be my #1 requirement when shopping for new luggage, which will not be for a few years I'm sure. We too have soft samsonite spinner luggage as our primary pieces, not top of the line and price was very reasonable as it wasn't their latest and greatest. They have held up to all the abuse we toss at them personally, cruise line porters, and airport/airline staff. I think they are decent quality without breaking the bank. In her younger years my wife bought American Tourister luggage, it was cheap so she could afford it and came with a few pieces. Believe it or not, they held up well, still have them in the basement. The largest one a foot broke so it doesn't stand well (or at all?) on its own, but hey in a pinch we have them. Not bad for the broke college student.
