YOLO reacted to AshleyDillo in Does the entire reservation get repriced when you add a guest?
In my experience it does, but you may get lucky. I always book for 2 even when planning on going solo just in case someone does end up joining to avoid the reprice.

YOLO got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Current cancellation policy?
This according to @Matt...
So that is $100 per person.

YOLO reacted to twangster in Current cancellation policy?
Full suites are mostly non-refundable with a few exceptions. Junior suites are normally available on a refundable basis.

100%. but sometimes you have something you can't miss. I have a once a year meeting on my first day of my cruise in Sept that no one else can cover - debating the pros and cons of missing it.

I am so glad that I don't have to do this.
The major reason I go on a cruise is to get away from work. I don't want to even think about it. I do but I don't want to.

Sign into ship wifi on phone, set phone to hot spot, log into phone with laptop?
With that said...I've tried working from the ship....it kinda sucks.

DUO can also use a device as a token generator if your IT/Security department allows it. In this mode it doesn't need to be connected. See if your DUO is configured to work with alternate authentication.

YOLO reacted to ScooterScott22 in Working from ship question
Worked from the ship, with varying degrees of success.
With regards to the multiple devices question. It is possible to switch devices pretty easily as mentioned before. The issue might be timing. If you are solo that might be an issue if the timeframe for the code entry is really short. But if you are traveling with someone you can use their device access for a short switch. Just make sure that “borrowed” code is not the one you plan on utilizing for the actual meeting, because when they log back in it will kick you off.
As far as real success to do everything it might be a little tricky. Slow speeds were felt at times. I found it was easier to do as much as possible off-line and wait to sign in and then link and do everything that requires a connection. You can connect and let the outbox work while you go get lunch or a drink, LOL. On Teams if you can do without sharing your camera, that also helps. I found that Teams on the phone (iPhone) actually did better compared to the laptop.

I do the remote work onboard all the time with secure laptop and secondary code authentication. The TOTP Authentication app we use can work without the internet and generates the codes on its own. Was not sure until I tried it but it works disconnected from the network. Not sure about DUO. The only issue I have is slow internet speeds but I am accessing my workstation at the office and my laptop is only serving as a remote terminal so it is not too bad but hopefully will be better when StarLink is installed on all the ships.

You can switch between devices on the 1 device package. It will log the 1st device out if you log a 2nd device in.
Internet can also be unreliable, especially on the older ships. It works at times but slows way down or stops completely at others. This can also be influenced by the itinerary and ship position. I don't think anyone would describe the ship's internet as good.
There will be times when it is usable, the concern would be if there is a time when you must have it available (for a teams meeting as an example) and it wasn't working well enough to support it. In Ports, you can typically either pay for cell data, or find a place with reliable internet so you could try to schedule important meetings then.

I did a little "WFH" trial on Harmony at Thanksgiving so the internet might be "newer/better" than some ships.
I logged my laptop into the ship Wi-Fi and connected, then hotspotted my laptop so that my phone could get Wi-Fi through the laptop.
That allowed the code to come through to the phone to do the VPN.
I generally found it ok, video on Teams was unreliable but audio was fine and email/data was ok if slow.

Yeah, same here. I have 2 slices of pepperoni every night with soda from the machine (some bedtime snack hey). Also we like to take dry cereal for snacking on excursions.

@Dani Marie Welcome to the Royal Caribbean Blog Forum.
Sure! You can even take away a full pizza with you (pepperoni is my favorite) to share and/or eat elsewhere. Two weeks ago on the Ovation we brought a free full pepperoni pizza into the Pub where they sell food and drinks - it was not a problem.

Anyone thinking of making this a B2B to preserve the embarkation & debarkation ports for roundtrip to one airport? Two likely choices would be:
Colon, Panama [MAR 16th & MAR 23rd] @ ONX
Panama City [MAR 9th & MAR 16th] @ PAC or BLB

YOLO reacted to twangster in Transfer whole booking / Transfer single ticket / Go solo / Don't show up ?
https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-with-confidence
For sailings booked by March 31, 2022, that depart by September 30, 2022, you can cancel up to 48 hours before your sail date and get the full paid value in a Future Cruise Credit. You can then use your credit toward any sailing you wish — the options are endless.

YOLO reacted to twangster in Transfer whole booking / Transfer single ticket / Go solo / Don't show up ?
Is the booking eligible for Cruise with Confidence? If so you get 100% FCC that can be applied to a future cruise.

If you booked after March 31, 2022 you could try contacting Royal to explore other options that are not official programs like CWC. If booked through a TA talk with them. They can sometimes find solutions you may not have considered. It never hurts to ask. One phone agent might say no, another might say yes so have your plan B ready to go, such as a future ship and sail date.

Someone can go in Ceil's place. Changing the name won't change the booking number or reprice it. One of the original passengers does have to stay on the reservation. You could go by yourself. You'd get the port fees back. If you just didn't go you'd lose your money.

Well... Nothing official yet but, sent an email to my MEI agent. My thoughts are book refundable with some FCC as a deposit and hope for the best. I'd really like to make this trip.

YOLO reacted to twangster in Solo Points Question
Studio cabins do not provide an extra point for solo since a studio cabin is priced for a single guest. The keyword here is "Studio". If that word appears any in the cabin type it will not earn an extra point for solo.
If the cabin would normally hold two guests but a solo passenger books and pays any single supplements for that cabin then a solo guests earns an extra point per night.
If the fare is a GTY or "We pick the cabin" type fare and the ship has studio cabins they can assign you a studio cabin that would not earn the extra point.
So as long you are not looking at a GTY type fare or a studio cabin then it should earn an extra point for a solo guest booked in that cabin.
Also be aware that it only takes one of you earning 11 more points to cross the threshold. Technically you both don't have to sail if you wanted to save $1,100. Once C&A establishes that you and your wife are in a "relationship" then you both will appear to have the status or whichever of you has the higher points. If one of you has sailed more than the other they should be the one to go solo to cross the threshold. If you both have cruised equally then it doesn't matter which of you puts you over the threshold. However if you both want to go on the 6 night cruise then this is a moot point.

YOLO reacted to CruiseGus in Solo Points Question
If you sail Solo in an interior double occupancy room (not the special solo cabin some of the larger ships may have) you will receive 2 points per night. This is the same as you get when 2 people sail in a Jr Suite.
