Leroyr55 reacted to RBRSKI in Toilet Flushing
Just a topic on a funny note.  I am watching the Navi turn in the basin at the Port of Miami right now, daydreaming as was wondering?
How many times does the crew have to flush all of the toilets in the staterooms so they stay in working order?

    CDC: BECAUSE WE SAID SO!

Royal is doing what it needs to do to survive.  It's obvious the CDC has no intention of letting them sail soon in America.  Numerous ports have agreed to allow Royal ships to visit on the premise that everyone will be tested and everyone will be vaccinated.  Virgin Cruises is doing the same.
There is no way any Caribbean nation can tell it's people they are opening their ports to thousands while those countries haven't been vaccinated unless everyone arriving is vaccinated and tested.  That is the only way to better ensure the safety of the Caribbean nations being visited before those residents can get the vaccine.
I realize many will not choose the vaccine and some can't get the vaccine for medical reasons.  The problem facing Royal is the very real possibility of collapse if they wait any longer.
Boycott if you must, spend your money elsewhere if you choose.  However understand the company has to do this to survive.

It will be interesting to see how they operate the island overnight.  Will there be a curfew when guests needs to be on board?  I could see a lot of people having consumed a lot of a favored drink such as Tex on the Beach, trying to live out that drink, with ... on the beach. ?

So I priced SOS ocean view balcony for May 7th 2022 7 night eastern Caribbean cruise. To my surprise is was almost the same price for my canceled May 2021 cruise. So I decided to do the FCC option and with that was able to upgrade to a jr. suite.

Carnival Is Crewing Up Its Cruise Fleet
The cruise industry continues to near a restart in the United States as Carnival Cruise Line has begun the process of bringing crew back to its fleet of cruise ships.
“We are delighted we have now reached the point where we can invite our crew back to the ships,” was what the line wrote in an email sent to select crew and obtained by Cruise Industry News.
Carnival said its team had been “very busy” working with relevant health authorities in developing health and safety protocols to enable a return to guest operations.
“As you can imagine, there have been many changes implemented since you were last onboard,” the email continued, “all developed with the health and safety of everyone in mind.”
The cruise line said in the letter it expects to ramp up its fleet and an email series for crew will launched to help them prepare for what’s ahead, what to do at home, when they will travel and the new way of life onboard.
Carnival also said it would be sending out additional communications to crew over the next several weeks.

Politicians aren’t the ones who can change the CDC’s ban directly.  It’s a Department of Health and Human Services issue.
But more to your point, more and more I’m getting the sense the unsaid “truth” is things are moving for cruises to get closer to restart with test sailings and whatnot.  I say this based on recent cruise line comments.

Leroyr55 reacted to twangster in Odyssey of the Seas Ems River Conveyance Coming Soon
The lowest part underwater and extremely valuable assets are the azipods and propellers.
By backing it down they can keep the aft of the ship centered in the deepest part of the river while the forward area which is not as deep has a little more latitude to venture out of the deepest part of the river with less concern.
If any part of the ship is going to approach the bottom it's better for it to be the bow.
