As someone who is getting over the flu, and had a cruise set for this Sunday, 8 March 20 on OAS, I can tell you they moved our cruise to Dec 20 without much of a fuss. I got the flu on Tuesday, 3 March and I bet I could pass those medical tests easily so it doesn’t provide much comfort to the fellow passengers. I never had above a 99 fever and the major symptoms were gone within 48 hours leaving me with a bad cough and very snotty nose. But, the doctor told me to stay away from people for 7-10 days as I could be still contagious.

We are on the May 10th sailing, we fly to Barcelona on May 7th (arrive on May 8th) then cruising.
Still planning but watching to see if there is a reason to change our plans or they change them for me.
I am on hold with my trip insurance company as I type this.
Just getting all my ducks in a row to make an informed decision.
I would be really bummed if we can't go but I have also wanted to see Alaska (maybe my back up trip)
I can aways plan another trip when this is sorted out.

By learning from these great people I just snagged a great deal!!!
I already did final payment on our May 2020 Western Med cruise but still was checking prices and saw they had dropped.
So I called, all RC could say is no.
I got the best RC C & A rep, his name is Kenu.
I went from a family interior to a GYT Suite (Some people here are a bad influence and YOLO)
Yes, I paid the difference but since I listen to the wonderful people on this blog ( see above) I booked as soon as it opened so it was at a great price to start with.
The price difference was $700 per stateroom (I know, it was a crazy good price, to me at least)
So now we can try out a suite and see if it's worth they extra cost.
Of course my husband is worried, he thinks once I try a suite I will never want to go back to a OV balcony (our typical room)
Plus again taking the advice from here, I got two staterooms for us four (why we were in two family interior staterooms instead of a OV balcony)
So our daughter and her boyfriend are also in a GYT Suite.
I just had to share, I'm super excited.  I can't wait to see where we land in terms of suites ( totally fine with a JR suite)
Plus we get double C & A points!!

We did the Med cruise on Royal a couple of summers ago.  It was Summer, it was hot, it was crowded.   We survived!
We booked all of our own excursions, none through the ship.
We saw Florence and Pisa the same day.
We saw Vatican City and Rome/Colosseum.
We did Pompeii on our own and a Vespa scooter ride in Naples.
We took a cab from Marseille to Cassis and hung out on the beach all day.
We tendered to Villefranche , took the bus to Nice, and explored on our own.
It was an amazing trip.   The trains were on strike one day, there were accidents on the Italian highway another day, and my son got accosted by a street vendor in Florence.  All part of the fun.  The guides we booked were always waiting for us when we got off the ship and returned us in plenty of time.   Never in danger of getting back too late.
    You can do it too.

Could it be the influence of this blog or the podcast...........?    I'm blaming Mr. YOLO/aka Matt.

MicDay got a reaction from PRebecca in Upgrade to balcony? Will I lose my items in my cruise planner?
I did just call, I figured they could say no.
I actually got a great C&A rep, the best I've ever had, he listened.
The call started with a question about the Royal Up.  We were in 2 family interior staterooms.  The RU offer was for a OV balcony (highest level, rest were for OV staterooms)
I was asking if I could receive another offer for a stateroom more comparable to the my current size.  I mentioned the price the Suite guarantee was and he asked if I wanted to upgrade.  I said Yes.
Not sure why it worked the way it did, this is only our second cruise with RC.
Maybe one of the way more experienced cruisers can explain?

I just upgraded my May 2020 cruise after final payment.
In my cruise planner is the $18 intern drink package, a couple of excursions and a specially lunch at Chops.
All still there after the upgrade. I did pay for all, no OBC used.
Also when we booked we got OBC, when I upgraded we got an additional $100.
    Hope that helps.

With all the impending doom and gloom of the news today, when it comes to Covid-19 and such, let's look on the bright side.
    What's your happy place?
What's the one spot on any ship, or specific spot on a specific ship that you look forward to when you cruise?
Mine is on any ship, at the rail with a cup of coffee in hand at sunrise.
    Happy cruising!
