IRMO12HD reacted to twangster in Allure refurbished 1st sailing
I was booked on Navigator for a B2B on the first two sailings after the amplification.  A couple of things...
Navigator was the first Amplification that included so much in the refresh.  Previous amplifications had included less.  Strong winds and weather impacted the Navigator refresh.   That is obviously out of their hands to control but always a possibility during a refresh.  I'd say Royal learned some lessons during that process.  It cost them money in the form of refunds and future cruise credits so it's not like Royal wants to repeat that experience.
Having said that there is always a possibility of something occuring during a dry dock.  Look at Oasis when a crane fell on the ship.  That's another cruise that Royal cancelled on me.  Oh well, cranes happen.  It's not like they did it on purpose.

This next statement is pure exaggeration.  Yes the blaster water slide was not open (the other slide was), the final fitness area was closed so they implemented a temporary fitness area and Adventure Ocean was closed.   That's hardly "half of the stuff".
This next statement is interesting.  I appreciate these aren't your words, but someone else putting words in the mouth of CC.  I often find myself at odds with CC.  All the more reason to book it.

That first sailing on Navigator was amazing and one of my best cruises.  I couldn't imagine avoiding the ship for a month.  It's possible that something isn't finished on the first cruise out of refresh.  Only you can decide if that will ruin the entire cruise or if you can move past that and enjoy everything else that did finish on time.

I just re-booked myself. It was very easy and the agent on the phone took care of it quickly.

My rebooking was for an upgraded cabin. I spend 15 minutes on hold, spent $230 and now have room 8164 on Empress of the seas. Well worth it in my opinion.

I just checked my March 2020 Anthem cruise.  I re-priced today at $32 lower - oh boy!  I did also get an additional $50 OBC.  But the best part is for the lower price I got moved from an inside room as far aft as you can go (4U) to a midship balcony (2E).  It is on deck 6, so it is obstructed, but we still think it was worth it.
There was another perk which I though I might get, that being 1N of specialty dining for 2.  But that was time sensitive and although today was in that window, it was disallowed because my original booking date came before the promotion.  Bummer, but we are still happy with the "upgrade" they paid us to take.
BTW, I also could have chosen an inside midship room and saved another $50, but it would not have received the additional $50 OBC.  So that made it a wash and it just came down to which midship room upgrade we wanted...

I have zero clue about how hard it is to rebook.  This is why I use my trusty MEI TA.  She goes through her bookings when the sales are released and will automatically send out new invoices if she catches a price job.
Amount of effort on my end is minimal.  I'm still impatient and I check the sales myself and usually email her what I got before she gets to mine..but I don't have to call Royal ever.
Kind of priceless to use a TA, especially for this kind of a situation.
But for $130 I would get on the phone with Royal for sure.  That's 20 minutes to save $130..good return on an investment of time to me!
You could also consider hitting up MEI and getting your booking transferred to them and having them reprice it for you..but you have to hit it before the sale ends!

Oh you're right! My original booking is refundable but the new price I was looking at was before the names and refundability selection. Thanks so much! I will re-check before I spend the 20 min waiting for an RC customer service agent.

Call me crazy, but if I book a cruise and then a week, month or year later the prices are all higher that makes me feel good that I got a deal.
If price was constantly going up and down like a Kmart blue light special, it would make knowing when to book feel impossible. So by booking early, we get best price.  From a client/agent standpoint, I think that's a great feeling.

This made me chuckle..I just did a mock booking and repriced a 2020 sailing to Alaska that I have.  It's about $500 cheaper on this sale iteration.  I just got a price drop last week as well and this drops it even more.
I think I'm about to drive my TA crazy here.

Yup..Royal math at its finest.  You are preaching to the choir here.  All I can do is book when I am comfortable with the bottom line price and then hope I can luck into a price drop at some point before final payment.

Appreciate the feedback.  Will look at all options once we book our flight.  The pool itself is a big pro for our kids....and sounds like there are restaurants around to grab somewhere for dinner.  We're pretty low key and don't need much in a hotel (esp if just for an afternoon and one night).

The Key doesn’t really duplicate any D+ perks except for possibly earliest boarding. I think some of the ships still allow D+ to use the reserved seating in the main theater but all the ships (to my knowledge) have kicked D+ out of the reserved seating in the ice skating theater.
I would say if you want lunch on boarding day and Voom you should probably still consider The Key.

Why would you be so concerned where someone else spends their money?  I can see why you wouldn't want to do it, but why plea for someone else not to? How could it possibly affect you?
I got it for last Feb's Mariner cruise. 4-day cruise, $19.99/day. If I eliminate what I would have paid for Voom, used my $25 OBC toward it, I basically paid $5-10 total for the rest of the perks (ummm....a nice embarkation day lunch?).  I enjoyed having my carry on waiting in my room when I finally had access to it.  Would I personally do it on every cruise? Certainly not.  But it's a fine deal on short sailings if it can be snagged at the lower prices.

I looked at my sailing next July, & it's $24.99/person/day = $1000 for the cruise. Really can't justify it, especially since one of our 4 won't use internet.  The only thing I would really like is the embarkation day lunch & the carry on bag drop off -- but I would be leary of handing over the things I put in carry on -- medications, jewelery, important papers. We were already getting 3 device Voom (don't need streaming) for $36/day (total $360), and I did notice it went down to $ 31.50/day, so I grabbed that savings.  Between that and the "oops" beverage package, we've saved quite a bit.

I felt the same way we were going to get surf and stream anyways so it was only $3 more a day per person so well worth it in my books.

I am sorry to hear about your experience.  Our experience was the complete opposite.
As an example, I ordered a drink and made the remark that I am just running to the bathroom.  My thought was this way she knew she could leave it in the cabana.  I went to the bathroom and as soon as I exited, I hear her say Mrs. Pima.  I look around and there she was with the drink on the tray.  I want to say she checked in on us every 20-30 mins.,  usually less because a couple of us would order drinks and by the time she delivered them, someone else ordered, plus the delivery of food (fruit platter, than delivering the menu, delivering the food, cleaning up the food delivery and than bringing the fruit kebabs in the pm).  On top of that if we were all out in the water, she would fold up the towels laying on the chairs.  Check our water bottle stock.
We all remarked that the noisiest thing there when you were in the water were the attendants screaming by the edge of the water their cabana guests name with their drink in hand.  At one point we even remarked that there were 4 attendants standing at the edge with drinks in hand.
    I would contact RCL.
The one thing I did find out through our attendant, is that the attendant contract is not like the cruise contract for their staff.  It is a 4 week contract.  I state this because it might be that due to the hurricane, maybe their more experienced staff did not come back yet if their family home was destroyed.    She told us that every night they actually have boats to ferry staff back home due to how their contracts work. They leave @ 6:30 p.m.  and the ferry will bring the staff back at 6:30 a.m.
