  1. Ok, so I've submitted a bid through RoyalUp for a neighborhood balcony, upgrading from an ocean view stateroom. My question is, if my bid is accepted will we get the perks that come with a neighborhood balcony? Just curious, I mean, if we don't, no biggie. Sure  would be nice though! Crossing my fingers for a boardwalk balcony though...partial ocean view, haha! Thanks in advance!

  2. So, question for all you lovely people! We leave in 85 days, I downloaded the app and for the most part, it’s really well done. However the itinerary I see on the app raises some concerns. Our itinerary has always been St Kitts, St Thomas and Nassau. The gangway times for St Kitts is accurate, but the next day is supposed to be St Thomas and it does say that in one place, but the gangway times are listed as not even St. Thomas, but San Juan! At 12! Also the gangway times for Nassau changed in the app from 10 am to 8am. Is it possible that it’s changed with no notifications for passengers? If so, will we get a refund for excursions if we cannot do them because of this? I did book through RC, btw... I just wanted to be prepared!

  3. So, I’m agonizing over the decision to keep our soda packages, coffee card and package of water or maybe go for the refreshment package for my son and I.  I’m a single Mom with not much and I’m afraid to “take the plunge “ and spend the extra $100. Please, I need constructive practical advice to help me choose. I say constructive because I’ve been made to look like an idiot on other forums. Be kind.

Agreed! ? We too can only take one big vacation each year especially now since my wife had to change employers a couple of years ago and lost most of her vacation time due to the job change (went from almost 8 weeks to 3 weeks).

Understandable! When I plan a vacation, I aim to make the trip as memorable as possible for us, and it's especially important for me to provide that for my son!Memories! It's all about the quality!

In addition to the other perks you mentioned that caught your attention... For me, my wife and friends, we all planned on doing the lunch at Chops Grille anyway (and now Giovanni's Table/Jamie's Italian was added as an option... hmmm decisions, decisions), so this was another bonus for us... not dragging around our carry-on bags was another little bonus and we were getting at least one device w/ VOOM.

Just an FYI... looks like they finally updated the benefits of the Key online to include the Giovanni's/Jamie's lunch option and the entertainment reservation requirement:

    Summary of your benefits:
    • Priority check-in and boarding. Upon your arrival at the terminal, follow The Key check-in signage to your designated waiting area.
    • Carry-on bag drop off and delivery to stateroom. Drop-off located in main theater onboard and available until 1:30pm. Up to 2 carry-on bags per guest.
    • Exclusive embarkation lunch at a specialty dining venue. Choose between a Steakhouse (Chops Grille) or Italian (Giovanni’s Table or Jamie’s Italian depending on your ship). You can select your venue of choice once onboard. Seating is first come, first served from 11:30am – 1:30pm.
    • Private hours at onboard activities including Rock Climbing, FlowRider and more. The private hours schedule will be provided at check-in.
    • Priority port of call debarkation.
    • Reserved VIP seating at shows in the Main Theater, AquaTheater and Studio B. You must reserve your tickets in advance in the Entertainment section of Cruise Planner up to 72 hours before your sailing or onboard the ship.
    • VOOM ® Surf & Stream 1 Device high speed internet.
    • Choice debarkation with exclusive A La Carte breakfast from 6:30 am – 9:00 am.

To me, it’s well worth the money! We only go on 1 big vacation a year ( I’m a single Mom) and I take that opportunity to absolutely spoil myself and my son!

  6. Is the Key worth the $$? I would have to buy two packages, one for me, one for my son. I think it was priced at around $280. I don’t know how much we’ll use the internet (I’m big on unplugging for vacation), but the priority seating , private hours for onboard activities and port of call debarkation is very tempting! Feedback?

  7. Please help me with any general information on the teen club on board. My son is 12 and quite shy at first. He is on the spectrum as well (Asperger’s). Is there any periodic supervision in these clubs? Sorry for the stupid question...Oh yeah, if anyone has a link to a teen compass, that would be extremely helpful and appreciated! Thank y’all so much!

welcome @Angelicious     one of the biggest things i learned when we took our two boys on their first cruise (12 & 14) was to give them freedom but also at the beginning we kept it in short bursts if you will.   Our number one rule we set was if at any point they missed a check-in with us, then the rest of that day and the next, they would be attached to our hip.     The first couple days we required them to check in with us every couple hours which was a huge success.     We always let them know where we were going to be.  If our agenda changed, we updated them with a sticky note on our cabin mirror.   As the week progressed and they gained more of our trust, we began to make the check in times a bit longer in between.    They enjoyed the freedom and we weren't nearly as nervous.   The vast majority of the times, we were running into them by chance as they hung out with others their age which was nice.    Never had one incident at all,  kids made all their check-ins and even found that they wanted to spend more time with us than had originally planned.       Don't get me wrong,  we spent plenty of family time together on the trip but the boys definitely enjoyed their "alone" time from us.  This wasn't just a run-free and be good, see you in a week type scenario.  ?

    This is a wonderful idea!

Check your cruise planner now. If the entertainment is not available now, check back every week. Definitely will be there once you hit 90 days out. Once you get them booked, the shows will be electronically "posted" on your sea pass card. Show up at least 40 minutes before the show starts (for the better seats) , they will scan your sea pass card and admit you. If you get there 15-20 minutes before the show starts you probably won't get good seats. :27_sunglasses:

We will definitely be showing up early then! I’m vertically challenged (5’1”),so good seats are important!?

@Angelicious, welcome to the message boards!  You've found a great community of people here.  Not sure from your original post if this is your first cruise or not.  Here is a great resource by @Matt to get you started if it is.

Here are a few more posts that are specific to Allure:

Keep asking whatever questions you have.  Someone here will know the answer lol.  And Allure is a great ship.  All Oasis class ships are awesome.  I have a 12 year old as well and she is going on her first Oasis class ship in March.  Great choice for tweens/teens!

Thank you so much for the wealth of information! I have also wondered about staterooms. We have an ocean view at the front of the ship. Thoughts?
