  1. They use a proprietary algorithm that will net them the most money. So the answer is we don't really know. You also have to consider the bids they have in the pipeline for the rooms that will be freed up by any accepted bids..all the way down to that lowly inside room. It's a snowball effect down the chain. Say you're in a JS and you bid 10 for that OS. Someone in a GS bids 5 for that OS, but there's someone in a JS that bid 10 for the GS..that would net 15 if they accepted the bid.
  2. You can book with NextCruise and then transfer the booking to a Travel Agent. You will get to keep the NextCruise incentives. Read all the fine print at NextCruise. Most of the OBC incentives that they offer are for non-refundable bookings. Reduced deposits are also for non-refundable bookings. Those are the two typical incentives for using NextCruise. NextCruise will have the same cruise pricing and offers that you can access on the website. While you are on the ship, hook up to the ship's Wifi and you will be able to access royalcaribbean.com without having to purchase an internet plan. You can price out cruises you are interested in so you know what you are going for when you have your NextCruise appointment.
  3. They provide bar soap and a pump on the wall that is a "conditioning shampoo". There will also be a hair dryer in the room in a vanity drawer (not in the bathroom). The hair dryers are a bit weak and you have to continually hold down the button to operate it, so you may want to consider taking your own if anyone in your traveling party has long hair to be dried.
  4. What room are you in? I don't think they offer suites unless you are already in a balcony at least.
  5. Not at CocoCay but I did see a hold up at a port stop where they were making sure that an under-18er had a guardian when she tried to ding off the ship. There were a couple of families that were all together and they didn't speak English, so there was a hold up as they were sorting it out. They don't check to make sure it's an official guardian, just that they have someone over the age of 18 that claims responsibility for them when they ding off the ship. They don't require them to have guardians when to get back on the ship, but they won't be able to leave again without one.
  6. Cruise Planner purchases show up as a charge from Royal for me (travel category) so I get my 3% as travel is my choice category for one of my cashback cards.
  7. I don't believe Royal has finalized and released deck plans for Odyssey yet or a comprehensive list of the restaurants and bars.
  8. Not true..you only have to double the bid. Makes it much more worthwhile when you've got 4 in your cabin to begin with, but not so great when you are solo. One thing to remember is that the RoyalUp is tied to a single room. For example if you split your family between 2 balcony cabins and then got a RoyalUp offer that included a 2-bedroom suite, you won't be able to combine the two rooms together into that single room. You would still have to pay for both rooms. You could get extra room keys so everyone could have access to one room, but only the ones on the original booking in the cabin that was upgraded will have access to the suite amenities. I've only taken a shot at a RoyalUp once..upgraded from an inside GTY to an OV balcony on Freedom of the Seas Blog Group Cruise Total price with the RoyalUp was cheaper than I would have been able to get a balcony straight up for my sailing, so I am extremely pleased with it.
  9. Aqua80 and the new theater show just appeared for the Nov24 sailing. @ChrisK2793 @AGSLC5 @WAAAYTOOO
  10. Awesome! I will see you on the first official cruise out of Miami on November 24!
  11. I feel like at least the ATS will be open. They will need to rehearse during our sailing anyways..might as well make those open rehearsals.
  12. The Key should come with a special debarkation breakfast. Make sure you take advantage of this because they have a special menu with items you can't get on the MDR breakfast menu!
  13. I'm not familiar with Brillance, but I know I've been on ships where the pullmans are on the wall and then others where they come from out of the ceiling. The rooms where they are on the walls end up feeling more cramped because the pullmans aren't flush with the wall like they are when they disappear into the ceiling.
  14. Actually in the app the Shakedown cruise goes Port Everglades > Nassau (no disembarking) > Port Everglades and then the other two offerings that overlap with those dates go Miami > CocoCay > Miami. Haven't checked port schedules to see if it lines up with the app, though.
  15. Just one of the pitfalls of post-AMP sailings, I suppose. If enough folks complain maybe they'll throw everyone $25 OBC for pain and suffering ? If they're doing a new show or adding features that have any of the components like Flight on Symphony, I can completely understand why they may not want to open up reservations until they are comfortable with the new sets and safety features.
  16. They just go through the metal detectors when you get back on the ship. I've seen folks bringing them back before. No issues. My bigger concern would be checking them as luggage onto the ship. The luggage carts get stacked pretty high and if you care about expensive golf clubs surviving being thrown around, you may want to consider just carrying them onto the ship.
  17. I have a credit card that doesn't charge me a foreign currency exchange fee so when it's an option I have them charge in pesos. Usually my credit card's conversion rate is much better than the posted conversation rate. But everywhere takes US$ and the smaller bills the better because sometimes they will claim they don't have change when you try to give them a $20 ?
  18. I'm going to assume the same thing will apply here as does the Aqua Theater show. New technology possibly and a new cast that won't have a lot of real rehearsal time before sailings to work out all the kinks. On top of this often these shows need coordination with the captain as well (keeping the ship sailing smoothly/slowly, etc.).
  19. Not sure when she's due to start it, but Royal's app seems to think she will be back in Florida by November 21 in Ft. Lauderdale for a 2-night "shakedown" cruise, but that overlaps with a couple of other 2-night cruises out of Miami. But again with anything that Royal's IT has touched, can't truly be trusted. ?
  20. This is EXACTLY where the TA can help you. They have access to a much more robust cabin search feature. If you tell them what you are looking for they can find it and get back to you with what they've found. They can place courtesy holds on cabins and report back to you on pricing. They will work with you via email or over the phone, Facebook messenger, whatever is the easiest for you.
  21. The comedy show that's held in the small comedy club is the only one that you definitely should make reservations for. The ice show, Aqua Theater, and main theater have dedicated seating for suites so as long as you are there 10 minutes before show time you should be able to find a seat in the reserved area. Just have to show your SeaPass card if it isn't obvious ask where the reserved seating for suites is. On Harmony and Allure the reserved area was in the balcony of the main theater, so I would assume it is the same on Oasis.
  22. My last cruise in September it was $14.99 for surf and $19.99 for surf & stream if you purchased it when you got onboard. I have found that it is a better price to purchase it on your cruise planner ahead of time.
  23. They will bring on a lot of contractors to put on all the finishing touches while she is sailing back across the Atlantic for Florida. But most of the big work should be done. First sailing after a drydock always has the potential to be a little rougher around the edges while they get back into the groove of things.
