  1. I find what I want and then contact my TA. The value I'm referring to is overall pricing..but we also book when the itineraries are released. This last release for the Oasis class ships made me feel as they perhaps made the Star Class too affordable!
  2. Ditto! I want a Sichuan Red and Hot Pot on my ships!
  3. I feel like you get a lot more value on an Oasis class ship in Star Class..and they seem to be way more affordable.
  4. Enterprise/National/Alamo all share the same shuttle from the airport/port. You pay a little more for the rental because of the airport access fee, but having the shuttle can be somewhat helpful. Honestly I would go with whatever is the most convenient for you, though. You can always Uber/Lyft from the rental car drop off to the port if needed.
  5. Book refundable and you aren't out any money if you cancel before 90 days out. If you book non-refundable you are out $100 per person and the rest of the deposit is returned in the form of a FCC (future cruise credit) to be used to book another cruise. Effectively it's a $100 change fee they charge and the remaining money is tied up in Royal Caribbean credit. The drawback to refundable fare is the difference is often more than the $100 change fee.
  6. You can ask for Evian and they will give it to you if they have it. Otherwise it's really dependent on what they have on hand. When the ships come back from overseas to the US they end up running off their water stash and it's different than the typical stuff I see which is TRUE.
  7. Check out rcperiscopers.live I'm sure some folks will be scoping if VOOM allows!
  8. This is a very new change..it used to be covered completely and they didn't mention the upcharge in the details. They've also lowered Playmakers to $20 ala carte.
  9. Izumi sushi is ala carte with a $35 limit. The hibachi side is a fixed price. But from what I'm reading is there is a $10 upcharge for it.
  10. My brother has done it before on Harmony. He just didn't bother having them make up the sofabed and he slept on it like it was. If it's not meant to become a sofabed then really the only difference is it might be a shorter sofa and the back cushions won't come off which makes it a bit narrower.
  11. Hurricane Season doesn't mean a greater chance for rain overall. It's not really a "rainy season" situation -- it's just where powerful storms can develop. Cruise ships will avoid sailing into the storms. You are more at risk of the entire cruise being changed or altered because the debarkation port is affected, but the chances of that are pretty slim. My 7-day cruise was affected by Dorian and ended up turning into a 4-day cruise. I still had a great time and left the cruise with a future credit to use for the days that we missed.
  12. Since the Solarium sun deck is for 16+, I would go up to Deck 16 for sailaway. If you go aft by the Flowriders your son can be entertained watching folks participate and you should also get to watch sailaway from either side of the Abyss slide entrance. If the slide is open after sailaway just take it down to the boardwalk ? Otherwise deck 16 all the way around the aft and port sides until you get to the Solarium entrance is a nice place to watch. If you can get up there early enough there are a couple of casitas that are nice to sit and hang out in.
  13. Here's the pricing from my upcoming list..shows that it's really all over the place and no logical way to predict anything! December 29, 2019 - 7-night ABC Southern Caribbean Freedom of the Seas (3 days out): Current pricing: $56 DX | $68 DX+Voom | $26 Refreshment | $8.99 Soda | $21 Soda+Voom Bought DX for $49 on August 8, 2019 (133 days out) June 5, 2020 - 7-night Alaska Ovation of the Seas (162 days out): Current pricing: $51 DX | $65 DX+Voom | $28 Refreshment | $8.99 Soda | $22 Soda+Voom Bought DX for $48 on November 27, 2019 (191 days out) October 11, 2020 - 7-night Canada Brillance of the Seas (290 days out): Current pricing: $55 DX | $69 DX+Voom | $28 Refreshment | $8.99 Soda | $22 Soda+Voom November 5, 2020 - 4-night Inaugural Odyssey of the Seas (315 days out): Current pricing: $65 DX | $79 DX+Voom | $28 Refreshment | $8.99 Soda | $22 Soda+Voom
  14. I am also on the group cruise and we're not big beach people, so the plans are: Curacao - RC Discover Curacao which includes the caves and the distillery. Then we will make it out to the Madero Beach Club for the group meet-up. Aruba - We've rented a UTV for the day and we're going to go out to Arikok National Park first and foremost and then explore Aruba for the remainder of the day. Then we're going on the group Sunset Cruise. Bonaire - We rented a golf cart to self-tour for the day and we will meet up at the Bonaire Blond Brewery with the group in the afternoon. St. Maarten - Nothing reserved but we're possibly interested in Parotte Ville Bird Park in Sint Maarten, Yoda Guy and Guylmohar's on Front Street, and maybe go out to Maho if we can time it with some of the plane landings. Front Street is easy to get to from the port, but we'll probably just taxi it to the other sites.
  15. It is a new practice and it's run by a third party. They don't necessarily hold back rooms, but by setting up a blind bidding system they are able to capitalize when there are last minute cancellations. The offer to bid has little to nothing to do with actual availability. It's also a way for them to collect even more data as to what people would be willing to pay.
  16. Have you considered Odyssey. It's going to be the next new ship that Royal introduces and will be sailing from Ft. Lauderdale. Because it's new, the pricing is a bit higher than you would pay for similar ships but you could definitely get a balcony room for well under that $2200 figure. Otherwise if you're going to look to NCL, you definitely want to go for the newer ships. I'm not sure which ones are sailing from which ports, but check into the EPIC, Escape, and the -AWAY ships for something similar.
  17. No wristband needed. It is coded onto your SeaPass. Until you get your card when rooms are open, you can use your SetSail and it will just show on your account. The bartenders are usually pretty good about letting you know when a drink goes above the threshold. As for the wifi, when you connect to Voom for the first time it will ask you if you want to purchase a package or browse for free. You select purchase a package and you will log into your Royal Caribbean account which is tied to your Cruise Planner/reservations. It will recognize you've purchased a package and should show you have a package available. You select that and you set up your login name and your PIN. That's what you will use to log in.
  18. If you are going out of Terminal A, take the suites checkin. They should send you that way when they look at your SetSail but if not just tell them you're in a suite and you get to go up the magic elevator.
  19. No..but you can follow the signs for suite check-in. Priority check-in is expedited boarding which means when you get to the terminal you actually don't even have to check-in with anyone and you can board with the SetSail pass in the app. Means all your info and the photo you took yourself is cleared for boarding..kind of like they do with checking in for flights online.
  20. They should be set out in the terminal under a Key sign when you get off the ship. It's the same process as when you get off the ship on every cruise. The only difference is they will separate out the Key tagged luggage into its own area and they make sure they get off the ship first so it's waiting for you when you choose to leave. I already have tags on my luggage with my contact info, so I never fill out the cruiseline provided tags. I just affix the paper tags to my luggage and set it out. If I can get extra tags from Guest Services I will put one on each handle just in case.
  21. They should get left on your bed with the typical debarkation letter. They will either be special Key tags, suites/pinnacle tags, or possibly a number. I've seen them do it in a variety of ways. If you got a numbered tag, the paperwork should incidate that your number has priority debarkation. If it doesn't, they may not have given you the correct tags and you should visit guest services.
  22. You should get tags to leave your bags out if you wish. They will have priority to be put out in the luggage staging area in the terminal.
