Update from Royal on FCC and Refunds
karl_nj replied to AnnetteJackson's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Taxes and port fees are supposed to be refunded to your credit card. That being said, I'm still waiting for mine. My cruise was in the first wave of cancellations (early April). -
It does seem like they made a mistake in the calculations. Based on your invoice, I would expect an amount closer to what you already calculated. I'm sure your TA will get it resolved.

United, Delta and American Airlines have each gone through Chapter 11 twice, and everyone kept their frequent flyer miles.

RC asks to Delay Galveston Terminal
karl_nj replied to wordell1's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Cape Liberty isn’t that big of a terminal. It’s certainly no Terminal A Miami. But apparently it can handle Oasis. -

Anything more about that bullet point re: Anthem? -
Yes, I received the FCC's, but still waiting for refund of Taxes. But I did receive refunds of Cruise Planner purchases.

RC asks to Delay Galveston Terminal

That is pretty interesting. I wonder when they were thinking that would be. Would they cancel the currently scheduled Anthem cruises in late 2021/early 2022, or would it be May 2022+ (when the ship might have went back to the UK for the summer)? -
I would just hold off on doing anything and revisit in late May. It's quite possible Cruise With Confidence is extended at that point.

Fellow Canadians - border concerns to get to cruises
karl_nj replied to Tanner's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I would think opening the border between the US and Canada would be one of the first phases, even before cruising resumes. -
Yes, I received mine this afternoon.

On cruise critic people are reporting that the 1 FCC per cruise limitation is now being lifted. However, I have no first hand knowledge of this.

It’s sort of a weird day for the market to be closed. I think I only knew because i get the day off. They company I work for follows the NYSE holiday calendar.

Here is another article on the topic, written by an author that often writes about the cruise industry (both cruising today, and cruising history) in an industry publication: https://www.maritime-executive.com/article/cdc-extends-no-sail-order-delaying-cruise-ships-return

I doubt these companies have the ability to spend money on upgrading their ships and private islands when they aren't operating. They are just trying to survive at the moment.

The stock market is closed today, for Good Friday.

At the moment, I think it's likely Brooklyn has more COVID-19 cases than Bayonne, so i'm not sure Brooklyn would be a helpful idea for an alternate port.

Yes, the form that my son needs filled out by the doctor for boy scout camp every year is much more involved then the form the cruise line was asking for: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf

Anyone know if more then one FCC can be applied to an individual cruise? I already have a cruise booked that has FCC applied. Wondering if I could add more credit to that one.

This is the email I received from Royal, after they cancelled my cruise: Dear Guest, We’re sure you’ve been monitoring the news regarding COVID-19. This situation remains quite fluid, and we all continue to assess the impact and monitor the number of cases around the world. And while there are still a lot of unknowns related to COVID-19, we do know it presents the most serious health risks to older individuals, the immunocompromised, and those with serious underlying medical conditions. At Royal Caribbean International, the safety and well-being of our guests and crew is our top priority. As a result, we are suspending operations for sailings that depart from US ports (including Puerto Rico) effective at midnight tonight, March 14th. Regrettably, we will need to cancel your upcoming Anthem of the Seas April 5, 2020 cruise. Our goal is to resume operation on April 11th, 2020. Knowing this situation is ever-changing, we want to provide you with some options. As we know, this too shall pass, and we are optimistic that very soon you’ll be excited about planning your next cruise vacation. As always, the most important thing to us will always be the safety of both our guests and crew. In the meantime, we’ll continue to monitor the global situation. And, when it’s determined that the time is right, we’ll be ready to welcome you back.

I wonder if the FCC I get for my cancelled spring break easter cruise is going to have the same language that the last FCC I received had: FCCs are redeemable towards cruise fare only and are not valid on Complimentary cruises, Incentive bookings, Charter sailings, and holiday sailings (Easter, Christmas, & New Year's). If so, it means I won't be able to use it to book a Spring Break cruise for next year, which would be unfortunate. Especially since they are issuing the FCC because they canceled a holiday sailing...

Royal Caribbean Suspends all US Operations
karl_nj replied to brycemo's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
So I missed Perfect Day at CocoCay in 2019 due to Hurricane Dorian. Now I missed it in 2020 due to COVID-19. Hopefully I have better luck in 2021! -
The current rumor is 100% refund or 125% FCC, but we don't have any confirmation.

Probably sail around in circles, really slowly, out at sea.
