I was on a call today and we were told that in reality it is taking them more like 45 business days on the first round to complete the cancellations and while they have put that out for the other two rounds, they hope that they can do those faster.  Royal is supposed to be sending an apology to all guests as well.
Not posting this for people to attack on it, or comment really... Just wanted to post it somewhere so people would see this and maybe ask for everyone to be understanding of those that are working on all of these cancellations.  The person that you call in at the call center is not the person that is working on the cancellations.  Your Travel Planner does not have a way to speed the process up.  This is a Pandemic that was not planned for and everyone that is left working is working hard to process these cancellations.

Haven't been on Anthem yet (and missing it in March makes me want to try her even more).  Doesn't the 270 have large windows with amazing views?  I know not the same as being outside but seems like a good compromise.

This is exactly what I'm doing in November. Well, actually, even more direct -- flying or taking the train to EWR and then heading right to the terminal morning of. Yes, I know normally people wouldn't advise this, but I've heard it works well for Newark/Cape Liberty. All flights from here are non-stop, so I can grab a super-early one.
I know things might look a bit grim in the New York metro right now, but I believe in the medical workers and the people of New York and New Jersey. Yes, there's a chance a second wave of the virus could strike in late fall/early winter. Or next spring for that matter. Until there's a vaccine, that's a risk. It's also nearly 7 months away for me.
I believe that as long as cruise ships are sailing again by then, I and many others will be on them. And we'll be smart, follow directions, and adjust to any "new normal" aboard. Yes, all of this in spite of the possibility of being told to quarantine for 14 days afterward -- let's face it...at this point, 14 days is a cakewalk! -- and the possibility of people generally scowling at me because I'm "one of those cruise types". Dang right, I am. My first cruise (albeit on another line) was some of the most fun I've had on a vacation!
And at this point, I need that. I need to get away. I need something to look forward to. I'll wear a mask. I'll spend a certain amount of time in my cabin (part of why I'm booking a balcony). I will do whatever I'm told as long as it means I get to be enjoying one of my favorite days -- Thanksgiving -- on Anthem, especially because I've got a friend who might wanna actually go with me!
If I'm told I can't go, then I trust that Royal and others are making the decision that's best. Until I'm told otherwise, I'll look forward to going, and I'll be prepared to do my part to stay safe and well on board and in ports of call.
@alamode123, I hope whatever you do, you don't make any decisions right now, 9 months out. While "Cruise With Confidence" may or may not still be in place to give lots of extra cushion, you still have 6 months before you hit the final payment date, and a lot can happen in 6 months.

We are booked on 6th Feb sailing (following the cancellation of our Oasis sailing, same itinerary and embarkation port, in what would have been 26 days from now ?).
Like others on here we will be watching developments with interest and looking to make the ultimate call as the final payment date approaches. We are hoping things will be markedly different by then (my wife is a front line NHS care worker and is starting to see the first tentative signs that things are beginning to improve, and whilst we are of course well aware of the dangers of being overly optimistic, it has got to be better than the alternative view, right? ?) Whether the change to colder weather will give the virus a new lease of life remains to be seen of course, and I guess all we can do is hope... and keep everything crossed that the vaccine will become available to the masses toward the end of this year, rather than into next one.

Same.  We are booked end of Dec of this year.  Really hoping to go, but we'll evaluate where things are as we get closer and go from there.  I doubt there will be a vaccine by then, but depending on testing and what changes they make.
You have awhile before final payment, so unless you want your deposit back, then you may as well keep it, watch for price drops, and just see where things are in Feb.
PS - We also need the borders to open up between Canada and the USA (and then have expiring passport issues but that's another story)

WannaCruise got a reaction from RCIfan1912 in Guarantee Neighborhood Balcony
I am always looking at pricing and room options for any cruises we have booked. For our Harmony cruise in March, we currently have a Central Park Interior room booked for our family of 4.  For $500 more we can switch to Guarantee Neighborhood Balcony.  Normally we are fine with an interior if it has some kind of window, but with the current situation, I am questioning if we should book something with access to fresh air.  I am hoping things will be much better by March and we would only keep the cruise if we were comfortable, but there will always be fear of a quarantine.
Currently there are only Boardwalk Balcony rooms showing as available, and I kind of prefer this anyways to a Central Park Balcony, but I suppose it's still a chance someone cancels and they could assigns a CP room.  For the Boardwalk Balcony, I am guessing they would assign one the top deck (and one currently available shows as obstructed) or bottom deck. We would also prefer to be closer aft so we could see some of the water.  (We were mid way on Symphony and we still had a view of it)
One issue with switching to guarantee is you can only book guarantee as non-refundable whereas our current booking is refundable.
We could also book a Boardwalk Balcony room directly but it will be $1300 more or a regular Balcony for $1500 more...but that's a big difference.
Has anyone booked a Guarantee Neighborhood Balcony room and if so, what were you assigned?  Also, how much in advance were you assigned?

They're pretty much identical, though Anthem has 4 sea days, and Grandeur only has 3, with the other day being filled with Charleston, S.C., which is a unique choice.

Well I'm feeling just a tad, just a tiny, idity bit nauseous today. My guess is I will be positive with extremely mild symptoms. That would be my guess though. I have no fever and they say 83% to 99% get a fever. I don't think I'm gonna puke but I feel just a tiny bit nauseous.

Agree with both points.  This summer we had 4 days at Disney followed by 4 night Mariner cruise.  Sadly, doesn't look like either will happen.
With Disney, you have people going on rides that many people were on right before you. You touch the handrail to hold during the ride on or just when get into your seat, and if anyone before you had it, then it's passed (if you touch your mouth, etc before washing hands, you wipe off sweat, etc ).  Not sure how they can get around that.
But a cruise, everyone is in the same place and can't escape so then everyone is quarantined.

Similar on Mariner that we are most likely cancelling....we have the aft corner balcony booked on deck 10.  Balcony price but JS size.  Ugh.

We book a variety of room types but it's usually a promenade or balcony.
Last December, DH and I had a balcony booked on Adventure.  The price dropped quite a bit that we were able to switch to a JS for close to our original booking price of the balcony.  Although there is no Coastal Kitchen on that ship or other suite benefits for s JS, we still really appreciated the larger room.  We walked in and felt "wow...so much room".  The regular shower was nice too....and for me, the best was the walk in closet (and space for shoes!) and so many shelving and drawers for our stuff.  So if the price is similar, I'd say go for it.  The additional space is nice (and double points is a bonus too)

@Chadster just waiting on my future cruise credit to make tho move. My math says we will be able to cover it. Who knows what royals math comes to. But even if it's an additional 100 or 200 I'll bite
It's nice knowing we'll have more space to God forbid we get stuck
