  1. Is this trip adults only, or will you have kids in tow? If you're going kid free, this might be a great time to try out Celebrity (Celebrity does have kid's programming, it's just not as robust as RCCL)
  2. You'll have a great time on Explorer! Recommendation in Orlando would be Kennedy Space Center...close, interesting, and reasonably priced. No need to do a formal excursion unless you just really want to...you can taxi or Uber from the port and purchase your tickets on site. In Miami, the zoo is a great option.
  3. Appetizer: Build your own charrcuterie (I majored in music not English...I know that's spelled wrong ? ) Entree: More entrees without mushroom sauce (why do they put mushrooms on so many things?) Sides: Green Beans, sweet potato, fried corn (I'm a simple girl) Dessert: Anything with cranberry and orange together
  4. If masks become required in public spaces, I would think they would almost have to eliminate smoking in the casinos.
  5. No judgement! We all have the things that we feel kick off our vacation!
  6. I'm super excited about this...no disruption in my beverage package service ? ? But, I do worry about older cruisers who are less tech savvy...I'm technologically "functional" at best, and when I've had to help my mom (who does enjoy cruising with her best friend) figure out anything tech related, it makes me want to beat my head against the wall. Please dear Lord sweet baby Jesus have some crew dedicated to helping out the less tech savvy and senior citizens!
  7. There is NEVER a bad time for ice cream! (OK, maybe if you're about to go for a run in 90+ degree weather...then just eat it afterward!)
  8. My crystal ball shattered while we were moving things to paint during our shelter in place order (HA!), but I have a few thoughts. I have no proof that these are under consideration, but they make sense to my teeny tiny exhausted little brain: ~ I see port arrival times actually enforced to reduce the number of people in the port at a time ~ I think it is very possible that a negative test will be required to board-at least initially ~ Obviously the buffet will be more cafeteria style, but I also see in the main dining room no more combining tables/travel parties that aren't together (we've all done the "dine with a stranger" thing). I think specialty restaurants may extend their dinner hours to allow more spread out reservation times. ~ I think there's a decent chance that room service might temporarily go back to complimentary (even if it's just during peak times) to encourage anyone who wants to eat in their room...as much as I love my servers, I know I'd be down to dine on my balcony a night or 2! ~ I think we could see theater shows require reservations on all ships, and more performance times offered to spread guests out. My husband works for a large church in our area, and they have gone back to face to face worship with a few simple protocols in place: each row is marked with tape either green or blue...at the 9:00 service people sit in the blue rows and at 10:45 people sit in the green rows. You must keep 3 seats between your family and another. Then, the whole sanctuary is fogged after Sunday service. Something like this would be time consuming for the staff, but simple enough to implement. ~ I see masks being required-at least initially like at the Florida theme parks and their resorts...they can be removed if you are eating or settled in poolside (or in the water) ~ I think we may see hot tubs closed initially since their capacity isn't really monitored. I'm sure there are also a ton of things that I haven't thought of, and like I said-I could be wrong about every one of these things. Merely speculation.
  9. We are very blessed that both of our parents live close, and were always able and willing to care for our children which allowed us to have some amazing vacation experiences together. Don't get me wrong...we took the kids on plenty of adventures too, but we also were fortunate enough to get away without them once every year or 2 ?
  10. I've done GTY 3 times, and was unhappy with location each time (under the pool, under the Windjammer, and over the theater-which wouldn't have been so bad except I had a toddler I was trying to get to go to sleep) so now I just pay the extra to choose the location I want. If the noise isn't a factor, it's a great way to save some $$.
  11. Hmmm...as a former gymnastics and martial arts instructor, I'll have to put this on my list to try next cruise ?
  12. My husband and I didn't wait for ours to be out of the house to start cruising by ourselves...we started when they were 2, 5, and 8 ? Currently, our 2 oldest children live out of state, but our youngest (20) is completing an apprenticeship and still lives at home while doing so. When we travel now, we look at it as having a built in housesitter!
  13. Hmmm...my daughter and I are taking a mother daughter cruise next year...I know what she's packing now ?
  14. You can't see it, but there's a "beverage" in my hand. If I close my eyes, I can pretend I'm onboard soaking up the beautiful Caribbean sunshine!
  15. As long as the itinerary, date range, and cabin type are the same, ship or ship class is not a factor. I had 1 client L&S from Enchantment to Oasis successfully ?
  16. My husband and I rode our bikes through the keys last summer for our 25th anniversary. We of course finished in Key West, where we stayed 3 days. We did a sunset sail (not sure what your arrival/departure times are) and visited the Hemingway Rum Distillery where "Pilar" rum is made. The tour was informative and engaging, and the bonus was the rum tasting at the end. Our favorite bar was "The Rum Bar" on Duval. The owner/bartender was very knowledgeable, and their stock was amazing! https://www.speakeasyinn.com/ The Southern Most Point is a quintessential photo spot, and a very doable walk from the pier at Mallory Square. We also did a haunted pub crawl, but again that's in the evening and could be subject to your departure time.
  17. Nothing fancy here...just my unusual obsession with watermelon and the requisite pizza to sustain barhopping ?
  18. I'll eat anywhere as long as there is an endless supply of watermelon ?
  19. My husband and I generally find a bar and bartender that we like (on our 2/24 Mariner sailing it was Svetlana in the Bamboo Room), and tip extra at the beginning and end of our cruise.
  20. So this is one of my absolute favorite vacation pictures ever. When we were in Bermuda in June 2018, we did a 2 day transportation pass which was good for bus transportation and ferry transportation around the island. (It was around $30/person). We did a little research about the different sites we could see along the bus routes, and went all over the island for 2 days. One of the afternoons, we happened to hop on the bus with a load of school children...they take the public transport to and from school. As a former teacher of 20 years, I flocked to the back of the bus to talk with all the kids. It was one of my all time favorite vacation memories ever. They swarmed when I asked if I could take a selfie with them.
  21. Thanks It has definitely been a difficult time, but I'm so glad to be here to walk my clients through all of this craziness. Looking forward to cruising again...I think I'm going through withdraw!
