MelKaps got a reaction from tingtang in New Dining package prices
I spotted a glitch in the cruise planner last week for the UDP. Regular price was $199pp and the sale price was $148.99pp. This was $75 less than what I paid. After clicking on it, it said sold out and I was unable to purchase it. However, I called up Royal and was on the phone for an hour. They were unable to refund me, so instead they generously gave me $150 OBC for how much I would have saved.
Now the regular price is $384.99pp with the sale price being $287.99pp.

MelKaps got a reaction from TessFromFlorida in When can you disembark ship at Rome Port?
Interesting! I was off Odyssey at 6:45am last year and we had a private shuttle waiting for us. We made our 11am flight with plenty of time.

It has been a while, but new cruise vlogs are here! In September 2022, we sailed aboard Odyssey of the Seas from Civitavecchia to Greece and Turkey.

MelKaps got a reaction from BowTieBrigade in What is Your "Pet Peeve" on a Cruise? (something that a particular person finds especially annoying.)
1 - When a hot tub is full and people still enter, squishing themselves in. The elevator is one thing, but a hot tub?
2- When people don't realize a bathroom stall is occupied and proceed to tug on the handle of every stall. If it is red, it is occupied. (Yes, sometimes the colors are not accurate, but I honestly prefer a knock than someone trying to barge in.)
3- Guest Relations line is always long no matter the time or day.
4- People grabbing food in the buffet with their hands.
5- When the elevator is too full and the people waiting push the up/down button before the elevator has a chance to leave, causing the doors to keep opening.

MelKaps reacted to FionaMG in Sep 28th 9 night Greek Isles out of Rome
I'm glad it was helpful. 😊 It was an amazing cruise and I'm sure yours will be too.
We didn't have Athens. We had Rhodes instead. I did visit Athens a few years ago on another cruise and we got the train into the centre. Try and go as early as you can, especially if you want to see the Parthenon. It was very crowded when we went. And be very mindful of your belongings. On the crowded train someone slit open my sister in law's backpack and stole her wallet. She never felt a thing and it was not until we were back on board that she realised.

MelKaps reacted to drjohn4 in Disembarkation from Rome (Odyssey Of The Seas Sept. 28 - Oct. 7)
We were on Odyssey a week ago. If you carry your own bags off you can leave as early as 6:30. Air2Sea had us on an 11:30 flight. We made it with plenty of time, but our airline's check in line was short. Other airlines had some very long lines.

MelKaps reacted to wordell1 in Disembarkation from Rome (Odyssey Of The Seas Sept. 28 - Oct. 7)
Thats cutting it close. Be ready to walk off with your bags at 7am. They will start as soon as the Italian customs clears the ship. Customs at the port is no big deal but you will have some time to spend at security at the airport.

MelKaps reacted to ChanaC in Height increase soles for Ultimate Abyss?
Please don't try to cheat height limits. They don't put limits on these things just for fun or to mess with children, it's part of their safety protocol. It's been determined that anyone under these heights is at risk for injury. Trying to do something to get under height or weight limits on any ride or attraction puts the rider at serious risk. Look what happened to that boy in Orlando who was over the weight limit for that drop ride (although that didn't seem to be his fault, the ride operators didn't seem to post or train their employees on the limits). This sounds dramatic but I promise it's not worth risking.

MelKaps got a reaction from SpicyCherry in Wonderland Dining
If you have strict dietary restrictions, I recommend skipping. My husband loved it, but I left hungry since the food and experience wasn't for me. We are giving Wonderland a second try this year, but I think I'll eat beforehand to be safe, plus I know what to expect now.

MelKaps reacted to silenttuba in Sailing out New Jersey
As a New Jersey native, I would say no. Right now, according to Google, that's a 45 minute drive, and it's nearly midnight with minimal traffic. I would say that is your minimum, best case scenario travel time. Its could easily take two hours, or more. Then you have to deal with security, and the lines at any of the airports around here can get very long...or you could breeze through. It's really the luck of the draw, and not predictable. I would not risk it. Newark is 20 minutes away, and you won't deal with anywhere close to the traffic you will going into the city.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that your cab ride (assuming that's how you're getting to the airport) is going to likely cost 3x as much going to LaGuardia. you'll pay at least $20 in tolls alone.

MelKaps reacted to Pima1988 in Sailing out New Jersey
I agree with other NJ residents. No way would I ever fly in or out using LaGuardia sailing out from Cape Liberty. Maybe if I was sailing NCL, which sails from NYC, but not Cape Liberty.
Anyone from NJ that works in NYC would tell you pay 100, 200 bucks more and fly in and out Newark (EWR). It is well worth it just from a stress level!

Two years in the making and we finally have a new cruise vlog! In October 2021, we embarked on Harmony of the Seas in Barcelona, Spain for our honeymoon. We last sailed on Harmony of the Seas in October 2019 and a lot had changed in two years, but we still had an incredible vacation!
Here's the new vlog: HARMONY OF THE SEAS EMBARKATION DAY COVID EDITION!
