you got the short end of the stick on that one grand caymen is a dull island

Even so, it will be a new port for me. Already been to Bonaire. Since we didn't have any excursions planned (nor did we expect to add any) nothing specific is lost by not going to Bonaire. If we find Grand Cayman to be as you describe there will be plenty to keep us occupied on board.

  2. I am amused by their statement "feel free to browse all the exciting shore excursion options for your sailing" given that there is nothing to see for George Town yet and the Curacao excursions are no longer available to browse.

Also, no mention of what will happen to bookings for Chops Grille Lunch on 7/11 (was a sea day, now a port stop). If it's just refunded, the option to move to a different day will cost an extra $4 per person (at least that was the price last time I checked).

  3. Just received this via email. Kralendijk, Bonaire has been replaced by George Town, Grand Cayman.

    Dear Guest,

Due to a change in itinerary planning, we’ve replaced our visit to Kralendijk, Bonaire with George Town, Grand Cayman on Monday, and we’ll lose a little time in Willemstad, Curacao. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. Nevertheless, we’re excited to take you to a new port and know you’ll have an excellent time! Below, please find our revised Explorer of the Seas July 9th, 2022 itinerary.

Starting in Grand Cayman, visit Stingray City – one of the most popular destinations on the island. You’ll have an opportunity to feed and interact with friendly stingrays as you snorkel in the crystal-clear waters. If you’re looking to stay dry, discover the island on a scenic drive or indulge yourself in a delectable Caribbean dish at a local restaurant. Then, we’ll head to Curacao, a treasure trove of cultural attractions, rich history, and natural scenery. From desert landscapes and rugged cliffs to 38 spectacular, and mostly secluded beaches, Curacao has something for everyone. Whatever you do, we’re sure you’ll enjoy every minute of it!

Any pre-paid Royal Caribbean International shore excursions booked for Bonaire will automatically be refunded to your original form of payment. Our Shore Excursions team will automatically reschedule any pre-paid Royal Caribbean International shore excursions impacted by this change. In the next few days, your updated tour information will be e-mailed to you. In the meantime, feel free to browse all the exciting shore excursion options for your sailing in Cruise Planner and level-up your vacation.

Thanks for your understanding. We hope you enjoy your time with us onboard Explorer of the Seas!

I get the DBP and check constantly for pricing. I have to call when getting it as my wife cannot drink so it makes it a bit more difficult to reprice. Just checked today for my Jan 2023 Odyssey cruise and the DBP is 98$ ouch. At that rate i'll have to consider using my diamond vouchers and going out of pocket for some extras. I'm hoping black Friday will be better.

Since your wife can't drink, you can use her vouchers as well. The specialty coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice she would use them on are less expensive than the libations.

  5. If we want something (anything) we make the purchase the first time we consider the price "reasonable." Then we check the available prices frequently. If a price goes lower, we make the switch. If not, we were already comfortable with what we paid.

Some purchases remain at the original price. Others we have cancelled and repurchased as many as five times (the reduction in price has to be "worth the effort").

Wait, what REAL kimberleymarsh on CC? The poster I was talking about on CC does not use that name.

Clearly this thread has devolved into multiple topics that have gotten confused with each other. You mentioned a reliable poster on CC reporting the same stuff as the OP of this thread. Incorrect assumptions made that the OP and that reliable poster were one and the same.

I  I don't know the OP or the OP's reputation and I'm not saying that the OP is one of the malcontents, I don't know!  But, it is suspect.

I trust that @FionaMG's assessment of the REAL@kimberleymarsh on CC is accurate. What isn't necessarily the case is that the poster claiming the username @kimberleymarsh on here is the same respected and respectable poster.

For instance, I could go register as @twangster on some site that he doesn't currently frequent and post all sorts of garbage that he would never post. Someone familiar with his work here might defend the fake "twangster" based on the real deal here.

I do, yes. The OP in question is a very seasoned cruiser and trustworthy poster with 12.8k posts to their name on CC. Their story is backed up by another seasoned cruiser and trustworthy poster who is also on board and has 6.8k posts to their name. They are not the one-and-done types who sign up purely for the sake of complaining and both are people who regularly provide useful and helpful information.

Until I see @kimberleymarshpost again, I will believe it to be a one and done complainer.

You would, yes, but it was way more than that. This was on boarding. Rooms had not been prepared for guests' arrival and were dirty and unequipped with linens and towels even though this was the ship's first sailing after the shutdown.

    And you BELIEVE this?

  10. I can't speak to trying to speed up the process (although if you're late, they'll speed things up to get you out "on time") or courses "out of order."

In May, the early traditional dining time is 5:00 p.m. Way too early in my opinion but we're sailing with three other couples, the women all wanted to eat together, and I was the only one happy with 8:00 p.m. dining time.
