When I searched for hotels over there I did not found any known chain

Mercure is a well know chain over this side of the pond.

From what I recall, Civitavecchia is only a port and there are no hotels nearby.

Various hotel websites say nearest hotel is 0.2m to cruiseport with numerous others within a mile or so ( of course its google so it could br wrong lol )

Look at my post in Discussion "Nassau or other Caribbean Port".  I'm tell ya, as much as they need to get in order the protocols that the CDC is requiring, they need to take a hard look into starting cruises outside of the US!   March Please

I said the samething months ago, also said they could stagger days from same port ie 1 ship sailing on a monday another on a tuesday etc from barcelona or Stockhom etc.

With vaccine in Europe almost available things could change very quickly over here so they should have as i said way back a Plan B

Seven passengers tested positive and as of this morning, crew members was added to the people infected numbers, but Sea Dream won't state how many crew members were infected. There were 53 passengers and 66 crew onboard. In essence, that's a total of approximately 6% infected onboard. Based on passengers only, is approximately 13.5%. These numbers are too high. Infact, ANY infection numbers are unacceptable.

6 of the 7 were same family so the %  you quote means nothing as they were probably infected before boarding.

The positives to look at is that when these 6 were found out only 1 other case was found in passengers.

With regards crew no idea but if they had worn masks then may not have happened .

  4. Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine could cost Britain £588million and wind up being seven times more expensive per dose than the one being developed by Oxford University.

The jab, which the company this week claimed is 90 per cent effective and could be approved by regulators within weeks, is likely to cost at least £15 per dose and must be stored in specially designed ice packs that can cost approximately £5,000 each.

A vaccine being produced by Oxford, however, may cost as little as £2.23 per dose after the university and manufacturer AstraZeneca agreed not to profit from it.

DT said the Covid talk would go away after Nov 4th.....he's been right...I haven't see much at all about Covid deaths and cases in the US since, even though its record setting and will continue to be I am sure with all the celebrations for Biden that the news wont criticize or call super spreader events....?

Not just the celebrations! All those protesting as well but we wont get into that lol

As for a vaccine..I'll take any news  we can get  that gives us any hope or good news!!!...this seems the most promising so far out of all of them....Here in Canada, our prime minister is hopeful that first quarter of 2021 we will have vaccines rolling out...at least in limited #'s.

Yeah same in UK, looks as though we have to ride out the storm of the 2nd wave and hope its available before a 3rd hits

  6. Only if they throw in the drinks package ? if im going to risk getting corona then i need to be bribed with the other corona lol

Joking apart yeah wouldnt bother me, any test cruise will be to check that the measures they implement work! It would need to be as realistic as a new norm cruise as possible with Temp checks, social distancing, crew know what they are doing and enforce rules etc.

I NEVER said it had to do with cruisers. Note: I said, ' "PEOPLE", put on your masks cause you're messing it up for the rest of us who want to cruise!! ...' as we have to fly into Germany to get on the ship, but as confirmed, since Germany is in complete lockdown as "PEOPLE" are not listening which leads to the cancellation of cruises. Hence, cruisers are out of luck.

Sorry i took so long to reply, had to find my reading glasses as i was struggling

What you say above now you have fully explained in regards flying to germany which was omitted from your 1st post now makes sense!

HOWEVER your 1st post due to the lack of information which was added to the 2nd implies in your own words " if you dont want to cruise stay at home" this is after referring to people not wearing masks.

glad you cleared this up in 2nd post as 1st was misleading and needed full facts

People, put on your masks cause you're messing it up for the rest of us who want to cruise!! If you don't want to cruise, stay the (beep! - insert at your own risk) home!!

This has nothing to do with cruisers not wearing masks!

Germany has announced a complete lockdown of the country which is why Aida have cancelled cruises.

No one can get to the ship as they will be stuck in their homes

In the US it likely depends on the insurance company.  Here is an example of a vendor that would still cover you if you caught COVID-19:

    https://www.travelguard.com/o/covid19notification

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic... However, this does not affect any Medical Benefits available under the insurance policy.

If you read carefully and follow links as instructed on site it appears to me that most of what it refers to is for bookings made prior to March 2020.

With regards to bookings made after said date it seems to imply that no payment will be made and people should contact their hotels and carriers for refunds etc

  10. Reading it they are still looking to take RC to court for substantial damages due to the fact grandfather is colourblind and didn't know window was open!!!

So no its not the end..it should be because anyone whos seen the video knows that being colourblind has no bearing on your brain cells or lack of them when it comes to dangling a child through an open window 11 floors up

Even though there is a deadly virus spreading across the world forcing countries to lockdown some people buy shares in a cruise company and then when stock value falls they feel they have the right to sue for not realising, understanding or being given the correct information about how bad this virus is going to be.

    Absolute bloody joke !!!!!!

  12. Pretty sure most people right now wouldnt care what anyone wore in MDR if it meant they were cruising again, but of course there will still be those who just complain for the sake of it.

as this year has shown life is far to short to worry about what someone else is doing or wearing!

And you never know the person you are berating for wearing shorts may be the same one you were clapping for a few months ago! Or who pulls on a uniform everday to put their life on the line to protect you and your country

Umm... Context is important. I presented that as a possibility for the type of argument the plaintiff's lawyer may try to make. Cute trick, though.

    Hahaha

Thats a faster turn around than an F1 pitstop!

Your comment said everything it needed as at no time was it described as what a lawyer may think...its what you wrote because its what you think.

You need to stop swimming in the Egyptian river as you as always in denial lol

though I guess you could argue that doctor was under pressure *not* to order a medical evacuation or that RC somehow encouraged a culture of under-reaction.

Maybe you could guess or even make up stories which spread like wildfire on the internet!

This 1 comment above not only questions RC as a company but also questions the morals and ethics of EVERY doctor who works on cruiselines.

Pretty sure there is a lawyer somewhere that could look at this as being slanderish and tarnishing the name of RC and the Doctor involved when you have no evidence to back up your words
