KWong got a reaction from TheRoll in Dinners - What do people REALLY wear?
I wear a polo/short sleeve button up and slacks/jeans to dinner. I don't mind wearing a tie on formal nights (I'll do it for our generational cruises) but my preference is to not wear one.

I'm probably about average in terms of dress on board, but the main thing you should takeaway is that I wore what was comfortable for me.

Cozumel has really good beach clubs.  Paradise Beach, Mr Sancho's and Nachi Com are the most popular if you just want to relax.

Not sure if this helps but we received this e mail a few after we got back:

You are receiving this email from the Government of Canada because you recently entered Canada.
An Emergency Order under the Quarantine Act that applies to all travellers arriving in Canada is currently in force. You were informed of this Order when you entered Canada.
This is a reminder that IF you were randomly selected to complete COVID-19 molecular testing, you are required by law to follow the directions you were provided at the port of entry and complete the test. We may follow up with you in the next few days to confirm your compliance with this requirement. Further details can be found here: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/publications/diseases-conditions/fully-vaccinated-travellers-without-covid-19-symptoms-returning-canada.html.

Well I am officially out of my star class bubble.
I contacted the PHAC who directed me to CBSA as they are the agency that enforces the current quarantine/isolation policy noted in above thread.
The CBSA agent confirmed that cruising outside of the US will result in arrival testing and quarantine pending negative test result.  It doesn’t matter whether we leave the ship or not. The fact that the ship left the US is the litmus test.  I asked how this will be flagged by CBSA because we are NEXUS and pre Covid didn’t speak to a CBSA agent.  The agent confirmed that process has changed and after completing NEXUS at the stand alone terminals we will have to speak with a CBSA agent.
Now I am contemplating how to break the news to Lindsay.  😔

In Toronto, my colleagues and I were headed down to Clearwater Beach for a corporate retreat. I spent about 10 minutes in the Global Entry/NEXUS lanes (including pre-clearing customs) and it felt long. My colleagues took over an hour to get through  and only had about 10-15 minutes before general boarding was called.

I'd known that the KTN was worth the cost before. But after that incident I KNEW that it was the best money I could ever spend on something travel-related.

Did this last year. Would agree that the class is worth it. It's a lot of fun, and it's a LOT of food (what you make can easily satisfy two people). Everything is set up for you, sure, but I feel like making the rice and frying the shrimp would be too hectic for the number of people they are teaching. Plus I'm likely to eat that freshly fried shrimp before it comes close to becoming maki.

Thanks for your input. I’ve not heard of mini-bites, I’ll have to check them out.
I have tried most of the top London steak restaurants so I can imagine what Chops would be like. I’m on Ovation in May and have the 3 day package then - I’m sure I’ll let you know my thoughts then 😊

    Hi All,
Some of you may remember I had a lot of posts a few months back when I was booking my mum’s first ever cruise and first ever holiday in over 17 years. We eventually booked on Anthem to go around the fjords which got changed to the med and I upgraded us to an Owners Suite as I wanted to make it special for her and to make sure she had enough space for her mobility scooter since there weren’t any accessible rooms left. Unfortunately that ended up being cancelled and changed to a British isles cruise which didn’t excite us seeing as we were planning to go end of September.
I’m super excited to say that last night I booked us on Harmony OTS out of Barcelona on 3rd October. I was holding off as it looked like Italy were going to keep their borders shut to us Brits but they surprised us all and opened up! This time I managed to bag us the accessible crown loft suite. Apparently there’s only one onboard so I’m really happy I’ve got it - my mum thinks we’ve just got a balcony room 😋. I’m a little bit nervous that she doesn’t like heights and it’s on floor 17 but I’m sure she’ll overcome that when she sees the room, right?🤔😬
This will be my first time on Harmony and first time on an Oasis class ship. It’s been on my to do list for a while now! My question is, what can we absolutely not miss on Harmony once onboard?

KWong reacted to Tanner in Canadians - Are you cruising this year or waiting?
We sailed at the end of Aug on Indy from Galveston and are sailing again in Nov on Allure and Dec on Oasis.  It was a bit of a process to book tests and coordinated how many days we had to get in and out of the country.  The biggest problem was coordinating getting our PCR test to get back to Canada.  At every turn everyone at Royal seemed to give a different answer about the availably of PCR test on board.  This literally included right up until the moment we actually got our test on Board!!!!!  We booked an extra night in Houston just in case but clearly we didn't need it!  However to say that it was confusing for the staff to comprehend that both me and my wife and my kids needed the test is an understatement.  They were very pleasant and accommodating but we had to explain it about 5 different times.  If you have sailed with kids recently (or B2B) you'll understand the cards they leave in your room to book tests.  The process on the app makes it impossible to schedule a PCR and they actually run those first thing in the morning so it was redundant to have our son booked for a late morning antigen test.  They even left a message on my SeaPAss card to come to guest services.  Even arriving on deck on day 7 required some explaining.  In the end they left our negative tests letters for us and CBSA barely looked at them.

Thank you so much Royal for providing the test and at no cost!!!!!!  I simply wish it was more widely understood by the crew but they were fantastic.  Now.......for how long will they offer his service???

My older daughter just got her UK passport today. Application was July 20, mailed from Canada to the UK on July 22, and just received via DHL today (Aug 17). So exactly 4 weeks, which seems pretty good for a non-expidited overseas application.
Meanwhile, my wife's was just approved so I should see it next week.
As for the younger daughter's, nothing yet.
I should also note that HM Passport Office has been emailing every time we've gotten a step further in the process. Radio silence from Passports Canada. Definitely like the UK process better.
