  1. Past hour
  2. Grease is one show I have never seen aboard any ship. I hope I'm someday able to see it before it's gone. On the other hand, I seldom think the shipboard renditions of most shows do the original shows any justice. Maybe I should just remember Grease as it was meant to be.
  3. Today
  4. Sandy was not the female lead in the original musical. Rizzo was. But Stockard Channing (who could act circles around ONJ) was not enough of a box office draw so they rewrote the show to give ONJ the bigger part and more songs. But my issue with the show is not its performance. It’s the horrible message it sends. Being pretty and smart and funny is not enough girls, gotta tart yourself up to get your man! You gotta “cream for greased lightening” and justify your promiscuity because “there are worse things I could do”. But it’s all good in the end cuz I gotta stop at the drug store. I got my period!! ALL of this is in the musical. How does it become a staple of community theater & high school music departments?!!!
  5. Yesterday
  6. Love your name. Check your price, we saved money.
  7. I loathe Grease. However, I don't understand the correlation of since Grease is being removed, so should Cats. I sat through a matinee of Cats on Oasis and it was a one and done. But plenty of people enjoyed it, the same way plenty of people do/don't enjoy Grease. It seems like if this production is being removed, its because Royal can no longer see value in paying the high fee to put on such a production.
  8. The old waves are so much better. We have booked Symphony for November, Allure for NYE, and Icon for Valentine’s Day. We already have the wave rented 2 times for each sailing but Icon is the ship we are least excited for with one wave and I believe is an inflated one. Thankfully we will also get an hour of Star riding as well on her so we should be good.
  9. You know what? You're absolutely 100% correct! My bad (my MIL is here for the holiday weekend and now sternly correcting me )! Not in England, but in Scotland! She said they had the freshest fish. My MIL had moved with her parents from England to Scotland when she was in her late teens (earlier than I thought). While my wife was growing up, they used to visit her grandparents in Scotland for about a month or so every summer for many years. That's where those memories originated.
  10. Those corkscrew are the worse. I bring my own on board.
  11. I love grease the movie. And all the songs are on my playlist…..
  12. Agree. Oasis wave was great in April. Utopia in May not so much, but better than no wave at all
  13. We were not charged on Allure this summer. I did request a corkscrew, which was ridiculously hard to use
  14. Nothing like that beautiful shower curtain that grabs you and wraps itself around you !!!
  15. It kinda does? They all want to go to the Jellicle Ball, and the heavy side layer and Grizabella isn’t allowed to and then she is. I saw it in 1992, apologies for the lack of details
  16. These are immense, deep frying them turns them into a completely different thing. Like fudge cake We call it the pizza crunch! We do batter and deep fry a lot of things tbf, sausage, black pudding, haggis, hamburgers, king ribs. Apologies @mashley1021 for contributing so much to a massive tangent
  17. Just caught up with what my fellow Canadian cruise friends have been up to on Freedom. Looks like a good time has been had, and more importantly a smooth flight down. I look forward to your final thoughts on the Genie program. Also your thoughts on how you found the accessible JS; like the shower with a trough floor drain, a bathroom that you don’t step up into and possibly with the tile floor and maybe you have a fold down ramp at the balcony door for exterior access. Having toured accessible rooms before on Oasis Class ships, I have seen some touches the ship architects have put in. Sabrina, I will say you made me hungry and reminded me how much I have missed the wave. Say hi Justin for me and I hope he’s feeling a better from his fall. Ask him how he likes the inflatable wave VS the normal style. Let him know I like the normal one, but I’ll accept any wave over the option of none.
  18. Cats doesn’t have a “plot”. It’s based on the Book of Practical Cats by TS Elliot & is a series of vignettes with a very loose theme running through them. You can’t look at it as a traditional musical.
  19. That doesn’t even sound appealing to me, lol. Mason Jar has deep fried Oreos that are pretty good though. Wow, with all the fried food in the US, that’s a new one. I need to find it now!
  20. https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/RBC_ParadiseIsland/RBCParadiseIsland_FAQs.pdf Page 6, under Food and Beverage, question 3: Guests with a Royal Beach Club Day Pass (Unlimited Non-Alcoholic Drinks & Dining) must use a credit card to purchase à la carte alcoholic beverages on site.
  21. I beg to differ. Scottish fish and chips is FAR superior to English fish and chips!! Chippies (the name for a shop that sells fish and chips) all serve up in different means. Some serve in boxes now, some still put a piece of grease proof paper on what would be newsprint (not printed on, just plain newsprint paper). There is nothing quite like opening a bag of chips and the smell of vinegar hitting you smack in the face, it’s a very comforting smell Also, can I just state for the record, no matter what anyone tells you, Scottish people do not regularly eat deep fried mars bars. If you ever find yourself in chippie that sells them, run. I have reached 40 years living in Scotland and could count on one hand the number of chippies I have encountered that have sold this. It’s performative for tourists. We do batter and deep fry pizzas though
  22. Weird. I've certainly had the same dish come out better one time than another but not such big differences in size. I feel like Izumi will be a "smaller" meal for me regardless as all the small plates seem to live up to their name and I'll be getting sushi for my large plates which isn't heavy. Not a complaint given it's during the UDP and we're only going there for lunch, just an observation. Maybe even a good thing since I'm supposed to be ordering smaller meals and will be trying to make use of my credits, lol. It will be much harder to not order everything I like at MJ and GK and wanting to try different things at the other restaurants we don't normally dine at. Maybe we should have kept the UDP for all 7N... ... nah, no regrets. Man am I hungry though.
  23. That's so true! My MIL (now 85) was born and raised in England and lived in Scotland for a few years in her early 20's before following her older sister over to the U.S. chasing those American military veteran husbands. I can't tell you how many times I've heard about how fresh and delicious the fish & chips are along the coast in England and how they used to serve it on newspaper (now I've been told it's on wax paper that looks like newsprint). Every time my wife and MIL order fish & chips here in the U.S., I hear that story and the comparison is on! If my wife and MIL like it, then it has to be good!
  24. Got lost in my book and almost forgot to post this. Lunch was at Izumi today. Something interesting to note, portion sizes are very inconsistent here on Freedom. Night 2 our rolls were half the size of today’s. The people sitting next to us today got rolls that were 2/3 the size of what we got. Ramen bowl looked like it was half eaten. It’s usually filled almost to the top. This Izumi is strange….
